OMG revisiting Soviet era transportation is going back to some 50 years ago. So much poverty, outdated technology and backward means of transportation. Why oh why everything had to be substandard and inferior in poor old Soviet Union? I feel sorry for all the people who lived through that time
hey moron, these pics are from like 50 years ago if not more, and i feel sorry for anyone who has to interact with u and ur stupidity in real life and not just over the interenet
OMG the Russian streets are so clean and orderly, the people are lean and healthy, drug use is non-existant, and the aircraft and spacecraft was far more advanced than the rest the world!
Meanwhile in poor trash backwards America, the city streets are filthy, filled with niggers and drug addicts, 70% of the people are fat, disgusting pigs that are overweight, and their backwards education system is the laughing stock of the world! Such a sad, miserable country, I feel so sorry for poor fugly Americans!
OMG I soooo want to be humped by a camel!
There are no camels in my country, only my big and wet camel toe. And nobody wants to hump my camel toe
yawn….
Fuck u Chavez! I’m Venezuelan myself
i like the offroad volga
+1
As a small boy I often ride the Metro and VI Lenin would conduct metro cars himself. He would stare at me with wee beady eye and pointy beard. I dont know how he drove train while looking only at me, but here he is in foto #79.
Nice collection fotos!
We saw most of these in previous posts. Such as the 4×4 Moskvich, the “hedgehog” machine gun system and the picture of the wartime deer. The rest is all photoshopped. I can see pixels.
//Kidding.
Picture #10 is of an American car; a 1973 or 1974 Ford Torino. My first car was one of these, but mine was a station wagon version (estate wagon in europe). That’s one big ugly stupid gas guzzling car - I’m very surprised to see one in Russia.
The hood (bonnet) alone was over 6ft (2 meters) long and the car weighed over 2 1/2 tons. I think my Torino got about 12 MPG (which is about 5 KPL). The problem is that at the time it was considered an “intermediate” sized car. There were much bigger and much thirstier American cars being built at the time.
Another funny thing: the name “Torino” was supposed to invoke a sense of Italian elegance about the car. Could you imagine Italians wanting to drive that load?
In any case, I had fun in my load, I only paid $175 for it. The picture brought back memories!
Picture 11 shows Fiat 1800.
Is that Gagarin on picture #39?
BTW, what’s that sports car? I like it!
Yup, he is.
And that car — some prototype probably.
Sports car in #45 is a Matra D-Jet circa approx. 1964
It is. More expensive in Russia than abroad, BTW.
Just like most consumer electronics. Did you know a MacBook air costs 3 average monthly wages ?
Thanks for the info!
Mercedes S-Class … very Soviet indeed.
Take a look on the license plate :
6429 DZ 67 <<== it’s a French number, so it’s probably a tourist…
Tantalising as usual - great pics with no info! A lot of them are not self descriptive at all
Questions knowledgeable Russian folk..
1) Those jets (about pic 34 what are they?
2) What is the Sports car with the guy in uniform?
3) THe one with the large canal - is that the big one that links Moscow with somewhere that Stalin built?
Cheers
scot
I dont understand why police used BMW as per last pic… they were hella expensive back in the day.
Go to the post from a few days ago - http://englishrussia.com/?p=2273
Detailed account of how militia acquires BMWs.
Even though they cannot really be labeled as ‘consumer electronics’, they are still quite expensive in Russia. More expensive than abroad, I might add.

Although not really ‘consumer electronics’ they are still quite expensive in Russia. More expensive than abroad, even.
So what you a say is the police chase BMW and “aquire” it then mark it as their own and drive around in nice car? wow that is easy
Indeed. Why make things hard if it can be done easy ?
Thank car in Picture 13 would have looked even better than the Gaz 13 they made. To bad the government didn’t approve.
Foto #26 is famous Soviet “Krazy Komrade” He believe he may achieve orbit on special motor-bike. If that not bad enough, he convince sexy lady that she could orbit also. Notice sexy lady riding outside of spacecraft!
Inventor of the wingsuit?
