Murmansk Military Objects
Imagine we are foreign intelligence service agents and we spy for Russian military bases. Just a few years ago it was impossible, not to mention how it was impossible during the iron curtain era. But now thanks to google we can see all the top secret Russian objects clearly on those shots.
Russia still stays very militarized country.
If to explore with Google earth just a small part of it, the Murmansk region (one of many of Russian regions) which is located next to Norway and Finland, we can meet tens of military objects, mainly Russian Navy ones.
Here they are:

All the locations on these shots as have been said are from Murmansk region.
This one is Olenegorsk, Russian air force base. Those are not just fighters, those are strategic bombers.

Murmansk itself, abandoned navy ships.

Murmansk. Nuclear-powered ice-breaker in the dock.

Kola Bay, near Murmansk, small town “Poliarniy”, oil-tanker “Belokamenka”. One of the largest oil tankers in the world. It is 100 feet tall (as ten stores building).

It is more than 1000 ft long (340 metres), width 200 ft (65 metres), it transports 4 millions tons of oil each year.

Severomorsk. Ships of Russian Northern Navy. The sixth from the left is the biggest ship in the Russian Northern Navy - nuclear-powered cruiser “Kirov”.

Kola Bay. Abandoned ships.

Russian submarines.

Different types of Russian submarines.

Russian S-300 (SA-10) long range surface-to-air missiles. The same ones as Russia now exports to Iran. We had a few months ago an article about an inflatable version of those missiles - the ones that can fool the from-air observer.

Another abandoned ship near Murmansk.

More Russian submarines. It is the home base of legendary “Kursk” submarine, the one which got sank a few years ago near Murmansk and whole crew died, because the rescue team has not come in time. Take a not on the submarine to the right - it is split to two parts, probably this is a bug of google photos.

And even more abandoned Russian Navy ships.

Some unidentified Navy object a few miles from the shore.

All the submarines we have seen before were children toys in comparisson with those. Those are sisters of the already mentioned “Kursk” submarine. 500 ft long, 60 ft high. They say it can sweep major USA cities of the ground.

Those are previously top-secret “Taifun” class submarines. The biggest nuclear-powered submarines in the world. They could carry up to 200 missiles.

Here are them from a more distant perspective. “Taifuns” from the left and “949A” (”Kursk sisters”) from the left.

This is the storage for a used nuclear fuel.

One of these hills is shallow inside. All the rock is taken out and there is an underground submarine base.

Gremiha. Empty nuclear missiles wells.

Gremiha. The submarine fueling station.

An abandoned military base on the island Vitte.

Gremiha. Under this cape there is another underground submarine base and from these road two tunnels lead inside.

Kovdor. A hidden mountain.

Kandalaksha. Military base with launching sites.

Allakurti. Military base.

Allakurti, same military base.
All those shots are from the area not bigger than Vermont state, but so densily populated with military objects. Guess how many more there are across vast Russian Federation.
Thanks for the descriptive explanations to Makseem Kananenka.

Would communism have worked if ussr stopped spending money on conventional weapons and only maintained a large enough nuclear force to act as a deterrent?
Interesting, but nothing new really. The objects above are not “secretive”. If they were, we would not be seeing them with Google maps or anything else for that matter ;).
It’s too bad there are so many abandoned ships - that’s a lot of metal which could be used for other things…
Wow. Gotta love abandoned stuff. I don’t understand how things like that can just be left abandoned. Things so big. How do you just leave a ship there. So much metal. So much work into it. It’s amazing. Great work.
thats wat i say man. im from russia myself. and i feel so fucking bad for my country. look at this ships, so much effort have been put into them, ppl have studied damn science and worked on them
look at young russians now. they r fucking drinking vodka.
i drink vodka too, but i also work, sudy, etc
and fuck soviet has put too much into navy. afterall america somehow has kept up with soviet military, but ppl there live well, they r not poor and can afford many things and shit.
man so sad, so sad…
Your right , Im from Colorado in the U.S.A.
I was wondering about the metal too. All of the building growth in China has REALLY driven up the cost of metal. As a result, the metal salvage business has taken off in nearly every country. I would think that one of your politicians would see some opportunity here.
By the way, that water looks pretty contaminated. I bet there are lots of 3-eyed fish in it.
I wonder how those big boats get leaned over like that.
[...] Murmansk Military Objects - previously impossible to even know about, now Google brings you up close and personal to Russia’s top secret military bases. [...]
The boats lean over once there is not enough water to keep it upright. Like someone else said, metal is supposed to be an expensive commodity, but it may just be too expensive to cut-up the ship and melt it down. Not for too long, though!
Alaska. Abandoned ships

