Art on the Plant

russian plant

This is the biggest Ural plant “URALMASH”, in order to build it they destroyed thousand of square miles of virgin thousand years old aged forests 60 years ago. It was working thru all the Soviet era and then during the capitalistic phase of modern Russian economy too, but now because of the world’s crisis it has been stopped. Now the rooms of the plant stand still and some artist has completed the nature paintings on the lockers around the plant so that it looks even more creepy now.

What does the mash is Uralmash mean? I’ve noticed some other Russian factories have mash in their name.

    10. ayaman says:

creative…seems it’s a good idea to makeover an old plant where people used to work every day to make a living. I guess they should re-open the plant as an art gallery or whatnot.

    11. ayaman says:

oh yeah and “mash” means machine, like “machines from Urals”

    12. w says:

Looking at the wear around the handles of the lockers one would presume the paintings were done while the factory was still in operation. Beautiful pictures… what is with the good quality posts today I am shocked :o

    13. M says:
