Live Maggots, Spectacular UFO and more

Russian news

Today’s edition of short stories being popular in Russia lately. Some of them too small for a separate post but fits well in one big.

The first photo here is about some grand-dad and a bear, though some say he is gipsie, not Russian, anyway let’s go inside to see what’s more.

Russian news 2

This photos of the construction site were published by some guy flying around the Moscow. Around the usual Russian summer houses you can see someone is building something really huge, with labyrinths and what to be a waterfall-like fountains.

Russian news 2

This became much discussed very fast, trying to guess who would be the owner. Many made their guesses that it should be someone from the government.

Then some time later a handy cartoon appeared describing the differences between Russian and American authorities, as someone can see them.

The translation of it is something like, Russian guy is partying with American, then Russian asks: “Look, John, we are having party here, but who’s paying? John answers: Do you see that bridge Ivan? The drivers has to pay each time they pass thru it, so we can have money to party. Then John comes to Ivan and they are having even more fun there. Then, in turn, John asks Ivan where are the money from. Ivan says: “Do you see the bridge?”, John looks in the window but can’t see any. “No I don’t”, answers he. “That’s where the money are from!”, explains Ivan.

What we have next is a wending machine.

Russian news 3

It looks like a regular, snack selling one, but it has some extra options.

Russian news 4

If too look closer it doesn’t sell food, but what is written “LIVE MAGGOTS” and “LIVE RED WORMS”.

Russian news 4

As it comes out, it’s not a joke - the whole wending machine look shows that it’s leggit, but why? The reason is of course - fishing. The fishermen tend to go to fishing early in the morning, like 4 AM or even earlier, and they need fresh, live worms (the mostly wide used fishing bait in Russia). So in Soviet times usually someone made business by selling those at night at the places where fishermen gathered, like bus stops etc. Now this job is automated.

Next one we having here is about some strange court order.

Russian news 4

The owners of this flat couldn’t share so one side went to court. And the judge made an order dividing the flat literary, together with all the furniture and people living inside. So the less fortunate side has got the part of the appartment without doors and toilet. So the court order had to be executed.

The wall is finished. Justice is restored.

Russian news

But the guy from no-doors-and-toilet-side wants another justice.

Now, if you remember yesterday there was a story on the tornado near Moscow.

Russian news 4

Someone has got a shot of it at night, together with the lightning. Looks scary.

And probably you remember this shot from yesterday’s series:

Russian news

Some Russian guy was not left untouched by it and has made that kind of animation. He said: “Voices in my head asked me to do this”, when was asked “Why?”.

And now, speaking on the voices, some people say those voices are induced by UFOs. Usually UFO sightning caught on video are not to vivid, lacks quality and motion etc.

But not at this time. This surveillance cam has got something looking very cool. First minute or so of the video is dull and even is not promising that something nice would appear, but it worth of wait.

Now another move in space and time, back to 1980s and Mongolia.

Russian news 4

Sure Mongolia is not Russia, but in that times it was called as “Sixteen Republic of Soviet Union”, they had Cyrillic alphabet and numerous Soviet army units were placed there, building the cities around their stay.

So speaking on one of such cities, there was one cool story about it. Here what guy tells: “When I was young our family was living in Mongolia. My dad was serving Russian armed forces and was sometimes taking me with himself. What I’ve remembered most was what we called ‘Mongolian Calendar’. Every morning a selected group of soldiers were sent to nearby hill to realign the stack of planks laying on the ground and painted in white so that they show the current date. The size of this was big enough so that people from the town could see it on the hill”.

What is caught on Google sat maps tends to be the remains of this, and it seems the tradition was live untill 1997. The link is here.

And now it’s time for some music to conclude the today’s review.

In Europe they have Eurovision contest. Countries send their participants to sing bla bla bla etc. This year it was held in Moscow and the Russian guy from Belarus living in Norway now has won it. OK. But they also have same stuff for children, where underage singers compete. Please meet the young guy from Belarus. He is singing about the rabbit, but how is doing it differs him from the rest dolly songs they had there.

And that’s it for today.

Well maybe one more thing. The beach seasons are opened in Southern Russia and thousands of people are already there, including some not very clear what they are up too, like this one toilet man:

Russian news 4

People who witnessed him tell that he harrased the passers by, but can’t tell what he wanted from them

Russian news 4

Maybe it’s UFO again…

Russian news 4

Anyways, that’s it now.

Hope to see you again soon!

    14. Henrik says:

Why would it say 2007 if it stopped in 1997? Also the satellite images on Google maps aren’t updated that often, so the tradition is probably still alive.

Here is more about that tornado image, which of course isn’t from Russia at all:
