Russian Brides: Before and After
In some parts of Russia there is a tradition to take your bride to the sauna before wedding. Some think that’s being done on some filthy purpose, but elders explain this in different way:
“When you go with your chosen one to the banya (Russian word for sauna), you can see the real person, without all the cloths and all the cosmetics that can decieve you greatly and affect your choice.”
Seeing those photos of Russian brides before the visit to the stylist and after prove that this tradition might be really wise to follow.

That is one of resons Russian man start drinking heavily - after marriage [early 20's] the wife does not bother with make-up anymore and quickly grows fat. On top of that many Russian girls are powerful and dominant and the men are weak and are decisiveness. So woman is in charge and the ‘macho’ men can not handle this -> so they start drinking drinking drinkin. The act of the weak and spineless: start drinking and doing drugs to escape reality.

As a photographer, I don’t see how these poor-ass quality images show the true aesthetic nature of the subjects. Let’s see how you’d look if someone stuck a point-and-shoot camera almost in your face with a flash on. The flat light from the straight-on flash is horrible. The barrel distortion from the short focal length of the camera makes the front of the face bigger, and ears smaller. The motion blur from hand-holding is obviously not helping either. Find a better background! Ask your subject to stand by the North-facing window. Let the soft light fall on the subject’s 3/4 of the face and chest. Back away from the girls, and use the longer focal length (zoom in) for optical compression. Put the camera on the tripod if you can’t hold it steady for 1/60th of a second. Although it may not necessarily make anyone look better, at least the picture would compliment them. Jeez!

I was right about my theory that all beautiful Russian girls have moved to the West, living only the ugly ones in Russia. And that is why Russian men brink so much.

IMHO: In most cases, the women look just fine without the make-up. In fact, quite a few look BETTER without the make-up! (I’ll be honest, there were a couple who looked like they’d just robbed a bank and gotten into a bar brawl — but by & large, I find most Russian ladies very attractive.)
The main problem seems to be that a lot of the “before” pictures are taken by people who don’t know how to take a good snapshot (Do NOT use wide-angle lens for portraits! Angle flash AWAY from the eyes!). Also, most of the ladies aren’t smiling, and that detracts from one’s natural beauty. Smile, girls! Show us your teeth, the whole personality! Aside from that, my main gripe is that many of them seem to have plucked their eyebrows down to pencil-thin. Come on, girls, leave the eyebrows alone. As long as you don’t look like Groucho Marx, you look great!
The last one in the set actually looks a lot like my dear Ewa (Polish, but that’s right next-door) in her “before” picture. (Of course, I prefer her “before” picture!)

Why are you all so shallow?? No matter how beautiful a person is, that person will inevitably grow old. Everyone suffers the same fate, so why be so harsh especially if it concerns what a person is born with and cannot change? What do you want? A world filled with superficial women who’ve had 101 operations to make them look better for the rest of the world?
Almost no one looks good without make up on. Some of the girls were pretty brides I think. No one is perfect!

The differences aren’t all that much, very realistic. Many are beautiful before all the hair/makeup work anyway.

People who commented this post disgust me. These are just average women, and in my opinion they look just fine. There’s nothing ugly about them, and they are not some models who were picked for they beauty, or had dozens of plastic surgeries done or w.e Has anyone of you seen any of the Hollywood celebrities w/o make up? Many of them look worse then these women. So all of you shallow people should grow up and not expect everyone to look perfect w/o make up. And these Russian women even w/o make up look wayy better then some American women with make up.
