      • SSSR says:

I think Lithuania was part of the Soviet Union. It has been many years since I saw the Sovien Union on a map.Are there any traces of the former USSR anywhere in your country like statues or hammer and sickles?

        • SSSR says:

Obviously I did not read the top first!!

        • Heroix says:

Soviet symbols are banned, but there is soviet remembering park called “Grūto parkas” where all statues and everything is taken from all towns of Lithuania that reminds soviets.

          • SSSR says:

Thanks for the info Heroix:)I wonder if a person could get in trouble for wearing a shirt with a hammer and sickle on it in Lithuania.Soviet symbols have become a cool fashion trend for some occasions.

    6. With that time, many country in the war, USA JAPANESE, China, that life is not very well.

    7. lietuvis says:

    8. Mr. Basta says:

Soviet Union did a lot of good for Lithuania. Now there is crisis.

      • Bio says:

dumbest comment i have ever seen ;)) actually, nothing made as much harm as Soviet Union to Lithuania.

        • Typical baltic propaganda, go kill yourself.

          • Taavi says:

Nope, all Soviet Union did was pollute the enviroment, destroy the demographics, etc. The Union just basically raped our nations and lands. And the sucessor of the USSR, Russia, doesn’t even want to take responsibility for it…

Nothing good at all. (All from personal experience, I’m Estonian by the way)

          • You dont live here so you dont know. You know only what your lieing politicans and media tell you. SO STFU and mind your own business

            • Anti putin says:

typicall dumb russian answer…agressive..full with crap..without facts and arguments…

(there are also smart russians, but your not one of them)

(ps. there are also smart russians who are assholes too, putin for example, finally, everybody is fucked, exept him.. and he says HAHA! and is rich, old people die, young people have no jobs)

    9. there is nothing more sad than a person of soviet mentality!
numb, frightened, without freedom of choice, without need of thinking, brainwashed, limited , isolated from the rest of the world.

the ones who support the system are either too young to remember these days, or too old to get rid of this soviet mentality complex.

I fyou still think, that soviet era was a great time, take a closer look at the North Korea, the shut the fuck up!!

    10. TaupeyAna says:

My physician in Arizona Is a Lithuanian Jewish gentleman he’s an outstanding doctor and human being. And he has always treated me like a daughter.

Interesting photographs, Thank You for sharing them.

    11. russian says:

Early years of ocupation by soviet union did harm to Lithuania as it did harm to Russia and other countries. But later years, after 70ties where not so bad, ofcourse, it we all had stupid system and stupid laws, but still it wasn’t even comparable to horror when Stalin was alive. I would agree with Putin that Soviet Union falling caused humanitarian disaster, cause same soviet politics and their family members just privatisated and stole all good that was left from SU. Lithuanians are nice people, bit sad that they hate us, but i and many of us don’t feel any regrets and pretenzies to their land. Yes, soviet build their flats, roads, hospitals, schools, but it was because that stupid soviet leaders wanted russians to be poorer and drunkards because we were majority, like a glue. If we could have money and more power, our nationalistic pride would confront soviet thinking. Sad but ocupation was invetible, Germans would caused more harm in much shorter time, but it’s not the point. We were ocupated by the regime from inside. I realy don’t like when we are the only to blame, all commies where from all corners of SU.
      Vadim

    12. russian says:

vaidas beliunas, are you really so thick? Comparing failed system of post Stalin Soviet Union with Stalinistic evil North Korea one is a totaly retarded. And please, shut the fuck up about soviet mentality. There where few lunatics that would run around with a Soviet flag sticking from their arse. You just insulted majority of ex-soviet people by saying that rubish. Even so called hardcore soviet lovers back in those times were almost noninterested in politics, we mostly where interested in getting metal/rock music, it was sad that we where isolated be we had so many nice places in soviet union, and we visited spa’s and other places. We where not limited, we had one of the best education in the worlds. Admit it. But time is running like a sand and i only miss my friends and my young form, not a stupid system

    13. n says:

yeah, amazing.) people look the same
they also have eyes, nose, mouth fingers ext .)

    14. Vilensky says:

The USSR kept the Lithuanians from discriminating against its minority Polish population, as it does today. If it wasn’t for the USSR, there would be no Polish schools left today in the Wilenszczyzna region.

    15. aa2 says:

I think russians suffered most from the soviet system, yet there are SOME russians who fail to understand that. Maybe its because most of the intellectuals and free-thinkers were killed or sent to gulags by Lenin and Stalin and this has had an enormous impact on demographics and thus has influenced what people think nowadays. Proletariat was used as a tool by soviet system, right now the proletariat doesnt know what to think of the current situation because it has never had any ideas of its own -it wasnt supposed to think at all, just to obey what the party said but now the situations is changed - people should start thinking about their situations and accept their past and start making plans for the future.

    16. Tom says:

      Photography of Antanas Sutkus.

    17. Daddy77 says:

Could I be more strict with my diet? ,

    18. Was USSR good or bad? - take a look at berlin. East side of berlin is completely fucked up and real estate is cheaper there and jobs are less paid, while west berlin is the oposide. I wonder why.
