I found a trunkful of similar magazines from late 50s to mid 60s while cleaning in my wife´s granny weekend house! They are super-cool, the relics of the times when it seemed the technologies were omnipotent!
Great post.
That’s fascinating, I agree!
However last week were having a party with your dead granny in the basement, and, let me tell you: there were also very many super-cool relics (traditional mongol/russian wood-carved dildos, etcetera)
Also, she did call me ‘omnipotent’ many times during that fun night… Little old mongoloid firecracker your granny - tell her Bigfoot says hi =)
Imbecile.
hmmm… Bigfoots not taking his anti-whack meds!
That’s some sick nasty shit right there!
Great Stuff! Back in Kharkov we had a store not so far from my house called “Unii Tehnik” or “Youth technician” where they sold these.
wrong. i remember at least 14 popular science magazines at least.
but i agree, TM - one of best and my favourite in childhood.

Boat lift on Cover #2 is covered at http://englishrussia.com/?p=1676
So was the jet train… eh, somewhere. Don’t feel like looking it up.
The art work is very nice, almost un-soviet. But is it only me, or is the cover on the left, making it read from right to left.
Yeah, it is the Great Zionist Conspiracy.
I guess, whoever scanned them, placed the covers in the logical order, front cover first.
On a related note, is it just me, or did somebody else read the journal motto (especially in pic. 3) as “Время икать и удивляться”, “Time to hiccup and wonder”, instead of “Time to seek and wonder”? Horrible horrible horrible font choice…
Webmaster, this is a fascinating article. If possible, more examples of science magazines would be appreciated. The illustrations are great!
Nice, a “Melkus RSS 1000″ (orange car on the 18. image)
That is some great collection !
I like young girl with webbed feet and inviting fun mouth in foto 17
She is like I will hold your tadpoles in my mouth and hatch frogmen
