      is it the englishukraine.com?

      • Alex_AW says:

They cannot see the difference. They’re mixing up even Russians and Kirghizians.

      • Eris says:

Again, for visually-impaired and brainly-retarded but stubborn ones asking over and over this stupid question:

In upper-right corner of every page of this site you will see a button named «About». Just press it and read carefully — there’s The Answer for ya. It says:

English Russia is a daily entertaiment blog devoted to the events happening in Russian speaking countries, such as Russia (Russian Federation), Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, etc. Everyday something interesting happens in the countries occupying 1/6 of the populated world. We are here to inform you about it.

        Am I clear?

    5. Shycookie says:

where do you see a kirghizian?

    6. Johnny says:

Nice cards, they look really typical. Must have been drawn by a real good artist.
The King of Hearts has kind of a hammer, the Ace of Clubs girly shows a sickle - this makes hammer & sickle! So the KGB secretly had some influence on the card designing?

      • Oleg says:

The “Ace of Clubs” is actually a Queen (Dama). That would explain why it a card with a female drawn on it.

      • Lena says:

For Pete’s sake! As if the Bolsheviks pulled the hammer & sickle out of thin air….. (or, for that matter, the Nazis the swastika). I think the artist is Vladyslav Yerko.

    7. Lev says:

Wait… are these people supposed to be Ukrainian? Because most of them don’t look it.

      • Domo says:

Yes, they are Ukrainians. Not the typical Ukrainians, but the classical ones!

      • Funktomas says:

This cards are made by the ukranian artist Vladislav Erko based on popular “Taras Bulba”

The conbination of tradicional caracters and modern techniques in this work is masterly!

I love russian art and I love this site for things like this.

    8. Eris says:

      @ Alex_AW:
Agreed. As for mixing up Russians and Kirghiz, IMO, it’s like about mixing up Germans and Chinese — one needs to be blind, deaf and dumb at the same time.

      • Sam says:

Reminds me of the joke about the man hired as a translator. “I know every language in the world except Greek.” “Perfect.” says the new boss. Then when he is asked to translate something, he can’t. His boss says “What did he say?” “I don’t know, it’s Greek to me.”

    9. CZenda says:

Your conspiracy theory is futile here.
The King of Hearts holds a mace. It is not a hammer.
Picture 6 shows a figure with a knife typical for Balkan countries.
      Analyze that ;-)

The artwork is stunning. Never thought of Ukraine as part of those fun-loving, forever-feuding clans in Appalachia-on-the-Adriatic, (somebody’s ‘Balkans’ comment) but I’m not here to initiate any urination-competition.

I would buy such a deck of cards. And I don’t play with cards very much. I have attention-span issues that seem to surface there and in no other activity. But those are art in a portable form. Nicely-done!

    24. Freeroll says:

Must made it via poker cards in online poker rooms :)
