This is an example of sample Russian disco party.
It looks the same probably in all the Russian not so big towns.
All guys who visit are ready to fight, they find somebody who is alien there and attack. And nobody would call police - just because it’s not something unusual - if you going to visit Russian disco party in smaller towns - you take the responsibility of participation in the fight.
Most of the young guys know that they need to be tough because they are going to go to Russian army and in Russian army it’s more like in prison - officers don’t control what happen - there is a big hierarchy between the soldiers.
Those soldiers who served longer - they beat EVERY day the younger ones - just because when they came - they were treated in the same manner. In Russian army there is thousands of soldiers die every year just because of this. And nobody cares. The latest story that was discussed nationwide in Russia is regarding one soldier who lost both of his legs because he was humiliated awfully in the army.
So when the elder guys return from army they have a broken psychics which is being transfered to the younger generations.

It’s true … It’s f**king REAL true. Everyday I have to see this foolish faces on the streets and in the Metro. And the situation in Russian Army is so terrible that nobody foreign can feel the horror which starts chasing every boy on his 18th birthday.

Lazy Putin & Co. don’t understand that professional army is the way to follow… at the end it would be the most efficient option, both economically and militarily (needless to tell about socially).
But be sure they think: what the point of carrying out such laborious reform is? Lots of work, young unemployment would raise and wouldn’t contribute to keep on filling our pockets… mmmmmm… let’s leave things as they’re and let’s take a look on something else more profitable…
Meanwhile, Russian guys who can’t afford bribes to avoid being recruited will continue being absorbed by a whirlpool of cheap alcohol and irrational violence.
PS: While countryside guys go to army, Sergey Ivanov jr., (son of russian defense minister, aged 23) was appointed vice-president of Gazprombank.
So why is it called “The Russian disco party”?
Just looks like some “bad-ass wannabees” are taking pictures of themselves and their blyadis.
Speaking of countryside disco`s they are (usually) quite nasty indeed. And guys shown above are typical for those places. And yes, they can be aggresive if you cross them, just as any other mobsters anywhere in the world.
Speaking of army - I think it`s the biggest pain in the ass of our country. It just rots from inside - because of obsolete methods of control and incompetence of high command. And I see no way of reforming it now.
Sometimes I even think that it would take a completle disband of the whole thing to fix it.
Some of these photos made rounds on the Lithuanian net with captions “disco in a local village school.” Seemed Lithuanian enough, now it’s good to know that they were not in fact made in Lithuania
I’ll have to disagree with those generalizations. Been there on described places few times and haven’t met anykind of problems. Ok, maybe on a small scale…
Local ones might have some issues among themselves and militia might visit few times. But if you remember to behave and dont provocate anyone there shouldn’t be any special danger.
I.e dont show off with your money, dont be arrogant and most important, be extremely careful when picking up local girls -> You probably have extremely fun and lots of new friends. Same rules worldwide?

Although I’ve never been to Russia, I doubt this is truly representative of a typical Russian “disco.” It looks to me like someone trying to document the worst of Russian youth and pass it off as typical. Besides, none of these guys look any worse to me than what I see hanging around any 7-11 on a Friday/Saturday night.
In every Eastern country you’ll find this types of “parties”. I think Romania leads in that.

I would like to see californian “gopniks”, really=))) “Bidlo” - it is just a funny themes on russian web-sites. You can find them in a small towns of contryside, but not in Moscow! You can find gopniks at small poor towns and unfavorable, poor and criminal districts. Does your country haven’t some criminal districts?

Absolutely, we have criminal districts in the United States. However, I think our criminals often have different motivations than criminals in Russia. In criminal districts in the United States, people are more likely to rob or steel for some money for drugs. Our criminals aren’t worried about food and housing. In many cases, not all, our criminals are in no condition to resort to violence. The effects of drug abuse have basically made them too weak.

Well. I live in Moscow (it’s our capital city, if you don’t know), and I want to say, that this type of our citizen is terrible. Thanks to God, that there aren’t so many such persons everwhere in our country. I really hate them… “patsani” =)))
But don’t be so critical. Our country have problems. Many serious problems… And we are looking for a new way to make our life better. It’s crisis today. And in crisis many persons just have chosen this way to live. This way help them to find a reason to join their efforts to live in very hard moment for our country. It’s mostly hard for people who are living too far from big cities.
I really don’t know why this type of uor citizen have chosen such kind of clothes and so on… But I really believe, that in a further future our live will become more stable and more… errr… beautiful for eyes of foreign citizen. And I also want to say, that it will be best case, if our european friends help us with their words. Don’t forget a history. Today i’m sure that for our country everything is possible - to win a war or to develop our economy. Now we are like in a bad dream. I mean citizen of our country.
We will be friends and I believe in it. Our cultures fit together perfectly. Because we are part of Europe culture, and Europe culture get something from us.

I am American Borne and Raised. Not all Americans Believe the Propaganda feed to the people by the Media and government. Some of us are able to see through the lies. Unfortunately many people do. American Propaganda is so effective. Because we are taught from an early age by government education that the media is to be believed. Because according to the constitution we have freedom of the Press and they would not lie to the people. But the press is not free it is controlled by who Ever has the most Money and all that Person cares about is ware he or she is going to get more money. So they feed us only the information they think is the most profitable. Many Americans are ignorant to this fact. They are to wrapped up in there own lives to see the big picture and that’s how the government controls us. The media tells us how we need to live. The Media tries to make you feel less adequate if you don’t have new things all the time. As soon as you buy that thing there is a new thing to buy and on and on and on. So ignorant people who what to keep up with what is perceived to be the “American Life Style” buy these things and eventually they have no money. That’s ok if you don’t have the money. Get credit from the Bank who owns the Media. The media tells you need all these things. So people borrow money from the bank. The bank charge interest on that money that almost never gets paid off. Because all they tell you to pay is the interest not the balance of the loan. If you make the Minimum payments you never get out of debt you are always there SLAVE. It is all ok to the American Government because they can TAX you more if you are working and you have to because you owe the bank money. IT IS A SLAVE SYSTEM GUYSED AS AMERICAN FREEDOM / CAPITALISM. The American government is very corrupt. The AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IS LIKE ORGANIZED CRIME. In life frequently ask your self. WHO HAS THE MONEY AND WHO HAS THE POWER?
I can’t say that I know any thing about Russian life. I want to learn more that is why I like sites like this. I know I can’t know fully but it helps me to see the bigger picture. My wife is Serbian I have spent considerable time in Serbia with her Family and Friends. From what I have Experienced There The Slavic way of life is a more Meaningful way of life. The American Government has done Atrocities against Serbia but no one treated me bad while in Serbia. I asked several people in Serbia if they hated Americans. They I was told from several people that I am American But I have no control of my government. Just as Serbs did not like being Communist but they did not have a choice. To make one person responsible for the problems of there government is just ignorant. As People we need to look at each human being for who they are as a Person.
Ps: As for the Pictures it should be asked why they are portrayed to be such people savage people who benefits from making them look Bad. I see no Black eyes no Pictures of a Fight. Girls are publishing their profiles on theweb to get a rich foreigner as a husband and VISA, then divorce him. In clubs, girls areliterally spreading their legs for any foreigner who’s buying Moet&Chandon at the bar. It’s just sick. Of course, not all of the girls are like that. But a hell of a lot.

To those guys who said there is no too much girls. Let me present a little bit of statistics. In Russia amount of girls exceeds amount of guys and the ratio is 65 to 35. So when you are going in the club you ‘ll see a lot of girls. And many of them are pretty hot. It is not like in US when you go to club and see 1 girl for 5-7 guys. Also, if you did any research on your arguments, you would realize that 40% of Americans are considered rich; though that is not a small number, most American’s don’t live the “good, rich, democratical life.” I’ll admit that I know very little about Russia, but I’ll research facts to back up opinions. Speaking of researching facts, did you know that in 2005 there were 33 billionaires in Russia? And the number grows quite steadily each year, generally about 6 more people each year. So don’t point the finger and say, “They are only about money, money, and money,” because we can do that right back at you. Also, the people in the list seem to be doing quite well, for example Roman Abramovich moved up 10 places to the 11th place on the world list in one year. Yes, America is corrupt and is becoming dangerous for the reasons you listed and no, it doesn’t deserve much sympathy, but don’t make a sweeping generalization that all Americans are money hungry pigs who have low intelligence and like to eat burgers. If you want people to realize that Russia is a great country, then stop giving people reasons to hate Russia. Also, Moscow is, last time I checked, 3rd most expensive city. Not money hungry, eh?

Since my parents have gotten a divorce, life has been much more calmer and we haven’t been having to walk on eggshells. Also, if Russia is so much better than America in every aspect, then you should never have left it.

I live in a Russian city which has 1 million people and, funnily enough, I can hear this sorta party going on right now, just outside my room - its my landlord’s party. Oh, and it’s 4AM, by the way. They cheer and sing loud and nasty, which keeps me from falling asleep so I guess I’m going to miss classes tomorrow.
As for the military issue - it’s been long said by human rights advocates (who themselves are often victimized in Russia) that the draft is akin to feudal serfdom. The Russian army itself serves not to protect Russia but humiliate and oppress its people.
I couldn’t be more sorry to have been born in any other country.

Wow! I have read most (not all) of these posts and what actually struck me as odd were the posts from Russians apologizing for these photos. Prior to this set, I was browsing through the many other Russian photos on this site, and I see nothing a Russian Citizen needs to be apologizing for. I see a beautiful, rich, diverse, and ancient culture that my bland US born butt could only wish for. Of course this comes with some downside (much downside sometimes) but everything from the good and the bad, the poor and the rich is what gives a country and a people character and that is nothing to be ashamed of. All these photos make me want to explore and live in the Russian culture for some significant time to develop a more accurate sense of what daily life is like there. I also feel like this when it comes to all the “Old Worlds” of Europe, Scandinavia, etc. You are right; We in the US hear practically nothing about what is happening in Russia unless there is some great tragedy like the Beslan School Horror or some major military act like Russia’s move into north Georgia. God bless you Russians; Growing up through the wax and wane of the cold war, Russia feels like a dark secretive Kinsman (a brother somehow)to me. If the USSR (for nostalgia) were to somehow instantly not exist then I know I would miss her, and I am a true blue American Patriot. Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way. Remember all the stupid drills we had to do as kids like hunkering under our desks in the event of a Soviet Nuclear missile strike, all the fear mongering and stereotypes epitomized in the movie Red Dawn?
