first yah!
OMG Russia truly is a sad, poverty stricken, starving and depressing country isnt it? I feel sorry for those poor Russians
Mr India - you are the pits.
Do NOT succumb to western propaganda concerning Russia or the former Soviet States. I am a red blooded American but I have been there three times. Although there is poverty there are also great strides of progress over their previous positions both financially and politically.
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. They are a proud nation and deserve to be observed cautiously and fairly.
I feel sorry for selling ourselves to the West! not for long though )))
None of that looks like any fun at all.
Lol, the guy sniffing glue in 2 of the pictures is loving his new found freedom.
russia is a dump
That dead guy looks happier than those living
photos 26, 27 - is this a mental hospital?
Powerful images.
Hmm randomly putting a photo from of morgue doesn’t show the intentions of the poster..
IMHO I think it does, I think the poster is showing the ruin and wreckage of society in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Perhaps symbolically, we are looking at the ‘corpse’ of the old society and, like the coroner, trying to do an autopsy of the ruin.
look at the babushka with a huge golden Rolex, i want one of those.
The author is a retard. 1989-2000 were the worst, most shameful years Russia has suffered since WW2.
Soviet empire? Freedome? Bah. Also, poverty, insecurity and complete destruction of economy.
You pretty much summed it up.
There was a great feeling of unity back then, we are releasing ourselves from communism!!!! Nowaday this is disappearing fast because of Russian nationalism, russkiy vs rossiiskiy. We ‘freed’ those ossetians from georgians but when they came to moscow to work hard we bashed their heads in, bloody imigrants.
On side note, nobody can help me with those cauliflower like things coming from my ass? its is painful i.p. when i have watery bowel movements (like all time) and i have trouble sitting on it.
Stop impersonating me, fake Kirov. You speak only BS. But one thing made me laugh, Rosskiyi vs Rossiiskiyi. Keep up trolling if you manage to pull such things once again.
not even the glue-sniffing? man, I bet you are no fun to hang out with!
That looks extremely depressing….
Wonder how much has changed since then.
smells like “freedom”
This is why a lot of russians today are very weary of democracy, because that is where it brought them. There is even a joke where they call it shitocracy. Calling this period a beggining of “freedom” is one of the stupidest and most ignorant thing ive ever heard. It was a collapse of a country, a society. My parents grew up in the 70s, and when you ask them what they thought of communism growing up, they say that they thought communism was freedom and happiness and that they couldnt have imagined being happier. This period shown here was not freedom, it was one of the darkest periods in a great country
good job, you said that WW2 years were shameful for Russia. please die, mongol alcoholic.
Stop trolling me, dog. Face it you lost the debates with me, and keep on losing. You are witless, aren’t you?
And yes, what Stalin did was shameful. Our victory, however, is to be considered as one of the greatest vicotires in history of humanity.
Why are you impersonating me ? Stop it and stop the bullshit you talk !!! Stalin was good leader, evrything he did was for the good of country just like putin does now!!! Less russians but BETTER russians !
I am Kirov,the man,the myth,the legend!
Soon I will rule Russia with a iron fist!
Kick like a hell. The shot taken at mortuary underlines the power of this set.
look up “peace”
Sex magazines for sale in Russian Federation, and other things I have seen there!
Could this have been possible in Soviet Union?
Ha. You may get a photoset of atrocities in any country, especially in such a period of it. Easilly impressed people would cry, yeah.
But those ppl, it’s what they got for beleiving communist BS! And nothing more. It were not ninetys when SU economics gone to butt, it all was defined earlier.
And all those crying about “scary ninetys” and nostalgic of commie-nism which they haven’t even seen would get all the same. Was there too, my childhood time.. And it was not so bad compared to 200x years, at least not so boring. Btw all those lines and horrible sale-points are closer to end of 80’s and very first half 90’s, that’s the true legacy of Soviet Union, yep. 94+ were not so bad actually, even in far province where i live.
By the way in that times there even were some more free media than now, well TV and papers. And the intellectual level of many magazines and other media products was quite higher than nowdays (especially IT and other specialized sector). You may be horrified by glue-sniffing punks, but they probably are not any more retarded than most of todays RF youth
By>, keep on living in your world. Maybe your father was one of those who got dirty rich? FUCK OFF, I grew up in this time, it was the most horrible moment of my life. Soviet Union had FAAR greater standards of living then Russia. Worst thing is, Gorbachev, and the far worse Yeltsin were complete, and total idiots in economy (and Yeltsin in MAANY other things. What a dog).
And no, I follow no propaganda. But USSR was still far better place to live then 90’s (ALL OF THEM, not only early 90’s). I wish it never broke up.
why so rude? Fof yourself
> keep on living in your world. Maybe your father was one of those who got dirty rich?
If i had that rich relatives i probably won’t be any interested in this topic ).. Why would rich ($$$ = authority) care about portraying that time of half-fault attempt switch to democracy as something oomg-scary-horrible (thus making grounds for more authoritarian regime like needed to save scared people from all those..)?..
It’s you and alikes “living in your world”, failing to distinguish your personal horrible moment from that time in general.
The USSR was built upon fairytale ideologies for narrow minded thugs, having no market and because of that being retarded in crucial technologies.. It was going to be fail by design.
The 90s were probably the times Russia was most free country in all it’s time.
And that’s idiotic to blame Yeltsin. The SU was going to collapse anyways. Yeltsin just was there to take his part in this process. Maybe he’s not brightest person (especially when becoming boozed) but seems like there was no one better there. His only real big fault was later when he seemingly was completely !@$#@& by his environment and gave up into making Putin next president…
>Soviet Union had FAAR greater standards of living
>wish it never broke up.
The USSR was not like China and soviet people not chinese, so if it never broke up we’d have now the standards of living like those of North Korea and Cuba, etc. And there would be no Internet. Thats enough to say bye-bye USSR for any person with IQ > 80.
1. I don’t care how “free” Russia was back then. It was a place of horror for 90% of ordinary people. Take for example criminality, it was unsafe to even walk in the streets.
2. Yeltsin fucked it all up. He was power hungry revolutionary, nothing more.
3. Soviet Union may have been based on a strange ideology, but it could reform, carefully. If only there was a leader better then Gorbachev.. Anyway, Soviet education, health services, welfare and living standards were simply superiour.
4. Normal fear monger: “If Soviet Union didn’t break up, we would have the living standards of North korea.”
Actually, no we would have far greater living standards, and wouldn’t experience 90’s. As I said, we would live more or less like China did, as a gradual reform market economy would do. And I don’t know why you think Soviet Union was destined to collapse or something. Yeltsin and the coup attempt was what collapsed Soviet Union.
5. So simply stop painting CCCP black because you are both ignorant and lucky.
PS. Cuba have the best living standards in Carrabian, and back in before Soviet Union broke up, simply astonishingly high.
The myth of Cuba as the best place to live in the Carribean is nothing but that: a myth.
It is not Gorbachev’s fault that the USSR economy went down the drain, that process started long before him. The country went bankrupt, simply because they couldn’t earn enough foreign money because the oil prices were historically low. And without foreing money, the USSR couldn’t buy enough food (which it couldn’t produce by itself), and without food…
It is not so much that Gorbachev’s reforms didn’t succeed, it is rather that even Gorbachev’s reforms couldn’t stop the disintegration of teh Soviet economy.
I hope the Russian people will take freedom seriously, which they sufferred so much to get.
It was fun while it lasted. Poor but free.