The are ship wrecks. Not abandonded like this tab…

No.
Nice article.
Taking into account that Russia is getting totally autocratic and fascist-minded, EU must think twice before shaking hands with such neighbor. whole world should
yes it would be hard to trust such a powerful nation
youre totally right!!! putin is new stalin!!! great idea man!!!
“Allakurti” is spelled Alakurtti, Kovdor, Alakurtti and Kandalaksha are very close to Finland, it’s just under 200 km’s to Alakurtti from where i live.
David:
>Would communism have worked if ussr stopped spending
>money on conventional weapons and only maintained a large
>enough nuclear force to act as a deterrent?
Communist ideology granted that there must be in future world communist ‘revolution’. So it was neccessery to USSR to ‘invest’ in offensive weapon in order to make the ‘revolution’.
Becose Russian no clean ? in all post and others have taks cars and others clean all this sucks
Kovdor. A hidden mountain.
I believe that’s a quarry.
“Taking into account that Russia is getting totally autocratic and fascist-minded”
And the problem with that is?
there is a large beach in Thailand (i think it is Thailand) where they deliberately beach old ships, and then cut them up for scrap metal, and unfotunately DUMP all the bilge and oil and sewage into the ocean (pretty disgusting to see). If i had time i would scroll through googleEarth and see if i could find it, post some screen shots. Maybe someone else here has the time?
I know that many Russian ships are being dismantled there. As much as i applaud the recycling, the pollution pains me. I’d prefer that the ships where sailed upriver, brought up onto land, and turned into cheap housing (flood-proof housing for New Orleans!)
india and bangladesh, and the ships are fron europe and russia, its currently illegal to send us ships there, this minute anyhow. many of ours are broken up near brownsville texas,so we are killing mexicans instead of folks from india
hey mate i had a search 4 the ship graveyard you mentioned, eventually found it on google earth just search for alang, Gujarat, its actually in indian, you’re right it is pretty horrible to look at but pretty interesting at the same time. i counted about 50+ ships including an aircraft carrier
Googling Murmansk…
A post at English Russia got me to pull up Google Maps……
[...] Not to suck dry an interesting blog, but EnglishRussia had another fascinating post this morning. Its a wonderful collection of tagged Google Earth shots from Russian military sites. I was particularly interested to see that the ‘Kirov’ is still floating. Not sure if its still in active service, but is is moored at one of the Northern Fleets docks in the one picture. I always fancied that the lines of the Kirov were particularly graceful. I am not missing the fact that its a rather potent killing machine, but am appreciating the aesthetics of the design. For what is is worth, you can find more information about the Kirov on Wikipedia or at Mark Meredith’s Kirov Page. I know its a bit of a guy thing, and I am reminded of both Tony Soprano’s addiction to war documentaries as well as Dennis Leary’s Asshole song. I am chided, but still mildly intrigued. [...]

Good luck. I hope you attempt this on on one of Russia’s fine self sinking submarines like the Kursk or AS-28. Hope you can hold your breath or bring a scuba mask. Ha ha

