Demolition

While there is an economic recession in the rest of the country or even in the rest of the world in Moscow they demolish whole residential blocks to build new more expensive living houses.

Good photos and a retarded description well done
OMG Russia is such a rich country, no wonder Moscow is the most expensive city in the world, in a few years Russia is predicted to overtake Germany to become the largest European economy. Meanwhile in poor 3rd world backwards America their huge $12 trillion debt is getting larger and larger!
Some countries are poor but have a rich culture and long history. Others countries have no culture but are rich. America has the rare distinction of being a country that is both poor, has no history, and no culture! No wonder Americans are the laughing stock of the world, so sad!
Ha haaaa, yor comments are very funny, because of your comments i watching this site, keep going bro,and by the way America sucks and i hope that end is comming for fat pigs in America…
You would be living in a primitive past today if it was not for the capatalist USA!
soon China will become a superpower, they will have everything
Yeah, right, you forgot to add that Lenin will rise from the death
OMG that is considered a luxury apartment in Moscow? I’ve seen buildings like that in Zimbabwe too. Russia truly is the Africa of Europe. I feel sorry for poor decent hardworking russians
LOL you retard it clearly says that these are the OLD apartment blocks that they are demolishing to make way for the luxury apartments. This building nearly completed in Moscow is going to be entirely residential apartments http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Two_Capitals_Tower.jpg
The so called luxury in Russia is like 2 star hotel in NY
?
oh so they are decent hardworking? thanks for appreciating, I agree, you’ve spotted the best thing there, thanks for appreciating
12,1 % of Russian population is living of less than 2 $ p/day.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_percentage_of_population_living_in_poverty
no luxury appts on photos.
but yes, in comparsion to typical american buildings - most new moscow homes - just luxury as house on photos, compared to Zimbabve or Burcina Faso housing.
no offense, but american builders - just thieves and charlatan builders EVER !![in comparsion to their Worldwide collegues].
im typically shave hands when discover, thats guy near me - american builder. twice at least.
I think you are comparing low-income American housing to luxury apartments in Russia. No argument here. Now, when it comes to places where actual working people live, that’s a different story. Example - myself. College professor, firmly low-middle middle class. Brick house on a 1 acre lot, 3 bedrooms 2 baths, bordering woods. Peace and quiet, clean air, deers come by. Thirty minutes by car to work. Now, I don’t know what were the prices in Moscow, but I probably paid for it a lot less than a worthless (yes, real estate in Russia is worthless, without property rights to land) studio in Moscow.
WOULD YOU ALL SHUT UP AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THINGS THAT CAN NOT BE CHANGED OR IS MADE UP.YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC!
Actually, because of the crisis one can now buy undeveloped land in the Moscow area with 70% discount. No one is constructing anything, the cranes all came to a halt.
Interesting background on Russia and the crisis, in English :
http://www.moscowtimes.ru/article/1016/42/373401.htm
At the same time Medvedev is proposing legislation that will make it legal for the Kremlin to remove elected [democratically chosen] mayors and the likes from their posts if they do not behave according to the Kremlin’s ideas. Another step in creating a huge network of incompetent and powerless ass-kissers, and overruling the peoples demands.
A return to Soviet-style politics.
Wasn’t it the case for a long time? I mean, they abolished Governor elections at least a couple of years ago.
Oh, you are talking about city mayors here. No shit…
WOULD YOU ALL SHUT UP AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THINGS THAT CAN NOT BE CHANGED OR IS MADE UP.YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC!!
Heh, just look at furniture inside these apartments.
2Joseph: i save it for you, pal[i know you like that stuff].
check e-bay.
Bring large tear to mine eye! Ruin beutiful Soviet Era flats to make place for evil western-style capatlist apartment! What come next? Taco Bell? Chuck-e-cheese?
2cynical bastard: you think WRONG:
1. low-income American building already look like Zimbabve “buildings”[except exterior, maybe
2. then you must "work" harder than, proffesor, because in Russia that kind of "luxury" available to almost anyone who worked. and study construction theory a bit and feel difference between US "builder" appoach and others, really capable in anything, other than sucking money for [literally]NOTHING.
3. thirty minutes in car ? you kidding. 10 minutes walk 2 job - typical. unable to whitstand city rhytm ? then you cannot be “hardworker” by definition.
4. there you right. Moscow [and RU overall-more or less]lands most expensive in World EVER :[ even Japan, WA and Swiss, Monaco and etc - beaten.
