This is ridiculous - this man is obviously homeless or an alcoholic with low standards of living. The fact that he wears a police uniform is meaningless. I find it offensive that you are trying to imply that this man represents normal way of life in Russian society.

Communist or capitolist, there will be poor people everwhere and anywhere you go in this world. Jesus said that the poor will ALWAYS be with us. There is nothing you can do to completely get rid of poverty.
What a pity to see how a site that contains a lot of visually interesting material is being presented in such a hopelessly ignorant and therefore irritating way. It’s just a matter of time before La Russophobe drops by, stating that all Russians look like this, and we’ve got ourselves yet another of those annoying, senseless pro/anti-Russia discussions.
Alcohol & cigarettes can do this if taken in extreme amounts.
I do not have the impression that this represents most men in Russia. However, I do have the impression that the Russian police would not appreciate him wearing one of their coats and would act accordingly in their own special way when they see him.
What makes you think he’s not a policeman? They don’t really get paid, you know. Maybe he’s just an honest Russian cop who refuses to accept bribes.
It’s easy to pity old homeless men, but in fact they as well have a life story, and often interesting at that. Who knows what background this man have, maybe he actually was a police officer but was sacked for being an alcoholist? Although the jacket looks a bit too big to actually be his.

Russian professionals like doctors and policemen? Since when is a cop a white collar job … even in the good ole’ US of A?
It is pretty sad to see this old guy looking so worn out by life and being quite undignified. Dignity is generally a more important concept to Russians than to Americans (for sure) or even most Europeans.
But then again, at least this didn’t show a Russian version of “Bum Fights”.

Granted, this blog isn’t going to rise to their level of literary attainment, but modern Russia has sunk so low, and the cowardice and silence of most ordinary Russians has become so profound, that compared to that this blog looks like an amazing fountain of courage and social criticism. Vladimir Rakhmankov might not win a Nobel Prize for literature either, but that didn’t stop the Kremlin from arresting him and fining him TWO MONTH’S wages for calling Putin a “phallic symbol.” Like the rest, you are choosing to rationalize Russian failure and distract attention from it rather than seeking to reform it, condemning Russia to endless misery.

According to Merriam Webster (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/profession), “profession” means “a calling requiring specialized knowledge” or “a principal calling, vocation, or employment” and a policeman qualifies under either definition. For sure, a policeman in Russian society today, rife with corruption, is at least as important as any physician. Your pathetic attempt to rationalize failure enables it and hence destroys Russia more effectively than any foreign enemy. With friends like you, Russia needs no enemies.
I’m been several times in Russian and I saw no policeman like this poor man.

It is not even a police uniform its fake, those are quite common some things I find on this site because its obviously meant to be a joke, but somethings are just stupid like this when they don’t even know the truth behind it..
This person obviously is poor/homeless/ or even an acloholic, those uniforms are fake and are quite cheap to buy.