Hey, cowboy!
And what about 3000 dead stupid american soldiers who failed in combatting a medieval iraqi army?
this is funny….medieval iraqi army? they have modern weapons, and grew up fighting, dumbass. Not to mention, 3000 dead american soldiers, sure…but how many dead iraquis? alot more than 3000. If it were a numbers game, America is far in the lead.
and we havent failed. saddam is dead, the country is pretty in our control. the soldiers that died, they died having forgotten more knowledge in their lifetime than you will ever obtain in yours.
AMERICANS DIDN’T GO TO WAR WITH IRAQ THEY WENT TO WAR WITH SUDAM AND HIS “WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION” THEY ALSO DECIDED TO DRAG A LOT OF OTHER GREAT COUNTRY’S LIKE AUSTRALIA (BECAUSE AT THE TIME A PRIME MINISTER JOHN HOWARD SUCKED JORGE BUSHES BALLS BECAUSE HE WAS A “POWERFUL ALIE” NOW WE HAVE A VERY GOOD PRIME MINISTER KEVIN RUDD) AND NEW ZEALAND AND ALSO CANADA
AND THAT DEATH TOLL FOR IRAQ DURING THE “SO CALLED WAR ON TERROR” WOULDN’T HAPPEN TO INCLUDE THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF IRAQI CIVILIANS YOU MOTHER FUCKING (STUPID) AMERICANS
Stupid American…and what exactly do you think the attitude of the CHILDREN of the dead soldiers will be, eh? All you’ve done is create a new generation of terrorists. Jeez, it amazes me how stupid you guys are…I mean really, a second term for little Bush? Wow.
Hey Nopasaren,
What about the 14,453 stupid Russian soldiers that died in Afghanistan? Now that is pathetic! It took us about a month to take over the entire country and set up a puppet government. It took the Russians 10 years to admit defeat and run away like little girls.
The difference between Soviet soldiers and American:
Soviets did not go to the army freely, the service was
mandatory. Americans are dying for education tuition grant.
If you want to see the US Navy graveyard, drive along I-95
in Philly South you may see rusting Ticonderoga class boats.
US is a mirror image of SU letters. Meet the fate at the
mirror plane. Obamization equals socio-commune soon. You guys
across a big pond have a long range vision, don’t you see
your current problems.
Hey Nopasaren,
What about your stupid Russian soldiers that have taken more than 12 years to fight Chechnya? What a bunch of losers! …oh and it still goes on. You should give it up. You’re obviously drunk from cheap vodka.
Hey Hillbilly
How bout ur 50000 american GI killed in vietnam?
How bout ur embassy staff in Tehran in 79′?
How bout twin towers?
There are really not a lot of cool things in Russia, But US is not better. Go eat noodle throll. Chop-Chop!
boy all of you are in total error here! Blood is blood! When you get right down to that 19 year old kid carrying a rifle out there in the middle of no place it just don’t matter if he’s American, Russian or a Muslum. Everybody’s blood is red when it hits the ground. So next time think about it before go pounding on the key board.
* The first error of your ways is the 3,000 deaths in Iraq. Actually much less than that. But still too high. I think what you are thinking of is the combined total of this incursion into the world of anti terrorism. But one also fails to reallize that the actual ratio of KIA from one side to KIA from the otherside is almost 35:1, and probably closer to 50:1.
* Your right on about Iran, and I will completely side with you. We had a true coward for a President at the time. But things changed fast after the next election, because Reagan would have bombed Iran back to dust.
* It was 58,000 young men and women in the Vietnam conflict. But what he dosn’t want you to know is that while he was bragging about 58K deaths in about 1000 days we were handing out close to 2.5 million combat KIAs. If you did your homework, then you already know that the 3000KIA is spead out over four years (closer to 2500KIA in Iraq).
There were so many deaths in Vietnam, that nearly a complete generation of males has dissappeared from the planet. The closest thing to these figures is the American Civil War where certain areas were devoid of males after the war was over. It probably would be easier for you to understand the losses in western Russia during World War Two. When I was a kid you used to say 6 million Russians died in WW2, but when I was a teenager the figure was revised to 10 million. Later Breznev made the statement that it was 20 million, and the men that followed him finally stated it was 28 million Russians. And this does not include any of Stalin’s little purges after the great war. So who really won the war? The surrender was nothing but a piece of paper stopping hostilities. If it were not for those men hauling all kinds of goods to Murmansk Moscow would have been nuked in 1944. Think you need to give it a rest while you can still breeth.
* The World Trade center ment little to me, but I’d say if you lost somebody there it would. I had friends that lived two minutes away, and still have not gone back home. But if what you really think your right in your thoughts, then why don’t you press them with the folks in Manhatten. When you do I’d suggest you bring a few body guards and a couple bullet proof vests. Dealing with Iraq is one thing that’s kinda split up over here, but dealing with Al Quida is a different subject. You’ll probably find that it’s a 10:1 ratio wanting them bombed back into the stoneage 24/7 till the end of time.
* lastly you spoke of many things that were nothing but terrorism. When they killed all those kids (in Russia) our hearts ached at the very thought of it. Many of us had a certain sense of rage in our hearts over this. Where were you?
gary
And you Americans wonder why you are disliked throughout the world?
You know your figures well and you could build up a good argument. But how you manage to turn it into a patriotic post about the greatness of the US post WW2 wars is a mystery. I can’t believe that anyone could write anything like this and actually believe truly in what he is saying. Even Goebbels couldn’t have tried harder.
There is NOTHING great about wars. How anyone could be proud of the failures of Vietnam and the destructions and devastation brought on to a single country, I just can’t wrap my head around it. Who do you think you are? “The world trade center meant little to me”, this is not a video game, this is actually what is happening and has been happening in the world the past 50 years or so. I cant say that my personal life was greatly affected by the attack, apart from the economic follow up. But to pay so little to something that affected so many (and that can include everything that you talked about in your post: Iraq, Vietnam, WTC etc.) is so childish and naive.
To use death toll statistic to argue in the favor of the US in all those events is greatly stupid. None of those wars made the world a better place, none of them had a real need to be conducted. This is not patriotic at all but more lack of respect for your country and your fellow Americans who lost their LIVES in those events.
your a idiot and a moron , you would be speaking German not broken English if the U.S. did not help your country , your leader would be Hitler and you would be his slave .
The ENTIRE country???? You fucked up in Afghan as you had done in Vietnam. You are unable to fight. You’ve never fought on your own soil. Chechnya is our country, though I might admit the war was ignited because of money. And what are you fighting for abroad?
Sir,
There was a slight difference between the USA, Australia, Korea, and Thialand in Vietnam, and Russia’s actions in Afganistan. We kicked the Vietcong’s ass so bad that it virtually didn’t exist in many regions anymore. We kicked N.Vietnam’s ass so hard that they were sending 12 and 14 year old kids to fight a war. We bombed Hanoi back to the stoneage in eleven days (actually closer to six days). We shot up Vietnamese, East Germans, Russians, Bulgarians, Chinese, Mongolians (we catured them alive), Ukranians, and who knows whatelse. They all (but those 4 Mongolians) had one thing in common; DEATH! The Laotian border was nothing but a melting pot for who’s gonna get it next (kinda like a buffet for the tigers who fed on their corpse). We used their Czechoslovakian machine guns and CZ 75 pistols when even the elite Russians couldn’t get their hands on them. Loved their mortar rounds, and used tons of their plastic explosives. But in all that time I never hated them. I learned to love them before they could get into my mind and win.
So why didn’t we win? Just ask Ted Kennedy and all the rest of the cowards he hangs with.
glt
hejjj haha the fucking amerikan bombs at serbia 75 days
its not funny because russia is the big friend of serbia !!!the ameikan action in kosovo was not funny for serbia and russia !!!!! WARNING!!!!!! we wanna fuck yaa”"”!!!!!!
fought in our country? Son have you ever heard of the war between the states? Can you fathom 1000 KIA an hour on each side for 36 hours? Can you fathom looking at your brother in the eye at twenty five meters and then shooting him in the head?
This happened many times in the Civil war.
Have you ever heard of a place called Pearl Harbor or the Phillipenes? Wake Island or Midway? The Aluten Islands? Republic Of Texas? War of 1812?
But most of all you’d be learning German right now if it wasn’t for the 19 and 20 year old sailers that made the run to Murmansk. What would your place look like right now if it wasn’t for the Army Aircorps in WWII? Rosevelt was an isolationists, and if the Japs had not bombed Pearl Harbor and invaded the Phillipenes (U.S. soil at the time)there would have been no reason to goto Europe unless Hitler had tried to invade England. So really you guys owe the Japs a big thanks, as Germany would have gone nuke by late 1943. And we know where they’d have tested the first one just like you do.

