Cigarettes and Fuel

The jokes about blondes are simply international. I don’t think that the colour of the hair changes something in a person’s behavior, and this one could be also a joke but it’s real.

A blonde in St. Petersburg ran out of fuel, so she decided to fuel the car herself with a jerrican she had in her trunk. She took it out, then grabbed a funnel, so she was thinking she was doing everything right. The only think she forgot is to put out her cigarette.

One can clearly see a lighted cigarette in her hand, the same hand she is going to refuel her car…

She could drop that cigaret into the gas tank and nothing would happen..

The fuems will only react to open fire. Not a glowing cigaret

    2. Chiller says:

I think it actually hard to light gasoline with a cigarette, my assumption is based on the mythbuster’s testing. They spilled gasoline and tried to throw cigarettes to light the gas, but it didn’t light.

I’m sure it’s possible it’s just very hard, even if a cigarette is dropped in the gas tank I don’t think it will light. It will instead be put out by the liquid.

“A cigarette has the potential to light a pool of gasoline but just doesn’t have enough sustained heat. Gas ignites between 500 °F and 540 °F, the cigarette at its hottest was between 450 °F and 500 °F but only when it was actually being smoked. An ignition is very improbable.”

So yes she is very dumb because there is a chance something will happen, there have even been reports like this but it’s very improbable at the same time.

    3. You should try to set fire to gasoline with a cigarete. See how hard it is.

    4. ph0tik says:

It is very hard to start a fire using a cigarette. Normally the gasoline will put it out.

    5. 10$ to the person who can point out the fault

“One can clearly see a lighted cigarette in her hand, the same hand she is going to refuel her car…”

    6. Daniel says:

It’s not dangerous, contrary to what most people think.. you need open fire to light it.

    7. Bert says:

Given Darwinian evolution, it’s a wonder there are blondes left at all.

      @Flippy - movie is great :)))))

      Repostando combustible en Rusia…

    10. Chiller says:

Flippy, I think the video is of static electricity not from a cigarette. The story is unrelated, it has a different car in the video…

I’m not saying lighting gas from a cigarette is impossible it’s just not probable.

    11. Lightnin' says:

Wheather or not a ciggy can ignite gas is a moot point, the photo has been altered. Look at her left hand and count the fingers; the two holding the cigarette have been Photochopped on, perhaps over the thumb. her pinky is tucked under and resting against the container. Or . . . she could be a Chernobyl mutant.

    12. Johnny2Bad says:

Although it is quite true that gasoline is not easily lit by a cigarette, it’s hardly impossible. Nowhere near it, actually.

Gasoline is, believe it or not, classified as a “reluctant combustible”. The key is the air:fuel ratio. Get close to 13.5 to 1, and you most certainly have a perfectly good example of what can go wrong.

The correct ratio is not so easily found with a can of gas, outdoors. Too much air around, basically.

Similarly, liquid gasoline, provided the space above the liquid is too rich or lean, is essentially uncombustable. Way too much gas, essentially no air.

But, try an empty drum of gasoline, with vapors still present. Nolo Problemo, Senior. Similarly, in a closed space, like a garage, or inside the car interior, this is very foolish indeed.

As soon as the ratio of air to gasoline is correct, it will explode quite spectacularly. With plenty of fuel and the potential for the vessel to fail in any combustion or explosion, there is severe danger of a fatal incident.
Similarly, if she were to accidentally drop the fuel container, spilling it’s contents, the Air:Fuel ratio will be correct at some point close to the ground. Again, not such a good outcome.

People are correct, in that IF NOTHING GOES WRONG, it’s probably not going to be a very dramatic day for this woman, and tomorrow comes like any other.
      Then again, shit happens.

    13. Johnny2Bad says:

” … Look at her left hand and count the fingers; the two holding the cigarette have been Photochopped on, perhaps over the thumb. her pinky is tucked under and resting against the container. Or . . . she could be a Chernobyl mutant. …”

Or, she could have a thumb, like I do, on her left hand. Where, Sherlock, is the fifth knuckle that should be there, if such a sloppy “PhotoChopped” job was done? Sometimes real life looks funny in photos. Try again.

    14. Sethasaurus says:

“Given Darwinian evolution, it’s a wonder there are blondes left at all.”
Heh, Bert. Maybe the blondes are smarter than you think.
They tend to breed faster, so can can do more dangerous things.

    15. Alex_AW says:

That’s a kind of Russian roulette.

    16. Jerry says:

Cigarette schmigarette… I LOVE the way she’s grasping the spout on that gas can. Wish she would grasp my “spout” like that. Just don’t stick it in your car, baby. 8-)

    17. olegxander says:

Johnny2Bad has it right. that said, pehaps the fumes comming outta the nozzle might have a decent air to gas ratio and might cause ignition there. im not sure what would happen after, perhaps the flame would go inside the container and blow the whole thing, but her best chance to ingnite is by the nozzle

    18. smokelover says:

To all smokers out there I’d just like to say: Try ecigarettes and get rid of your dirty habit, I did it and I was able to stop smoking.

    19. This girl probably want to die.

    20. GFORCE says:

Good eye, Johnny2bad! That pic was definitely PhotoShopped, and what a horrible job! I guess they’ll have to pick on some other blonde bimbo for doing stupid things….

    21. Yngve says:

Blonde jokes is the only racist joke still allowed. What a monument of white guilt and self hatred!

    22. boxer says:

it’s the same with pics of people lighting dynamite fuse off cigarettes, it cant be done, it has to have the spark thrown out from a struck match..

    23. pictsidhe says:

I tried many years ago to light gasoline with cigarettes and never managed it, it might work in films every time, but in reality it is very difficult if not impossible. It’s photoshopped anyway!
