When high education ends you have either go to army(’cause your would be like 22 years old) or pay bribes to doctors or military registration and enlistment office through friends.
No, we don’t choose a branch, but when you’re in school for last two years, your teacher and your mother have to fill a questionnaire about you, then in military office you will be tested on mental stability. Those actions should help the military office to choose a branch for you. But often there is a lack of soldiers in some branch, so they send there if you’re not very sick… Medical comissions in your local military office suck. If you wouldn’t bring a lot of papers which say you’re sick or can’t go to army, you will be sent to your regional capital - head town of your region for another comission - a lot of guys return from there with “unfit for service during peacetime” diagnosis, and if there is a war, they’ll go.

Actually and honestly more then what I had at the time. I applied and was turned down at first. My GPA was 3.2 You need a 3.7 or better to make a difference and get the best shot at making the academy. You need good math skills - mine skills ranked the highest you could get always A’s to A+’s! I was born with a mathimatical mind and numbers came easy! You need a good knowledge of science with good grades. My best friend was the son of the science teacher and so when I went to his house the father made everything about science - even making a God Damn sandwich!! It helps to be athletic - never saw a fat fighter pilot have you? I won the Presidential Physical fitness award every year. Being fit was easy for me - I was a farm kid growing up eating off the land and working night and day raising crops and cattle.
My weakenss - spelling,history and so my GPA fell mainly because of these two items. If I had known while in High School this would hurt my chances to become a pilot - I would have studied harder!
Also, by the time I was 18 I was a piolt already flying a crop duster and a small home built I made with my brother. Flying for me came natural and I had talent.
So, I joined the USNA and then cross-commission over to the USAFA to become a pilot.
There is a certain arrogance you can detect about being a USAF pilot and for me it was the pure joy of flying something so powerful,fast and dangerous and getting paid for it.
PS - I really enjoyed the Russian village of my wife’s grandmother outside of Sartaov. It seems everyone came to see the “American Pilot” when grandmother told everyone who I was - I told her and so did my wife not to tell anyone!!!. Next a police man came and wanted to see my “papers”. It seems all was not in order and so he asked me to come with him to the station. As luck has it - my father-in-law (who loves me thank God!)came and told the police to let me go. My father-in-law is in the security services in Russia and his words carry a lot of weight! It seems the Russian (underpaid asshole police) wanted to beat some money out of me and take their anger out on a American. I know this as my father-in-law told me what they wanted to do.
Lets both agree - ok? There are good Russians and Good Americans and its in everyones best interest to get along since we have so many nukes pointed at one another.
