The Wild Russian Pet

Russian pet

In Russia sometimes they dare to have wild animals like pets.

There are no any law regulations on what pets you can keep and what you can’t, no PETA, no need to pick up your little friend’s poo in special bags. You can walk with your pet anywhere on the street or public park, no any single “no pets allowed” signs outside. Some call it chaos others call it freedom, you decide yourself.

Meanwhile some photos of such wild pet living with people in just a small regular flat in big multistored building.

The cat on the pictures is so called Fishing Cat, you can read more on those at Wiki. It’s not very common in Russia, and might have been brought from some distant parts like Tajikistan by Russian soldier.

    2. The Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized cat whose disjunct global range extends from eastern Pakistan through portions of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, throughout Bangladesh and Mainland Southeast Asia to Sumatra and Java.

    3. Kirov says:

Guy does not look too smart. Quite silly. Considering he is approx. 22-24 years of age. Russians age fast and die young. Only women live long. And fishing cat!!!

    4. It is not right… wild cat would bein the wood and not in the home

    5. jonk says:

awww… but he looks so happy with the chicken.

    6. Dawm says:

He’s so cute! I want one!

    7. nw99 says:

lol PETA would have a fuss seeing this. wouldn’t suprise me if they have a van driving around in Russia ready to kidknapp it.

    8. joe says:

“freedom” has nothing to do with owning a wild cat. Sad that some in Russia think this is what it means to be ‘free’.

    9. nice kittez !!

      very alike savannah cat

    10. cam says:

what does it mean to be free then joe? i’m sure your ideals are misinformed (american) and sad too….

    11. Adam wu says:

I thought it’s a cat, then I found out it’s not in next a few photo. It’s fxxking dangerous to raise that in flat, well, but in Africa there’re more wild animals been raised around human. But you don’t know when they’ll bite u to death…

    13. w says:

That cat looks very happy to be out of India and living in a nice apartment :o

    14. w says:

Kitty is stoked to be so far from smelly India and haves nice apartment with loving pet owners

    15. cashhogg says:

That is so cool i want one please mommy please!!!!!lol great post.

    16. Nice kitty. I want one of those too! Will accept it for my birthday :)

    17. iluv2b4n says:

this isn’t cute or funny, its just sad. Those kinds of animals aren’t meant to live in a small apartment or any kind of enclosed space for that matter. i feel sorry for it.

    18. gygy says:

Hope that thing it’s playing with is really a hand grenade

    19. Lutra Lutra says:

This cat is called John Devis he lived in an apartment 3 years

    20. dd says:

      It’s an Ocelot.

    21. Dog Gift says:

I know we shouldn’t condone endangered animals living as pets but he/she looks very happy and the fact he/she’s allowed to hunt live fish (in the bath!) is probably a step ahead of many zoos.

    22. Chantal says:

Awesome, I want one. Russia rules, and PETA are are bunch of whining hippie bastards.

    23. jmuhj says:

Fishing cats DO NOT BELONG in apartments. They need to be protected, absolutely, in their natural habitats. The world needs much better ethic toward ALL cats. Love, respect, protect, and admire them. But do not attempt to domesticate nondomestic species!

    24. Miz Kitteh says:

I wonder, do the neighbors ever complain? Note the alarmed expression on the black and white cat when his wild friend licks him.

    25. Simon says:

      does not look too smart

    26. nysro says:

This cat is probably fine as a pet, but i wouldn’t want to be around when it went into heat.. a normal cat can do some strange shit during those times, no telling what this bad boy might do.

    27. Sameer says:

@w ( comment 14 ), most Cats in india are dead. The rest will go extinct soon. You will dogs here right from the moment You step off the plane. Literally, at least one dog crossing the airstrip.

Welcome to Bangalore, capital city of Doggia.

    28. kainzzo says:

It is beuty cat here. Wonder animal to have excellent in every home.

    29. Anon says:

Noone is really sure how Fishing Cat came to live with the Russian couple. It might be possible to learn more if one could read the ridiculous Russian writing– LOL THEY HAVE A WEBSITE, but that shit gives any normal person a headache. We can imagine perhaps that as Russians, they were on a trip to Thailand. While walking back to their hotel from the “orphanage,” they heard a strange, somehow innocent-sounding animal noise coming from the creek-side bushes. It was a little lost Fishing Kitten.

The Russians quickly perceived that there could be value in this strange-looking cat, and carried him to the hotel. The next morning, they packed him inside a suitcase, and traveled home to their Moscow apartment.

Surviving the trip with only a few small injuries, Fishing Kitten was not very happy with his new life in the apartment. Fortunately, a kindred soul lived there too, a domestic long-hair housecat named Katya. She became like a mother to Fishing Cat, although she increasingly began to believe that he was insane, even for a cat.

It has become more difficult to find pictures online of this captured Fishing Cat in Russia, as the Russians removed the pictures from most of the free sites where they had been posted. They created a tl;dr shitty Russian site explaining all the things they’ll pimp Fishing Cat out to do, along with a few pictures of Fishing Cat, now heavily watermarked to make them less exploitable. However, a few Russian sites still have unwatermarked pictures. If you put “КОТ-РЫБОЛОВ” (which apparently means “Fishing Cat”) into Google, you may find more pictures of Fishing Cat.

Ох ты, это же моя кошка.

    31. Ala says:

Seriously, what are these people thinking??A beautiful wild animal like that doesn’t deserve to live like this.I suppose these idiots feel pretty good about themselves because they let him fish in the bath tub!Any one has any idea what will happen to this poor animal the day he accidentally(and instinctively of course)attacks someone??They will either kill him,or leave him in the wild to die, like other stupid owners who disregard their responsibility to their wild cats as they grow and become scary. It’s ironic how so many people are trying to save endangered spices and then some selfish human treats them this way.Notion of freedom is quite screwed up in Russia!

    32. ZeroDrop says:

It’s only a cat. Bigger. And eat chickens. And fishes.

Wild or domestic, to live confined is the same thing. You have, in truth, to keep then entertained. Any kind of domestic pet. If you don’t, they try to entertain themselves, and in this case, something can happen.

They sure take good care of the animal, and if they put a fish on the tub for him and get a live chicken for him, they sure are trying hard to take good care of him.

Way better to have a domestic cat and treat him bad, with poor care and minimal food.

I think they care better than many zoos around the world. If the animal was discontent, for sure he had attacked the couple and left away. If they live with him for a long time, the cat accept it.

Leave them alone, people. Don’t want to raise a wild animal? So then don’t. Worst things happen around the world, go talk about children starving in Ethiopia, by example.

    33. Viktor says:

The two (animals) seem to like each other quite much.
      So CUUUTE!
Yea, and this means, the fishing cat came there as a kitten.
And this means his/her mother was probably killed to sell the kittens to stupid tourists on some asian market.

Tell me more about freedom of wild animals.

      Idiots

    34. Alan says:

Well at least he is being very well kept by the looks of things. Maybe he would be poached if he were to be let out?

    35. BADMAN says:

      A PUSSY IS A PUSSY

    36. EDGE says:

Stop crying about this beatyful Cat morons!

There are Tons of domestic Cats out there and they all came from the WILD!

If there is a Wild Cat like this about to die, so save it, get it as a pet, breed it!

Forget about this Bullshit like “they lose their Hunt Instincts”. Your domestic cats still hunt small Animals after thousands of years domestic breeding.

    37. abner says:

wow good thing it doesnt plan to eat the domestic cat as well.

    38. Candace says:

      Awwwwww hes cute :)
