Glass Parking Lots

The main problem of drivers in any big city including Moscow is where to park, especially when you are in the centre and there seems to be no free lots for a few decades more. In Europe there are loads of parking paid space, and they even have special buildings just for autos. But here in Russian that’s not a tradition yet, though, it really should be. One way of solving the problem is constructing multistory automated parking garages, and Muscovites are about to make these glass buildings widely spread (of course, if they will manage to save up money enough to cover enormous expenses).

The most awesome thing about this parking garage is that it can have 34 and even more autos at a time on a space of a bit more than 100 square meters.

The construction is made of metal frame, its elements, mainly special blocks, are easily put on each other on the same principle as a kids’ construction set and requires no wielding at all. To me it looks more like a house of cards than a stable structure, too light and too shaky, but it’s just an illusion (I hope), as almost every wall there is transparent and looks airy.
One of the major advantages of the construction is record-breaking terms of building, the project is usually implemented in 30-35 days or so and the site is ready for launching.
Depending on its height (22-28 meters), the tower can have 6-14 levels or floors and provide space for a great deal of cars – from 22 to 54 big and small vehicles. The towers can be easily coupled with other one of the same type, be attached to apartment houses or administrative buildings as well as deepen into the ground for as many floors as it’s needed. Forget about the time when you had treed in front of you bedrooms, not it’s era for cars to be next to you window, that’s quite an unexpected thing, isn’t it?
Before getting into the conduction, you (if you are a driver) take a card.

You vehicle is lifted on interchanging moving pallets, which are placed on a lifting and lowering gear, which consists of a rectangular platform with a middle circle turning 360 degrees.

An operator can control the parking both on his computer and the sensor screen.

You get in and out the parking lot on the first level. On each of the floors there can be four cars at a time, except for the two lower ones – there can be no more than two autos. And that makes sense as on the first level there are located operator rooms, the automated firefighting system and the switchboard room, which provide safety and other important things.

The autos are placed on four sides, and the time for lifting oк lowering a car takes less than 50 seconds.

First, the system takes a free pallet, than lowers it and after the driver leaves his car is driven on it, the vehicle rushes high into the air – up to the required level and occupies a free lot.

The construction is heated and has a water-supply system. In winder the temperature inside the building is 6C above zero, when the temperature outside is 35C below zero.

The platform can lift a car weighing up to 2,700 kilos.

The first level is for parking off-road vehicles and minivans.

On the right there is a diesel generator. In case there will be a power cutoff, it’ll help to discharge the whole parking in 30 minutes.

Once the driver pays, he can leave.

FIRST!!!!!
nah sry….but this is pretty sick…..great design
The first thing they should do here is introduce parking meters - but I know it is impossible because of the potential corruption and thievery.
Ok. Second, they should make cars much much more expensive and tax them severely. Use the money to expand and improve metro - it is the best !! But like before said, it is hard to enforce, Russian do not like to pay taxes and try to evade laws as a reflex, plus again, corruption, corruption. It si the dream of every Russian to drive a large SUV, X5 is popular !! It has to be stopped !!
And finally, this thing is ugly.
and if some will break and car or cars go down?
It’s not all that impressive- german car company Smart has been using this kind of buildings for years now. Just google “smart tower” and see it yourself.
What I think is impressive is that they managed to find not one but two clean cars in Moscow!
OMG. there are many nice and clean cars in Moscow. welcome to the earth :/
Not that many, mostly they are dirty beyond imagination. I’ve beeen to moscow and many cars were so dirty that it was hard to guess what color they were.
It´s normal in wintertime. In Russia there is long time winter
Don’t you think that of all nations Germans should’ve known that by now?
Don’t you think that of all nations Germans would know that?
OMG, in Moscow there are many clean and nice cars. welcome to the earth
OHHHH someone hand me a BB gun
better yet, i don’t think i will have to vandalize anything..
a drunk russian pilot will fly his SU-27 right into it
Not cool bro, the pilot died.
And he wasn’t fuckin’ drunk.
Do you have that itch in your ass that makes people troll?
“Tho” not “doh”!
Or are you Homer J. Simpson?!
This is little greenhouse, your car will melt down
Cool pics doh.
This place will last for long, drunk Russians will destroy it very soon.
This idea should last about as long as a Popsicle in hell …
I don’t think hes a redneck…I think he’s a jewbag.
he’s probably an immigrant/dissident from the USSR living somewhere in Brooklyn, New York.
This is not the False Kirov, I am not jew but even : what is your problem with Jews ? You are one of those Ukrainian anti-Semites ? One of those that think all problems are someone else’s fault ? Like the jews, the blacks or the West???. No you, a parasite, you are the problem with your fatalistic and negative attitude. You will bring this country closer and closer to the edge of the abyss.
Yes, i’m jewish expat and proud redneck from Texas. I hate russians!

Только не пускайте сюда толстых американцев, а то здание не выдержит такого веса и все рухнет!!!
ДжейсонИ много пьяных русских будут вести свои автомобили через стакан и падение к их смертельным случаям.

This isn’t false Kirov Speaking (he is a worthless redneck).
I think it’s a waste of money. Seriously.
Your birth was the start of a waste of money. You speak nonsense and hate this country. Stay dead. Please!
You close your mouth, he is telling the verity, simple parking is less expensive so it is a waste of monney for us.
You’re typical Russian drunkard.
So much potential FAIL I don’t even know where to begin…
Look at the “parking” photos above. Clearly this is needed in crowded city. The glass looks very good but it may be cheaper with solid material. The cars cannot appreciate view.
I think this is an excellent idea. We need something like this in the USA, especially the city I live in. No more would they tear down buildings for parking lots. They’ll build more!
This is like Mad Magazine prophesy. I remember seeing a Mad article by Al Jaffee late 1970’s edition; for solutions for parking problems. This design was one of them!
I reckon it will be clogged with dust and dirt even before the winter begins… but the parking charges are quite easy to enforce all right.
One word: brilliant.
Hope it’ll replace current European parking garages soon.
This type of building has been working for quite some time in Japan, although I don’t think it’s a good idea for Russia, and make it of crystal, wow, that was a bold move.
We have two or three of these in Budapest, Hungary. They are under the ground, so they dont use any space. I use it nearly everyday and it is really great! Not just because I can surely park my car in town, but it protects my car against vandalism or theft, too.
Here is a video which shows one of these automated parking systems in Budapest:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTEdRxneHtI
Nice photos but is there a video to better show it?
I am looking here for a nice american boy? Are they?
I`m here Masha, waiting for your USA visa patiently
You do not like your compatriots ??!?!??! You dislike us, Russian men ???!?! You should be ashamed of yourself !!! Traitor !
Masha is a fagbag.
Come on now fake Jason, you are making me look bad.
This doesn’t look like it will hold many cars. What’s wrong with the classic parking garage where you drive it up yourself? Seems less lawsuit friendly. What are the advantages?
wow…these are already all over the united states.
I wonder if this is the same plexiglass that is in some areas of the cealing in the Russian Ikea Mega Malls.
Beautiful Photos
I wonder if this is the same plexiglass that is in some areas of the cealing in the Russian Ikea Mega Malls!
What if the power goes out,how would you get your car out?
Another thought for this building would be to fill it with water and add fish!