Thanks, Barbarian, I haven’t laughed so hard in a while.
1. Agreed. Those punks don’t deserve any better.
2. OK, show me a hardworking college professor who lives in his own 3-bedroom MODERN cottage in Russia. Wooden huts don’t count. Can’t? Case closed.
3. In the boonies, perhaps. Life there is actually tolerable. In Moscow, try two hours by train, together with smelly hobos and fags with AIDS. Then again, you won’t make enough for a cottage there.
4. No, you can not buy land in Russia. Period. End of the story. Thus, all that expensive “real estate” is really worthless: if the gummint decides to build something there, it’ll take it from you, and will make you pay for demolition, too.

4 what reson - this city cenzor - skipped my answer to cynicall bastard ?
what a shame.
Im so fucking tired of all the nonsense comments around here…
The thing is, as a result of a socialist regime, all decisions where made centralized, therefore, concentrating almost all the governmental power in Moscow. As the perestroika came to effect, all those state industries and companies had to became privatized. As a result of that, “comrades” (which, of course, lived in Moscow) became owners of huge-massive companies from one day to another, becaming also millonaries as well. This situation became regular, therefore, turning Moscow into the one city in the world, with most millionaries.
As a result of all the bullshit i just told ya, Moscow became a huge-massive city full if filthy rich mother fuckers, concentrating all Russia’s money in it.
As a result of that, nowadays Moscow is Europe’s largest and wealthiest city. Therefore the residential boom and the pictures that we see in this post, but, on the other hand, forgotten rural Russia is sinking in poverty.
Wealthy metropolis and starving countryside is a hallmark of any 3rd world country.
Actually, no. In 3rd world countries with big metropolises and “starving countryside”, most of the population lives in rural country, and they are mostly farmers. In Russia, hardly any Russians work in agriculture and 73% of the Russian population lives in cities, and in all Russian cities the standard of living/GDP per capita is about the national average. It is only in the small villages in Russia that are gradually disappearing, that are falling behind.

good old volvo
Many Moscovites are in poverty, earning modest wages and living in functional Soviet style flats. It’s a shame when developers buy up these flats, only to evict them and profit from the affluent citizens. I think it is the responsibility of the rich to help the poor in that region.
Maybe there is something I do not know. Is there help for those that are evicted from flats slated for redevelopment?
They are made into fertilizer.
let alone Moscow, and talk about Russia.
why ?
because Moscow not perfect example - on that prices on land and house … not only Mid-Class cannot afford at all.
so Moscow not heaven for midle class, even if thats even existed in Russia[systematically wiped by variuse activity of Rulers].
Chilean_dude:
and only you comments[and opinions]make sense, you mean, my dear truly democrat ?
i dont think so.
i even dont think so, you can even think hard enough, to understand, how wrong is you and you way.
crying aloud about “you” opinion[which is NOT you], “just because” you think its good idea, and other - not so - not good. even 4 you, IMO.
What do you mean by “[wich is NOT you]” ?
Those numbers are from 1998. You do realize that like “only” 13% of Russians live below the poverty line (most of them unfortunately pensionists, who don’t earn anything a day, but get money from the state based on their previous work)?
Get your facts straight, MaxD. You look like an idiot again and again.
WOULD YOU ALL SHUT UP AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THINGS THAT CAN NOT BE CHANGED OR IS MADE UP.YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC!!!!!!
Chilean_dude: read it literally and think about.
at least have OWN thinking, my dear puppet.
position, you imply as own, 300 years old, at least.
think about thinking own mind, my friend.
because it is not too late, i hope.
i hope for america - can be good stop taking racist comment about outside.
it is can be good not jury US in Nurnberg, after german or [did you read news from far east ?]jew military crimes.
WMD ? pff… screw you, you against all World, yankee, its not help you - not in that case, my darling.
No, screw you.
And im not a Yankee, I live in Chile you stupid fuck!!
Everything i say is what i think, and just trying to comment OVER FACTS. I’m nobody’s puppet. Why would you say that anyway??
And BTW, i think you should learn to write some decent english before trying to comment over some person’s opinion and make a fool out of yourself, cause nobody can understand the salad of words you just typed.
Silly Russians… Explosives are faster!
They sold them to East guys
I forgot in which post people were stating that Russian consumer electronics [i.e. computers] were cheaper than abroad, so I’ll just reply here. I was actually AMAZED at the huge price difference - a lot biiger difference than before !!!
