Disregarding the ugly gaping hole it is a truly magnificent site. So much open space!

    2. Such a big hole to dig up such a little stones: man is truly crazy.

    8. PAZUZU says:

Why are all the trees dead as far as the eye can see? Great pics.

    9. cia says:

Cool pictures of taiga, even though tundra & taiga are not really that pretty.

Too bad so much destruction is necessary for materialism and silly trinkets.

    10. Francois says:

Funny, people are outraged by this hole in the ground.
What I see there is human greatness.
Such a big hole to fetch what we want…
So much ingeneering, so much boldness…

And also, such a tiny hole in this boring forest.
      So much left for us…

What some see as destruction, I see as greatness…

    11. SSSR says:

First it was big rigs and now big dump trucks.

It is nice to see that the USA is helping Russia with its automotive needs :)

Oh, my goodness. Finally I found the blog about Russia in English. Hm. I was about to launch the WP blog EnglishYakutia and had some doubts about the success. Well. Thanks a lot, guys, for showing me a light in the tunnel :) Will follow your blog for sure.

      • PAZUZU says:

Maybe The tundra is supposed to look like that? I live in British Columbia Canada and it’s all green forest but who knows, I’ve never been to the tundra. What a great site.

    13. Nafets says:

ye what PAZUZU sayd, why all trees dead? :(

      • den says:

They are not dead! These are larch forests and pictures are taken in spring. Climate in Yakutia is continental and there are few snow in the winter, nevertheless it is extremly cold.