And this funny friendly fire, these funny Latino soldiers who do not speak English…)
please state your source of information about “Latino” soldiers. Thru out the years we have had Mexican-American men join the armed services, but they must speak English. Also the Phillipenes and Pourte Rico have had many of their people enlist as well. Nobody has been “drafted” into the armed services in many years here, and lets hope we never see a draft again.

Napasaran, dont think about him, hes prolly some low life fat redneck who molest his own lil sister(as they did it in Texas).
By the way. If u control both countrys(Iraq and Afghan). Why those guys still behead ur own american citizens?
And the problem that this uneducated redneck vote for reps! And there are bunch of them. Stupid KKKs.
your first mistake was to think of me as a redneck man from Texas. Call that double wrong. I’m college educated (not political science or a nice polite term for being brain washed), and have a mechanical engineering degree, as well as holding two journymen’s cards as a machine builder and a machinest repairman. I graduated at the top of my class in all three, and some folks would never call me stupid.
I have a great respect for people in Texas, as most others do. They would be the first to give you the shirt off their backs when your in need. They would be the first to forego a meal to give you their food. Doubt you’ll find very many if any at all in the KKK. They just don’t do that stuff. And while on the subject of the KKK I doubt that you’ll find very many of them in the first place. I live in the centeral part of North America, and can safely say “I don’t know any of them.”
Can you say that you don’t know any Communist hardliners? Max can you say that you don’t know any Neo Nazis? Are you an “anti-semite?”
We don’t hate Muslums over here, but we do hate their ideology just like 90% of the rest of the world does. Everytime one of those ragheads pulls of a stunt like beheading somebody they only inch a little closer to their own deaths, but we also know they are not intelligent enough to know this (don’t we). So what will happen in Afganistan? We’ll stay they a few more years zapping Taliban thugs till they finally run out of man power, and the Afgan army can hold it’s own against them. Iraq is the same way. Right now we have to keep one brigade in place just to keep the Kurds from killing all the rest of the people in Iraq, as well as uniting with the ones in Iran so they wont kill everyone in Iran (they will one of these days). Iraq is pretty much under constant controll with the exception of three provinces right now. Isreal will nuke Iran sometime in the next 36 months, so you’d best be ready for that one. They have the means to do this many times over (last count was over 400 warheads). Syria is a dieing state right now as well as Cuba & Castro. We don’t have to fire a shot to win this just like what happened in Russia. Putin is just passing thru, and the pendulum is due to swing the otherway again. Russia has a taste of freedom, and they like it. Same thing is going on in Vietnam, Iraq, and Syria, and these people like it. The hardliners in two of those countrys know they are doomed, and will never be replaced once they die off. It’s a shame you have no realistic idea as to what’s happening the world today.
Russia itself may well be an industrial empire just waiting to open up like China did. This is a good thing for everybody. A day will come when a Russian man or woman will buy a new house every eight or ten years and a new car every three or four years like everyone else does. Take his kids to Disneyland or the local Pizza Hut on a weekend. Ask the folks from the German Democratic Republic what it’s like living in Germany now, or Poland, Latvia, or Lithuania. Maybe some of this would be good for you to!

Hello american friends!
Why d’you think, that all information on this site is true?
Do you really think, that Russia is the country of bears?
actually I love Russia! And yes it has lots of bears (big brown ones at that). It’s a country of many cultures, and has produced some of the finest music mankind has ever known. Before I die I want to go fishing in Siberia, and listen to some concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Maybe next year.

Nopasaran,
Are you crazy? We have had to fight many wars on our own soil. We have fought the English, Indians, French and even a civil war. But back to Afghan, Russia looked like a coward.
Russia got its butt kicked in Afghanistan by a bunch of starving men on camels! Ha ha
14,453 dead soldiers
118 jet aircraft shot down
333 helicopters shot down
147 main battle tanks destroyed
1,314 IFV/APCs destroyed
433 artillery and mortars destroyed
1,138 radio sets and command vehicles destroyed
510 engineering vehicles destroyed
11,369 trucks and petrol tankers destroyed
Sir,
you forgot one other thing on your list.
* you failed to list all the Russian POWs that refused to go back to the motherland, and also a list of all the Russian defectors from that little war.
Many have found their way to the U.S.A., and drive Chevy Monte Carlos, and new pickup trucks. All the while never having to look over their shoulders while they are out in public.

58 000 american GIs killed for nothing! FOR NOTHING. U runned from NAM as a bunch of cowards. All u could do is to kill harmless civilians in Song-Mi.
Nation of cowards. All u could do is to shot movies about or Heroic heritage.
your figures are dead wrong as usual!
*there was less than 190 Skyraiders in the U.S. inventory during the entire 1960’s. Probably less than 20 planes were lost to hostile actions.
*count eleven B52 bombers destroyed with a small handfull taken out of service due to damage over N. Vietnam
*there was maybe five or six A26’s shot down. The rest were culled from service due to age.
*the A37 dragonfly was also culled from service as well as the B57 canberra due to age
*but then again you might had added the F105G’s and F105G’s. The “D” model took a large hit over N.Vietnam, but the “G” model was pretty sucessful against Soviet SAM sites.
*A4’s were one plane that was like a fish out of water over those skys, and were replaced with A6’s (aka “flying dump trucks” due to their bomb loads).
of all those planes only the F105’s, F4’s and A4’s saw much flying time on N. Vietnam. The B52 flew over N. Vietnam for about two weeks. No F111 was ever shot down, but a few crashed due to problems in the first design of the terrian following radar package.
Now here’s a thought to ponder upon: The Soviet Union told China and North Korea to quit wasting SAM’s against the SR71’s making daily flights over China and North Korea as they didn’t have any luck shooting one down over Kamchatka as well. The last flight thru there brought a total of 300 SAM’s fired on the SR71 without one even getting close. Can you do anybetter now? Don’t bet the farm on it!