I stated that imported brand name stuff is most expensive in Russia, and locally compiled PCs are cheaper. Locally compiled standard PC excl. monitor in Russia is around 26000 rubles [555 euro's]. Which is also not really cheap BTW..
imported brand name computer : Apple iMac, 24″screen 3.06GHz
in Russia : 129000 rubles [=2755 euro's]
in USA : 2200 USD [=1702 euro's]
in UK : £1,359.00 [=1555 euro's]
in Holland : 1919 euro’s
The difference between the cheapest [UK] and the most expensive [Russia] is 1200 euro’s.
NB - I tried posting this for several attempts, but somehow it won’t let me, so I took out the links - maybe now it works. Check data yourself: the apple websites and for russia mccentre.ru
WOULD YOU ALL SHUT UP AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THINGS THAT CAN NOT BE CHANGED OR IS MADE UP.YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC!!!!!
OK MaxD, let’s have some fun.
1. Are you an idiot or something? A “standard” Packard Bell monitor, like mine, costed me around 4000 Roubles when I bought it a while ago. Nothing fancy, but new. So either the price rose 7-8 times, or you once again LIED.
2. There is no “huge price difference” in general. I’l prove you wrong now.
3. I took a RANDOM Apple PC, new Macbook air. It costs 1532 EURO in Russia, 1440 EURO in the US, 1446 EURO in Britain, 1700 EURO in Holland, 1834 EURO in Norway, and probably even more in Finland. So where are these mystical “demonic and evil import taxes” you speak about?
4. I know the big Imac costs allot of cash here, but it is an exception. There are exceptions everywhere. I’ve seen big, fat PC’s cost far less then Imac, but still be far better. In RUSSIA.
So go and learn some facts.
This looks like a good place to shit.
WOULD YOU ALL SHUT UP AND QUIT ARGUING ABOUT THINGS THAT CAN NOT BE CHANGED OR IS MADE UP.YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC.
I want to drive the demolish machine into Kremlin!!!
Go play Red Alert II then.
Maybe the new apartments will have bigger rooms.I could stretch my arms out and almost touch both walls in the kitchen of my wifes former apartment in Ekaterinburg.
[...] demolition Take a look at these pictures: English Russia Demolition do you think any asbestos samples vere taken? __________________ If you can build it, then I [...]
Jason, u visited Ekb?! nice)))
I cannot recognize any valanters of english-speaking person, i met, who got enough courage to stay in a hotel outside Sadovoe ring))
what about topic - This houses ara called Hrushevka.
they are too old. and were made in Hrushev’s ruling time.
poor Russian studen or Kaukazian gastarbaiter wiil be very happy to rent this flat for about 500 $ per month.
U know, Moscow is not Russia. unfortunately.
and also fact about prices in Russia -
iPhone official sales in US - 299 $
iPhone official sales in Rus - 799 $
Bigmak - 2$
Cell phone call - 0.1 $
Everage salary in Moscow - 1000$
Other areas - 400$
Good luck.
And in the winter the price for everything goes up in Екатеринбург.I don’t know if it does in Москва.
I quote :
The sourced data refers to the most recent year available during the period 1990-2005. - The first table.
The second table is referring to 2007/2008. Read. And do not respond when you’re drunk. And in case you’re sober - even worse. Please do not respond at all, then. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
This was a response to my compatriot Kirov/Miss India/x/w and who knows what other monikers he is using…
Wow, MaxD! Even more BS. The talble you was reffering to is from 1998. You see it stands “information from 1990-2005″? I know this, because I’ve seen that stuff before. Stop the spammage please.
PS. I respond to your posts WHENEVER I want.
Maybe it is a good idea to actually go to the Wikipedia-link and read it there yourself.
Why don’t they call the Air Force? They can do the job quickly and efficiently and get some practice on their bombers
i mean Moscow luxury itself->at that prices 4 land
even relatively suscessful people cannot afford anything here.
Russia - most expensive country to live[in World] and contry with worst salary en Europe.
btw about consumer electronics - until recent rouble downfall its truely comepetive[at least to EU]prices here.
look at Dec’2007 prices, for example.
Brbrbrbr, you are an idiot or something? Food in Russia is incredibly cheap compared to Europe, and not everyone lives in Moscow (where 1/4 of the population live below poverty line, compared to the 1/8 average who live below poverty line in Russia)
If you want, of course, you can always find cheaper things too. I did not even make an attempt to find something specifically more expensive. I already pointed out the NOKIA 5800 Express music.
