OMG Russia is such a backward and poor country where moose still roam the city street because they have nowhere else to go. I’m deeply saddenned by the welfare and precarious plight pf these wildlife in poor Russia. Where is WWF when you need them?
OMG Russia is so pure, the environment is so clean! Meanwhile, in the wasteland of poor trash polluted 3rd world America, such an animal would die of smog inhalation or acid rain! No wonder America is the world’s biggest polluter, such a bunch of 3rd world savages, this is what happens when you bring together all of the world’s rejects in one place, such a sad, miserable country, I feel sorry for poor fugly Americans who were born there!
OMG I want to be humped by a moooooooooooose.
I personally believe this is a Moose.
OMG There is a HUUUUUGE difference between a moose and an elk. If you know what I mean…
This is a moose, not an elk
Is Bullwinkle, where is squirrel?
Squirrel is in blender
this is a moose, not an elk..
this is a moose, not an elk..
Has anyone mentioned that it’s a moose, and not an elk?
Moose or elk ?
Niiiice.
I thinks this is a moose, not an elk…
Something tells me this is a moose, not an elk…
What’s the difference between an elk and a moose?
About 6 rubles per pound.
What? I don’t get it.
Is this some kind of linguistic war?
Sorry.
Make that “about 79 cents per pound”
or “about 2 rubles per kilo”.
Consistency is the hobgoblin of smaller minds.
What?
What does currency and weight have to do with this bug beign either a moose or an elk?
The moose is found in the Russian city, the elk is not.
A moose has thick antlers that grow out strait.A elk has antlers that arch back behind its head. This moose would be a female because it has no antlers.
And not that thick im guessing?? Ok, then it’s a moose, but how can you know 4 sure if its a female moose??? maybe somebody chopped off the poor mooses antlers…
(of course, in no intention to keep this debate any longer)
WELL…..I guess that could be a possability.Someone could have shot it with a sleep dart and taken its antlers.I am guessing it is a female because female deer (does) don’t have antlers.I am not a moose expert,I just know they are big and have thick antlers:)
It looks like they’ve been removed, if you look carefully, for example, in the last picture is not his eyes what you see, but the remaining of the antlers… which brings us back to the initial debate: if you can’t tell if it’s a moose or an elk by the antlers (cause we know by now its not a girl), then who can say what it is then?
Well, not that it matters, but i just have plenty of spare time to waste over this stupid topic.
I think guns are against the law in russia. That is probably why it is still alive.I will not live in that country if I could not hunt!
Crossing red light also not allowed in Russia. But popular.
Male Moose (called Bulls) shed their antlers each winter to lighten their load. They no longer need them as mating season has by now ended hence there is no need to fight the other bulls for the rights to a female (also called cows).
Incorrect - antlers are not year round, but are shed and regrown.
This is a male moose. You can clearly see where his antlers have fallen off.
Will this go on throughout the entire page about it being a moose and not a elk!
Perhaps
By the way,I am very sure it is definatly a mose and not a elk.But I could be wrong.
Could be Chernobyl deer. Mutant.
Or immigrant in warm coat. very warm coat. would explain lack of antlers.
Well lets all quit guessing what it is and shoot the damn thing.Steaks and jerkey for everyone.
Это лось: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Лось
не вапити: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Вапити
It has an extra eye or he survived a headshot.
Oh crap I just realized his horns were removed! How cruel!
The male moose (bulls) shed their antlers each winter to lighten the load.
By early winter, mating season has ended and the antlers are no longer needed to defend their territory from other bull moose.
By summer, it is common to find the shed antlers on the forest floor from the previous winter.
Its a moose for sure…. Those Fuckers steal it from Canada I bet!!! Give back the moose you thiefs!!!!
In the “great North”..when a car hits a deer - the deer losses!
In Canada when the car hits the moose - the car looses!!
In Russia when the car hits the moose - sorry!! Russian driver can’t even keep his car on the road so how could he hit the moose??? Long live the moose!!!!!
What’s the chance some dumb ass Russian will give it Vodka to drink instead of water??? About 100%!!!!!
Wow…now that would be a site to see….a drunk moose….
Oh, I forget we they have one already……its Putin at the Abba party he held with his private friends.
Putin had the Kremlin declare officially that he WAS NOT attending an ABBA party, did not dance there and in particular that he did not like the Super Trooper song. Also the blond woman in excellent gown was not with Putin, who was not at the ABBA party, hence they were both not there. Were they were instead, was left unanswered.

BTW - consumer electronics are WAY MORE expensive in Russia than abroad.
Well my brother in law Sasha would give it vodka!
There is an excellent article on Wikipedia on Moose(es). It seems that when the Europeans came to America, they forgot what their animals looked like. What was a Deer in Europe (Red Deer) was called an Elk in America. What the Europeans called Elk, for some reason they started calling them moose.
The moose in these pictures may just have lost his antlers for the winter. They they shed and regrow them every year!
BTW, this is a moose, not an elk.
Ever heard of “british english” and “american english”…?
I apologize to everyone who I’ve offended in the past. I can’t stop drinking, gentlemen. What the hell do I do??? I set a date after date after date when I think I will quit drinking, but I still fail, I don’t know what the fuck to do. Reality is unbearable for me. I wish there were an off/on switch.
there is. is found on .38 Smith & Wesson i.e.
pretty funny =) I suppose I should check
This is a young male moose who has shed his antlers for the season. They fall off naturally after the rut is over.
I’m Canadian. We have MOOSE.
This is a BULL “male” MOOSE.
Alces-alces(latin for moose) is referred to as ELK in all of Europe.
Abit confusing because we call a variation of the rein-deer family ELK, here.
Moose are the largest of the deer family. And yes, they shed their horns, or antlers, yearly.
Toly’ko etyt pravda.
This is about Russia and former Soviet republics, so stop bringing Canada into the picture.
On a side note: Are consumer electronics in Canada also more expensive than abroad ? They are in Russia.
It is a very sick moose you can tell how it has lost its antlers and rests much in snow
Stop saying this is a moose. It’s not. This is russian elk. Deal with it.
“The animal bearing the scientific name Alces alces is known in Europe as elk and in North America as moose. The name elk is connected with several earlier European variants—Latin: ‘alces’, Old Norse: elgr, Scandinavian: elg, and German: Elch—all of which refer to this animal.
Confusingly, the word elk in North America refers to the second largest deer species, Cervus canadensis, also known as the wapiti. Early European explorers in North America, who were familiar with the closely related but smaller red deer of Central and Western Europe, believed that the much larger North American animal looked more like the European elk (i.e. moose), so they named it elk.
The word moose is derived from the Algonquian Eastern Abnaki name moz, which loosely translates to “twig eater”

Be careful. It is old school, and has no undo function.
@Russian_NYC
It’s an elk in Europe, moose in USA.
This is a moose, not an elk..
This is not an elk, it’s a moose.
You are all wrong. This is a moose, not an elk…
Hey Rocky watch me pull a moose out of my hat!
Again?
Nothin’ up my sleeve…. Presto!
Guess I need a new hat!
In Alaska you can get on a road kill list. If someone hits a moose on the road the troopers call you and you get to go get a free moose!
I thought only reindeer live in russia
This is the Ronald Mc`Donald ..
