What is the Russian term for “redneck”?

Well, yes. USA is the home of rednecks, and I am one. I didn’t make it clear that I was not looking for a word that would be an insult. Sorry. Being a redneck isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Being unsophisticated isn’t always bad. Unless you’re a gypsy of course.
I just wondered what the word was and how it translates.

no, быдло and гопник have a strongly negative connotation
быдло means cattle, and гопник is a citizen of a dangerous behaviour
there’s a word derevenschina (деревенщина), but it also has a negative meaning
i think that krestiyanin (крестьянин) more or less suits here, at least it’s neutral
but on the other hand, it doesn’t have any expressiveness
another word i can guess is provincial (провинциал)
I don’t fancy going camping in any of those things. Most of them look rather old and shit.
I could, however, be tempted to drive one of those big trucks around for a while.

the problem with doing this in America is that you get a bunch of hippies and government morons telling you that you gotta protect the environment, or can’t go here and can’t go there.
No problem in Russia.. Go anywhere you want and no one will care.
I have a similar setup and use it all over America.
Often I bivouac outside of town, and use my scooter to run for supplies. Also, scooter fits inside plane. Its handy!
