Hobbit Huts in Latvia
A Latvian billionaire implemented a fantastic project nearby Cēsis town in Latvia. If you’ve believed there is no Sun City, only Sin City, now you can see that you’ve been totally wrong. There people live according to special rules and have a routine different from those of common human beings. The three-storey houses are constructed of green materials and are located on various height so that the dwellers don’t see other houses from the windows of their own. If you want to live in a hobbit hut, you know now where to head.

I tried very hard to find at least one weak spot - and I did
a) The stairway on picture 5 and the solution of the ground floor is very probably uselessly heavy. The Cyclopean stone structures are natural in mountains, on their steep slopes, but they seem overkill in Latvia.
b) The chimney on 2nd photo is less than perfect. The stone plating (if used at all) definitely should not be ending some 50 cm above the roof.

The houses which have thatched roofs are 70% of the total cost of the house(and i mean building cost not market sale). I do love the thatched roof as it lasts for 15-20 years if it’s properly done and you don’t have to worry about anything. but in my opinion only couple of houses look nice, others are medicore and vulgar because they don’t mix in with the nature as there’s too much windows/glass and stone/rock… should have more lumber as it mixes in with all the Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian area from the past times(history).
That place is PC snobs self made pergatory. Piss off your back deck you get to be a sex offender for the rest of your life. There’s places like this all over Seattle. Miserable places. Funny how now they have forsale signs and there aren’t any takers.
During summer months I bet the mosquitoes are big enough to stand flatfooted and fuck a turkey.

1st Costs for such a house ar dramatically dropped now during the recession.
2nd you can see on this site many interesting thing from soviet, ex-soviet countries, so so what that site is called neglish russia - all ex soviet countries got common history with Russia so its interesting to see whats new in those countries nowadays.
3rd Why always historical factor comes up when talking is going on about Latvia? Ok, Latvians and Russians arent getting along too well, but that is mainly because all the facts ar interpreted wrong. If someone from those big screamers about “hating, faschism, shithole, etc” did some digging on history that they would see, that Latvians werent on nazis or soviet side all that they wnated was freedom. And just because Latvians were divided in two groups - one whioh fight on soviet side and another on nazis side - their ideology was that they are fighting to gain independence, thats all. So maybe screamers could think a bit before shouting and we all could live side by side in peace.
p.s. those who want to start about how bad it is to be a russian in Latvia dont even start, I have seen what shows Russian Television or news pages, its all false. maybe its hard to believe, but those latvian Russians who are shouting that they are repressed not even a proper russians, they are ’stroibataljon’ which has been fluddded in during soviet era and only have russian nationality while ethnically they are god knows what.
p.p.s. im not trying to start a fight, just telling the real situation.
