True story: While teaching in St. Petersburg I had a student named Sergi. Nice kid and a good student, but he was seriously into the whole hip-hop, gangsta, bling bling lifestyle. What made it funny was that this kid was as white as a Siberian winter.
He would bring me the lyrics from various rap songs and ask me to explain to him what they meant. Since I don’t speak nigger it was a difficult task.
Happy to say he finally outgrew the whole silly thing and is now an engineering student in St. Petersburg.
