Russia is the second country in the world for the amount of billionaires =))) that would be impossible if the country was poor. as for the poor people of Russia, there are various reasons why they are not poor. and the main one is that the political system does not favour to the small business. communism has nothing to do with the poverty. and if your only value is money, than you’ll be poor forever - you’ll never have money enough to satisfy you.

As for the poor people of Soviet Union, well at least their condition was stable. No financial crisis, no unemployment, no homeless people, free education, inexpensive book, theater, museums. And the values? What can be better then ideal socialistic values? Yes, communism does not work, planned economy does not work, we all know that - but was not it a hell of a good try?
One day the specter of communism will come back to haunt us, but only when people will be ready for it. For now we have to stick to the old model of “democratic” imperialistic capitalism.
I’ve noticed that people who deride capitalism are usually people who have no initiative or, if they DID try something risky, they failed.
Having failed, rather than get up and try again and maintain optimism and a winning attitude, they choose instead to blame “others” for their failure to succeed, and then choose a system of government which coddles the failures and the ones who never tried.
Eventually, under that system, the winners get tired of being milked by the losers, and take their resources elsewhere, leaving the losers in the unenviable position of becoming “double losers.”
If you study the movement of capital (money) throughout history, you will see that it is much like water, and follows the path of least resistance. For example, many union workers in the USA have screamed and demanded for years that they get higher salaries for less work, the right to refuse any work that is not in their “job description,” corporate-funded healthcare benefits for themselves and their families, guaranteed long paid vacations, the “right” to sue corporations for every imaginable “offense,” such as hiring people who are competent instead of hiring people who are of the required gender or color.
On top of that, politicians in Congress, looking for a way to fund all their welfare and “pork” programs, vote to impose the second-highest corporate tax rate in the world.
After all these attacks on capitalists, they then cry and moan and pretend not to understand why so many US corporations, and so much US capital, leaves the US for other countries.
It’s a timeless principle, whether its Arab traders or Dutch merchants 1000 or 500 years ago, or modern corporations. Sadly, not enough people learn from history.

i think an interesting thing we should look at is the graphic style of the communist propaganda, wherever communism spread, the graphic style of their propaganda kept unchanged, for example here, in Chile, during the late 60s and along the 70s (until 1973) the left propaganda was exactly the same as that of russia, israel, korea, cuba, etc.
i think its really valuable, the use of illustration and xilography they did and of course, the “heroic socialism” in this posters featuring workers as heroes, being the workers themselves the main character of the propaganda, but not the actual leaders.