Hey everyone,
I know that the US has problems and that we made a BIG MISTAKE in Iraq. But I get a little tired of people like Nopasaran who think that Russia is God’s gift to planet Earth and then speak poorly about the USA.
Max, I don’t know what you are trying to say. I know you have a little mind, so try to give me some facts. Sure, you can bring up the twin towers in New York and then I can bring up the Nord Ost theatre siege.
Shall we keep going?
In the russians defense..the reason they suffered those losses is because we supplied the afghans with the weaponry needed to fight the russians.
What about your stupid Chernobyl?
What about the Japan Russian War when a bunch of rice eaters from Japan kicked your butts?
our only mistake in iraq is that we are not fighting to the limits of our ability….just as in vietnam. I compare it to sending a dog into s fight while wearing a muzzle
Hey Foma,
I believe that 90%-99% of the information on this site is accurate. The only inaccuracies that I have seen have been posted by people like Max, Nopasaran and Acts of Stupidity.
that muzzle being the anti-american democrats in washington
U jerk started to make fun about kursk. There are 110 people died. And u made fun of it. This is not cool. I dont know u. I dont know what kind of mind u got. But i tell u one thing. Dont judge all russians by CNN channel. We all different. Im for example half jewish half chinese, but i see myself as russian. And i beleave i spent more time in NY and Cali then u are. So dont think that u are better then us just becouse u american. Dont tell me bullshit bout US, i know how american countryside lives, not much better than russians. And im really tired of people tellin that russians drink a lot of hard stuff. This is not truth, if ull check for statistick ull notice that most heavy drinkers are Finnish, and then French. Russians on 5th position. Im really hate people with stereotypes. I hate my goverment, but i curse anyone who trying to make fun of my people
Ok, the fight’s over!
But I’m going to do this:
I live right on the edge of a big city where the farm land starts. I don’t own a big house or anything, but instead live in a 1500 sq. ft. condo. Nothing special, but it’s all mine. There are hundreds of farms of all sizes around here, and I think you need to come over here for an extended visit. I will take you out in the country side to see hundreds of these folks that are not living very good. They’ll invite you in for a steak and a tour of their farms. Maybe even let you drive their John Deer four wheel drive tractors (it’s time to start plowing you know). I’ll even take you fishing, and we can go uptown to listen to some quality old school jazz. Hell you might even meet a pretty woman over here. At my house I’ve been known to grill a pretty good steak, and in another month we can go watch race cars all day long.
I’ll even take you up into some of the areas you speak of that live worse than where your at. We can have barbeque till your stomach bursts! Maybe even attend a couple jazz festevals. How about an anti government politcal rally? Even that’s OK here. You’ll never have to look over your shoulder over here. So when can I expect you?

Hey Have just read a few entries there, WTF? All yous guys do feel very passionate about your countries!
Being from the UK (Northern Ireland) there is clearly 1 thing that The russians and a large part of western europe forget. In both world wars and even more in the second the US saved our asses, Imagine going to france and it being a faciast republic? As the germans hated communists there would have been no USSR and probably none of the american hating people on this website.
Talking about the “Proxy Wars” nearly all the wars have involved a superpower. To counter agression from the USSR the USA pumped vast amounts of money, weapons etc so the mujahadeen could fight the soviets, evidently they trained them too much as it is proving very hard to defeat the mujahadeen/taleban there.
In vietnam/korea russia and then ally china done the same against the US, sounds very familar doesnt it.
In iraq and afganistan syria and iran are doing the exact same! However now that the US military has taken to paying local militias to fight calm is slowly being restored.
Every nation is the same in that it only suits its own means and the sooner people realise that the better. No nation is pure white but I do believe the US & Russia get a very rough press and anyone who gloats about war and death must think what it must be like being in a war theatre, reckon a few people here would change their mind….
What about the Japan Russian War when a bunch of rice eaters from Japan kicked your butts?
This is BS big time by the way. We kicked them butts and u helped us
Absolutely agree with you, Max
Hey Max,
It sounds like we have some similarities after all. By the way, how would you respond to someone like Luis who said:

No, I am not the moderator. I just found this site on digg and have been visiting for the past week or so.
Да какая в жопу разница. Texax1 - Ты не прав!
Peace Max. Sorry for offending you. I apologize for the bad things that I said about Russia. I’m sorry that Nopasaran is a retard too.
Texas1, and why US is always telling us what to do? Who they think they are? Does everybody agrees with the views of your government?
When did the US ever tell you what to do?…Or how to live your life?
Who agrees with the views of your government?
Hey USMC! About those Cowboys, I just don’t know about that Romo. It’s nice to see another American on here.
My other team, Notre Dame also got destroyed too. I guess that there is always next year.
guys, these wars you are talking about and making a sample of were/are fueled by money and areas of influence. And when you see an invading country is backing out, its probably because the enemy of the invading country supplied means to deploy a very unfair kind of guerilla fight in country of invasion (afganistan, vietnam, iraq, chechnya, bosnia, etc etc etc), the kind that does not respect any sort of international war convention. not to mention the use of a media as a propaganda tool.
it is absolutely incorrect to compare wars that were done in past history to current and recent wars, because now we live in a special age of international super powers, media and well-developed tools for manipulating society will exist…
It’s not unfair. You should read, “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu.
“unfair” to the invador in their own eyes
but like someone said, if superpowers were to conduct war the way it was done before the mass media, the guerilla wars would be over very soon due to the immence amount of violence unlieshed on the invadees. in other words: bloody, but quick.
I’m not sure if that would be the best way to win. If our military planners had read Sun Tzu, then things would have been done much differently. For example, we could have ensured a strong embargo with our weaponry. Basically bombing anything that enters and leaves. The goal would be the complete breakdown of society. Hopefully, losses would be kept to a minimum. The warring factions would basically fall apart due to starvation and desperation. We would wait till things were at the absolute worst and demand a roundup of weaponry, explosives, etc. Then we would come into the country with food, water, gifts, money, construction equipment and jobs. We would command control from their palaces, with weaponry and the people would listen because we have what they need.
Taifun subs don’t carry 200 missiles, they carry 20 missiles with up to 200 warheads.. I know, I know.. but there is a difference
You suggest something like Wermacht did to Leningrad during WW2, but in scale of country, yes?
I suggest it would be cheaper, faster, and more effective, if you simply a-bomb the shit out of civilians (or powder them with anthrax), and then rebuild the oil-supplying infrastructure in clean and guerilla-safe environment.
(hey, did I doublepost? Tell me.)
You suggest something like Wermacht did to Leningrad during WW2, but in scale of country, not city?

see, the problem with that is the nuclear fallout and radiation poisoning. also, anthrax would kill anyone attempting to rebuild….so the country would not be able to be inhabited.
good idea though, just not possible.
(
I DID! )
Time to stop useless flaming, isn’t it? Why do you call these soldiers stupid? You are all fucking lucky that none of your relatives died in any of these conflicts (otherwise you wouldn’t insult the participants). I know that all these discussions don’t worth a penny, but the way you all represent your arguments makes me fell guilty for humankind. Over n out.
I want the Tsar back. He will put every Russian back into his place.

Has anyone ever heard of “American mail order brides”?????
I rest my case!
So Acts,
Once all of the Islamic types in Moscow start getting out of control, how are you going to handle them?
Texas1, it’s very unwise to associate Islam with terrorism
ridiculous arguments all around– schoolboys fighting over who’s father can kick who elses ass.

Also, we should unite against HOMOSEXUAL MEN, becasue they are GAY.

Hey Acts_of_Stupidity,
If you unite against homosexuals, you won’t have any more parades in Moscow. What will your butt buddies in Moscow think?
we’ve been secretly sending all the homosexuals to Russia

Please forgive our idiots from Texas. They like to talk big, but it’s just because they were bullied too much in school.
Most Americans are not like the fat, arrogant Texan idiots you always hear.
P.S. I taught English in Moscow for 1 year, and I have to say that Russia is a great country. Not perfect, but still great, like my home, the United States.
Счастливо!
Sheesh… Well that was interesting up until all the willy waving antics kicked in. What’s the use of arguing over millimeters when you’re clearly lacking inches! =D
To get the discussion back on track, various countries in the South Asia region are involved in shipbreaking as this Greenpeace site shows. One article on how an asbestos-laden ship was not allowed to be broken up in India suggests that some of the ships lying on their side might contain dangerous contaminants that would stop anyone from going near those ships, let alone salvage them for their metal.
The Belokamenka is on the Greenpeace watch list.

Read his book 9/11 synthetic terror. I believe he mentions this in the beginning of the book.
9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in USA

The original poster of this article is an idiot at best. None of the images he has posted were secret in any way, and none of the “objects” were secret to us in the Cold War. Remember the U2 spy planes? I was a submariner in the US Navy from 1985 to 1989. I can assure you, we were well aware of anything pictured above. I even photographed the “taifun” (actually spelled Typhoon in English) subs much closer than any satellite could ever do it (meters, not miles). Why post something like this? What did you hope to gain? You haven’t uncovered anything mysterious or secret. Secret mountain? No, just a strip mine. Get a clue.
Texas1 you ignorant asshole. Russia - USA = one and the same, like to fight wars, get their asses kicked when they under estimate their enemy. Simple. US suck, can’t even fight on level fields, can’t even fight developed nations. Oh and The Americans foguht off the British? Yeah remember that the guys fighting off the British, were British, moron. Guess what…They even had British accents, haha. Got to love American patriotism.
But anyways come back when you actually win a war. Oh and I mean a rela war, not any of this Gulf War shit. Russians killing starving men on camels? Americans are EXACTLY the same.
actually, the people that fought in the american revolution were not english, most of the people were 2nd and 3rd generation AMERICAN citizens. they were born and raised by people who were born and raised in the US. funny that a bunch of farmers kicked the ass of the most powerful nation in the world…..yet you still talk shit..hundreds of years later, after we bailed you out of two world wars.
If you dont think that we bailed you out, then you ought to at least agree that the money that the US gives England every year shouldnt be given to britain, but to American people who actually deserve it.
actually, the people that fought in the American Revolution were born in American, by people that were born in America. (mostly). they might have had british accents…but not because they were british…it is much like people from africa have french accents….see the point? make the connection?
it is also funny that a bunch of farmers beat the strongest nation in the world at the time…..not to mention, we have bailed you out of two world wars, and you still show this type of attitude? and to add insult to injury, we give your country money every year! millions! and yet you have nothing good to say about us? pathetic really…..still bitter over what happened 200+yrs ago apparantly.
I thought that the Kursk sank while testing hybrid supersonic torpedos via cavitation, or does anyone remember that.
http://cryptome.org/kursk.htm
You guys need to realize there is no such thing as Fair in War. Rules are ALWAYS for looks.
Thanks for the pictures. I can’t believe that many ships would just be left laying on their side like that. They could have been given away to poor countries or soemthing.
To AK-47–
Please stop generalizing all Texans into the neat little category you seem to believe we fit in. We are not all “fat, arrogant[...] idiots”. Nor were we all bullied in school (which is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, btw). Some of us actually have brains and can use them quite well, thank you.
Here’s what I don’t get about my fellow Americans: We (And I don’t include myself in this because I did not vote for W. Either time.) bitch and complain about our government and the way things are run and the way the rest of the world sees us and blah blah blah, yet the moment anyone else dares to say a word about the fact that something we’re doing might not be right, or any little derogatory comment about the US, we all go apeshit and start calling everyone names and blaming everything on everyone else.
Could someone please explain this to me?
Oh, btw, to whoever said we molest our little sisters in Texas– Get a brain. And a clue.
– Another Texan
this statement :”…. legendary “Kursk” submarine, the one which got sank a few years ago near Murmansk and whole crew died, because the rescue team has not come in time.” is not true….look for the facts…
“I can’t believe that many ships would just be left laying on their side like that. They could have been given away to poor countries or soemthing.”
You mean to a poor country like Russia? The reason they are left there like that is that their owners, or the military did not have the financial resources to maintain them or dispose of them properly.
“Texas1, it’s very unwise to associate Islam with terrorism”
Are you kidding Steelbud? To not associate Islam with terrorism at this time is to ignore the obvious. Islam as a religion may not be responsible for individual’s actions but, clearly something about the faith is currently associated with the violent actions of so many of its followers. To not associate Islam with terrorism would be like not associating Christianity with the Crusades. The sooner people accept there is an issue the sooner they can make a change to fix the problem.

Hmm those aupmarines shouldn’t be mixed with the russian Taifun submarines. Those are “Project 941 Akula” NATO-callsign:Typhoon -subs
the kursk sank because the soviets used a chemical propulsion system in thir torpedos that mixes two chemicals to create a ga stream which is forced through a small turbine, hydrogen peroxide i think. this setepis simple but its irreversible-u cant stop one once it starts.the britsh also used this syetem but had some fatal accidents when the chemicals accidentally combined,i know theu sank at least one sub. the brits “hydrophones” reported the sound of a torpedo explosion when the kursk sank.the story is that the chemicals are corrosive, and damage their own feed lines and tanks inside the torpedo itself-they mix and cause the casing to explode, invisible and fatal to the sub. im sorry those submariners were killed, that service is for brave people, and that includes russians……….
i love this file
I betcha my Russians put them abandoned ships, sumbarine”s,oil tanker to look like nobody exist”s there. So that the dam CIA,Fed”s,USA military, and the other organizations, like people that use satellite technology to track Russia or other enemy;s they had in the past in war or in a bad poltical sitution.
I say that my people the russians did because so Americans don”t have to get on russians nerves.Hey if i was president of Russia I be more crazy then that dumass motherfucker lame ass Kim Jong korean guy.he think he is tough USSR is tough.During cold war we my country Russia had a Nuclear war situation”s.Did Kim Jong 2 or whatever did that hell fuck no.Oh yey aslo qiut bieng so dam tough Korea.Only Russia is the craziest country in nuclear weapons. Also they still have the most powerful nuclear weapon. It is called the tsar bomb 50 megaton multihrodgen bomb plus aslo the cleanist bomb too 97 percent of radition.
how soviets manages these huge expenses.some time i realy think about the mindset of hardliners of the cpsu, central committee,s bosses.they dont thik about their orders.after issuing them?if they expend their wealth on the people of cccp, they might be richest in the world.
You know whats funny? people were dissing the US in getting “beat” in Nam, while the Soviet Union got its ass handed to itself in Afghanistan by a bunch of towel headed mountain folks. So please, dont bring up Nam. Mighty Russia has failed before as well.

Wow… its secret foto!
Well, while you retards argue about wars fought 25 - 30 years ago, it’s nice to see the much vaunted glorious Russian Navy rusting away in to oblivian (saved the U.S. Navy from having to sink those rust buckets in the first place). Too bad about all the pollution going on there though — that really sucks for the Russian people.
Ahhhhh….The Cold War: It would have been glorious!
It’s all over now. Mere museum pieces, and some scaled back forces to keep international order by policing, and internal actions to protect states and their funders, the multi-national corporations.
The super geeks like Bill Gates control the world now not the tough guys and gangsters, and he can likely throw some secret switch in Windows and screw up the whole planet and the internet before it all got straightened out in time.
The super rich, multi-nationalists and their multi-national corporations call the shots now. These people are not bount to backyard thinking. They have homes, and investments all over the world, and to them more deveopment, and more investment in other countries means more money for them. They don’t want to see the markets crash or cause any upset and loose their money.
It’s not a matter of countries and borders anymore, it’s what the market dictates, and the mega-rich investors that run the planet now.
Capitalism has won, plain and simple. Communism is dead. People are inherantly selfish, or protect themselves first before taking care of others so the idea of communism was doomed from the start.
Capitalism means to reward oneself first, and then help out the others if you choose.
History has proven over and over that when some dictator whether it be a state leader or even a corporate leader begins to monopolize, or try forcing his ideals on everybody else, the larger community joins together at some point to fight back.
You guys sit on here and talk about whos dick is biggest like old cold war talk.
It’s all about money.
Putin nationalized some of your freedoms by taking control of your oil, and natural resources for the good of the state no different than the U.S. invading some oil country, or doing what it sees fit to secure its interests as well.
The way I see it is that Russia got tired of the paranoia, and the fighting with the U.S., and turned their sights to making money like the U.S. has done for many years.
Their are remenants of the old world, but as time marches on even China, and the rest of the old world will become so intertwined in each others business, and become so multi-invested that nobody is going to want to upset the market and their money, prosperity, or money making potential by engaging in some costly war.
Wars will be police actions to root out trouble makers who try to cost the corporations and the investers money by stirring up trouble.
Does anyone really believe that leaders like Putin, and Bush don’t talk about this stuff to each other?
That they don’t play “good cop, bad cop”, and put on a staged show for the world while they know all along what they are both doing?
Each has too much to loose to ever go back to the way things once were.
Somebody would really have to do something of gigantic proportions to see America and Russia in a war. China and the Taiwan situation, or the middle-east bothers me more than Russia.
If Russia and the U.S. ever wanted to go at each other, they had plenty of time and opportunities. I’d be more concerned about rising powers and what they do with their newfound powers since they are new at it, and not used to wielding such power.
They are the ones to watch. Russia, and America are old and mature countries that had every opportunity to do the unspeakable and they didn’t.
It’s the unknowns that we don’t know about not the knowns.
Regards,
Peace All!