Cheaper in Russia, where it was launched first. And a loaf of bread is only 25 - 40 rubles. A bottle of simple French wine is around 20 euro’s in Moscow, but only 4 in i.e. Holland.
But my point is that in general consumer electronics are MORE expensive in Russia than anywhere else. Also take into account the purchasing power of the average Russian - average wages went down to 500 dollars p/month in December [17,112 r p/month, 206,400 rubles p/year]. So to buy that ‘cheap’ MacBook one needs to work 3 months and should not eat or do anything else.
In Holland i.e. the average income is 30000 Euro’s [1,397,050.78 rubles] p/year. The MacBook is yours after 3 weeks of work. So the Russian MacBook is over 3 times more expensive in comparison. And do not forget the 35% inflation of the ruble over the past few months. So stuff got ‘cheaper’ when converting to dollars. But still more expensive.
Another good comparison is IKEA - found everywhere in the world. In Russia WAY MORE expensive, and the quality is worse for some reason.
And of course, you can say anything you want. But you do not look very smart when you do that.
1. Umm, once again, proof of your little wine comparison?
2. 25 roubles (a normal price) for a bread IS cheap. Compared to the rest of the world, at least. Now stop whining.
3. I DIDN’T TRY TO FIND ANYTHING CHEAPER THEN USUAL! I simply picked a random PC and compared it’s price to other ones.
4. NO, YOU HAVE NOT (!) proven that consumer electronics are more expensive in Russia then in other countries. Actually, they are CHEAPER.
5. Stop whining about average wages. They fall not only in Russia, but in the rest of the world as well.
6. IKEA is both more expensive and has worse quality in Russia then in other nations? Are you stupid or something? Have you ever compared the quality of products of your IKEA market to other IKEA markets? And they are pricies? Bwahahaha! I don’t know if we are talking about the mythical “Moscow prices” where everything is 4x more expensive then in the rest of the country, but I’ve been in Poland. I actually ATE a dinner at an Ikea market. I glimpsed on some of their prices, and I would say they vary from cheaper - more expensive then ours, here in Southern Russia.
How was the food in the Polish IKEA ?
I forgot - 3 monthly salaries for a laptop is more expensive than 3 weeks of salary. Right ? Things should be seen in perspective, not absolute figures only.
And no, in general average wages are not going down outside of Russia.
This is not allowed due to binding labor agreements. In Russia the common worker has no power [unions in Russia (the former workers paradise, how pathetic) are discouraged and factually impossible]; and his salary can be lowered if his boss thinks that’s the best way to fight the crisis [his own salary will not be lowered, of course].
And yes, I have compared the IKEA quality. Otherwise I wouldn’t make that statement. Go to an IKEA website [germany, UK, Russia, whatever you want ]and check yourself. And unfortunately the quality IS worse..
And yes, sorry for calling Brbrbr an idiot, I just react this way too often, now a days.
we have noticed. do not do that again or americans will bring democracy to А́страхань to neutralise u
Haha, Joseph pointed out what I was going to. The apartments are still full of furniture! Did the demolition crew even notify the residents before they started bulldozing? *Imagines a Russian man sitting at home watching TV, he suddenly starts screaming as a crane busts through the wall*
I can see a new McDonalds or Starbucks in its place…..
Besides, watching buildings getting destroyed by big machines is just plane cool!!!!
Hell, I would do it for free and have a contest.
Take one big machine with pick and start at one end of building and another at the other end and see who gets more destroyed faster and closer to center first.
The winner gets the best vodka!!!
Now that would be fun to watch - Russian men working hard and for a purpose.
Sorry Sergey!!!! He is my father-in law and Russian man who actually works and supports his family. He is man of highest quality!!! I love you Russian Dad!!!! Wow…I may have to change my views….I found one good Russian man I like.
I have even better idea!!!!!
I know…this shocks even me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets have beautiful Russian girls in big machines destroy those apartments…….Wow!!! Now thats a orgasm of highest quality!!!!
The Russian Ladies in high heels and short dresses climbing into those excavators drives me crazy…….
Sorry…..got to go………
Previet Viperman,I would do a toast to your idea but my glass is empty. What city is your wife from?
My wife is from Saratov Russia and she is there visiting her family now.
Funny but I agree with MaxD.
My wife calls me and asks to send her money for the walking computer - the “racetrack” she calls it - its a pedometer here I think its called. It meaures the distance walked and calories you burn. She thinks she needs to loose weight - what Russian girl doesn’t!!!!
Ok, we all want to know…. I am 43 and she is 30!
I ask her how much and she say - 300! I said ok!
Then she finds the better one and its 600! What am I to do say? No? Never good to piss off a Russian woman for all those of you who are not married to one. But, to marry one - OMG!!! Pure delight and awesome love making!!! American girls could learn a thing or two from a Russian woman!!
So, I continue my story…..
I tell my wife do you think its wise to spend such money on your “racetrack”? Your parents together make just over 600 a month and they work their asses off!! I am affraid my wife has become Americanized! My wife says to me - Dear : you love me”? We all know what that means!! Yes I love you!! How much do you need princess??? I send her 1000 today and if I am lucky it last to the weekend! She will have to go shopping with her sister Dasha and buy new cloths and so on. Cloths shopping in Russia is expensive and not just in Moscow - Saratov too!
Continue my story again…..
I’m leaving in a few weeks for Ukraine and will meet the whole Russian family there for Holiday and small trip to Yalta and Odessa.
My wife Tatiana is from Ekaterinburg. So I fly to Moscow and ride on a shuttle bus to a smaller airport and fly on Aeroflot for 2 more hours to the Koltsovo airport in Ekaterinburg. It would be nice if she lived in Moscow.I have not seen Moscow yet.By now I am used to my wife throwing her arms up in the air.It doe’s not take much to piss off a russian woman.Usually she gets mad when I dont take my shoes off in the house.
With the Russian outside environment it is ESSENTIAL that you take off your shoes when entering the house. We do NOT want the environment IN the house !!
Also, NEVER sit down on the bed in your daily outfit - first cover the spot you’re going to sit with something. Who knows where your ass has been sitting - public transport ? Do not bring bacteria into the house !!
My wife’s name is Tatyana also!
Question….why in the hell is Dasha the same as Daria?
Why is Tatyana spelled so many ways?
Why do Russian women put a spell on us - yes dear, no dear what can I buy you dear - no that outfit looks good on you when you put your boobs back in that top for no one else to see!
My Tatyana will not let me sleep with cloths on(like pjs - it might dirty the bed!! What the hell??? Lets see - we have sex in the bed and it gets all wet and thats ok? But can’t wear cloths to bed?? I must be missing something here?? Makes no sense to argue with her - she knows the house rules the best!
Long live the Russian Queens of our homes!!!!
You should not let yourself be pussy whiped so much. The spell wears off soon and the sex becomes less! And her american name is Tanya.
I agree with Jason.
Be firm and do not let her drain your wallet and sanity. I’m sure she is a nice girl but she’s got control now and that is not good IMO. You’re guided by your dick now. There should be a balance.
And indeed, after about 2 years everything starts getting back to normal, no more see-through dresses and no more porn-sex. Russian women are really making an effort to please their man, but once they have what they want [marriage, a baby, a closet full of stuff, your credit card] they take it easy.
Act like a real man [the way they visualize a real man, at least... general female opinion about men in Russia is that they are a bunch of weak spineless shitbags, just for your information] , put your foot down every now and then, they will respect you more because of that and it will definitely pay off. But be prepared for some of the biggest arguments you ever experienced. Russians are very dramatic, their life is like a theater-show at times. Don’t take it too serious.
You very much hit the nail on the head.I try to balance the authority in the house. Not always easy!
Keep us posted Viperman !!
I tell you funny true story of my wife as I know everyone wants to here…ok?
I take my wife to Antalya Turkey for holiday. Now, for those of you who don’t know - its a moderate muslim country - Turkish girls where nice dresses and look casual for the most part. As we pass through the hallway in the airport to catch another plane - a plane arrives from Iran - a not so moderate country! The people from Iran get off and the men walk in front of the all black covered from head to toe ladies they own!(ok, there married I guess). As we pass these men in the hall they look like they want to start jihad on us. Why? Its Tatyana’s fault and I tell you why!
Tatyana decides to wear a speedo white see thru dress( like what the tennis stars wear) with her boobs barely making it in and half her ass showing! In other words - she was a walking porn show!
So, I tell her later -dear can you please not cause the terminal to shut down next time and have muslim men yell crazy shit at us for what you wear - please! Best yet - they called security on us and security asked her to cover up a little because she was causing a scene.
We are a strange couple - I am conservative and she is free spirited but very devoted and faithful wife!!!
Best yet - Tatyana flies home to Russia to vote when they elected a new president. Yes, the whole family voted for Putin!
What can I say….life is a adventure!!!!!!
Hey viperman, you still with us?What is it like in Saratov? Is there grafitti everywhere and is there a subway? Is there a ford dealership or a Ikea Mega Mall? There are some pretty ladies in commercials on tv!After most commercials the russian flag is displayed.I am guessing it is because it is state run tv.I learned that russian women change their name when they corespond with forein men.I have not figured out why.ie Lena would be Elena and Tatiana would be Tanya and so on.And if their last name has a letter a at the end,i’m sure you know what that means.
The food was OK. Not luxury, but cheap, and good. At least better then McDonalds.
Anyway..
Ok, so now you bring in the argument that Russians are poorer then Europeans? Oh Christ..
General wages ARE going down. People are also getting SACKED. In big numbers. All over the world. Duh!
And Russian labour unions are non-existent you say? Then I guess the dozens of millions of Russian workers members of them, are not actually not existent? And I guess you don’t even know that the trade labour party is getting more and more confident in their deals? You talk rubbish as usual.
PS. WTF? Why would IKEA network sites say their quality is worse then in other places?
Ok, the final blow.
I did not say workers unions do not exist. They do, most powerful in St. Petersburg region.
But if you want to start a union or organise workers to join your union, you will be bullied, beaten up, not get a job anymore, or get killed. All this happened in St. Pete, i.e.
Employers do not want unions, it conflicts with their interests [money and 'absolute' power]. So using their money and power [corruption kicks in now] they make sure being member of a union is not a desire of the working class. As a result, wages are going down, people do have to work in bad conditions, making long hours and not being paid for that, etc etc. And if they complain, they will be kicked out. Also against the law, but if you have money YOU are the law. Remember CORRUPTION ? This is one of the nasty effects. Workers in Russia are in general badly organised, if at all, and most of the time afraid to stand up. The government and the employers do NOT want powerful unions and are obstructing them as much as they can.
Examples are all over the place [but not shown on state television and covered in [state-controlled] printed media. Moscow times, Novaja Gazeta, Vedomosti are papers that DO cover these subjects, and look what happens - journalists are killed, abused, dissappear… Welcome to Russia, where money rules stronger than ever.
NB-Of course IKEA does not state they have bad quality stuff on their website - I was referring to the prices, which are higher for many products in Russia. But in Russia the quality is worse [probably because many products are produced locally].
I can give you links to prove all those things above, but do some research yourself. I’m not a reference library.
MaxD, wow I’ve never seen so much trash. I’m honest, your claims are trash. No money DOES NOT RULE, and no workers ARE protected, and ARE organized in Unions. Majority of workers are already in some union or another.
But here you go, keep on talking trash, saying they are afraid (even though workers have launched serious strikes all over Russia for not so long ago), get beaten up (more bullshit. If anyone was beaten up by a gang they are beaten up by the employer), employers careless exploit their workers, and treat them badly (more trash) etc.
Where are sources? Point them out?
PS. You have NO PROOF IKEA Products are worse in Russia And/or have higher prices then in other countries. Is this so hard to understand?
I have proof, you do not. That’s your problem.
Here are some examples. My mother-in-law works at an upholstery factory. She’s 70 years old. She’s forced to work with this nasty glass-fiber insulation material that destroys your lungs, but not allowed to wear protection. She works sometimes 10 hours p/day. Her pay was cut to 60% of what it was over the past year. Because the company wanted to be competitive without endangering their margin, they cut the wages. Those that protested were kicked out.
RosTelekom in Moscow decided to cut the annual Christmas party for the employees because of the crisis. Instead, they rented out a bar and organized a dinner-party. Attention was compulsory, people had to pay the outrageous sum of 150 euro’s to attend and not attending would have ‘consequences’ [as was stated in the memo sent to all employees]. The staff, mostly worthless assholes who had their position because of their network, not because of their qualities] basically gave themselves a free party at the expense of their employees. My sister-in-law works there. And many more stories like this. If you are not familiar with this type of stories you are living on another planet for sure. It is everywhere.
As for the unions, yes there are unions and they DO act at times. But they have no money reserves, [so strikes will cause them to starve pretty soon], so no real power. And all their actions will backfire at them, eventually. And the abuse, obstruction, etc. I mentioned are all true. Do some research yourself, you can find reports all over the net [not in the state-controlled printed media, of course. Try globalrus.com i.e.]
If you want a job and you mention that you are a union member, you will not be hired, to prevent potential problems in the future. I.e. That is the Russian mentality. Me first, you can die.
Etc etc..
