The Northern Fleet Submarines

Russian submarines

Russian Northern fleet is mainly based on shores of the White Sea and the Arctic Ocean. It has some great looking large submarines that are often a good thing to look to feel what huge machines people can build.

      Attack subs, not that huge

    5. But, I ordered a meatball sub!

    6. Fred Mask says:

Wow, never thought subs were that huge. If you take a closer look, some of those look slightly rotten though …

      • KBR says:

it is normal, Americana subs have the same problem. Well expect on official pictures, but that is normal, sea water is bad for a sub no matter if Russian or American.

    7. toni says:

wow, russians use subs in lakes

    8. It’s a testament to how fucked up Russia is… they keep these useless albatrosses around so they can pretend they’re still important and have crap roads, schools, and health care.

      Way to go Ivan.

Look at first at the country the idiot stupid. Having visited the different countries to me is with what to compare. Large powers can create to themselves the arms, those that buy it from them more poorly, absolutely weak small states-it of the whore, the whore give to those who pays more. The army is important, it is vital interest of the country. 1. Integrity - army is necessary. 2. Economic interests - all the same as, but there should be a growth, and the army is for this purpose often necessary. If there is no army that state to become the whore. Russia to be that does not wish, and consequently these albatrosses, to be exact others, typhoons (onboard everyone about 16 ballistic missiles with 20 warheads everyone) will constantly turn nearby to coast of America that Americans did not forget, their vital interest is based on fear thanks to what, I at least, live in Russia instead of in the American colony.

Windows on a submarine? I think there’s a joke in there somewhere

      • Mo says:

The upper part of the tower where the windows are is flooded once the submarine submerges. The crew uses this part only when the weather is very stormy, so they don’t get blown away or frozen by the cold wind.

    11. SSSR says:

Is that a confederate flag in pic 3?

    12. I can’t find the Red October though! ;-)

    13. Gerry says:

Seems all of these behomeths are missile launching subs. 24-36 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles. They always sortie out as a duet. One Russki sub, one hunter-killer sub (US). They perform a dance, you might say, a dance macabre.

    14. Pete. says:

It seems odd viewing these Russian boats from above the waterline and against the backdrop of the landscape. The last time I did this for real the vis was always so so and it was AlWAYS blowing a hoolie.
Oh and by the way….the US had allies during the Cold War, they did not do it all themselves. Though they’d rather you thought they did!