Since metal salvaging is taking off due to China buying up so much regular use metal & the world’ desire to recycle & reuse, why don’t the Russians (either by their own construction barges or through outside cooperation) drag those wrecks & capsizes onto the shore to cut them up & reutilize all of the metal, wood, wires, & innards etc.?
Every part of a wreck is usable.
Heck, I’d do it w/ some help. I’d get a crew together & slowly pull 1 visible wreck out of the harbor after another.
Shoot, I’d probably be able add onto a vessel from one of the wrecks.
The metals not used could bring a nice price?
I may not even sell the metals or the part for that matter.
Simply cut them up & sand blast them nice & new. Then, use the sheets as outer layering for rooftops or even new hull material.
Anyone w/ me?

Picture #21 is remnants (earth berms) of site for Lavochkin OKB S-75 (NATO reporting name SA-2 Guideline) surface-to-air missiles. Each of the six drive-through revetments would contain a launcher, and the central one the radar and control system.
S-75 system has been obsolete thirty years or more, but was much used during Viet Nam. NVA had many.

Wow, what a string! Hopefully, some day, we can all realize it is governments, greed, and the want of power that make war. All the people on the streets worldwide all want the same thing. And sadly, as mentioned, all the blood is red when it hits the ground.
Recycling the ships is always mentioned when they are seen. Doing that economically and making it profitable is hard. The beaching method is most practical and that takes some very specific beach and tidal conditions. These conditions exist in areas in India, and the work force is available there also. Even at that, changing conditions of the scrap market can hamper efforts and remove profitability. Couple that with the costs to avoid environmental damages, and it’s cheaper to find other types of ferrous scrap, or process more iron ore. Hence, many discarded ships worldwide sit where they are. Maybe some day this can change.
You Russians would be speaking German and Hitler would be your leader if not for the U.S. , your inabillity to keep up with us in the cold war has turned your country into a poor beaten nation . Can you imagine the environmental impact from all those abandoned ships? Someone should tell Green Peace.
one question for the Americans on here??
Vietnam
korean war
iraq (invaded for oil)
afghanistan
gulf war
etc
American war efforts are pitiful. You are the biggest failures in diplomacy the world has ever seen, save for your neighbour the Aztecs.
Russian people sacrificed 28 million people saving the British in WW2
The Americans decided to join when provoked, who’s to say that unless Pearl Harbour happened you’d have even joined the war… who’s to say the Americanc wouldnt have deserted the French, Brits etc
ohh and where was America when Russia walzed into Georgia last year? You couldn’t intervene, because even now your scared of what the repercussions could be… Russia’s nuclear stockpiles give the American Regime nightmares, doesn’t it.
Everyone hates you… The entire world would love to see every american hillybilly crash and burn, only the puppets Britain would stand by your side.
Heed my words because one day we WILL pick up the weapons of old and you WILL come crashing down!!
Regards Vietnam and Korea… Stalemates and withdrawl are inevitable when FREE press turn emotions of peoples away from war. Not such a bad thing though right?
Powerful peoples invoke powerful forces. Politicians do not always have good of common citizen in mind, whether US, USSR, Russia, GB, PRC or any other… Politicians crave only more power.
Afghan and Iraq wars are kneejerk reactions which will may fail. To early to know yet.
USA may piss off many. But the last time I looked USA never had to build walls to keep people in only now to keep people out.
The future is unwritten. You can use sword or plow. Plant fear or hope and reap death or life.
Fantastic !!
Congratulations. A “nice” place to visit !!!
this is a totally wastage of the resources. they use so much metal in those ship and now they all are abandoned. they need to recycle it for other things.
I am Russian and an American. I have 2 citizenship’s, one from Russia and other from USA…
I know the way both nations think… I can tell you only one thing; YOU ARE ALL THE SAME…
And if you think that I am wrong, make a few steps back and watch wider.
I see it now; you will see it in 10 years, when corporate Russia will be just like USA, same benefits, same problems. In fact, right now this is the last moment to see Russia and its strange Russian soul, because, as I said, in 10 years it will be no difference but “Nothing personal” or we can call it “Business”
USA? Russia? Blah, blah, blah!
