So sad to see another beautiful place in ruins!! That is the end for all things of human origin, however.

There is a place that will never be in ruins- and there are those in Russia and in probably every country who are a part of that kingdom already.

        But Andrew Ryan rejected communism!

I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
        different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
        Rapture.

    3. CZenda says:

The building itself is an interesting mix of rather progressive structure and Stalinist stucco-kitch.
If it was in Europe, I would guess the structure was built in mid-to-late 30s. This style is sometimes referred to as “funk-deco” (functionalistic Art-Deco) where I live.
Shame the building is probably doomed.

    4. Pipo says:

indeed, the building is of that short-time allowed modern design.

    16. Uncle B says:

As the (GRD) great republican depression spreads its black shadow over American suburbia, and the multi-national food group’s feedlots and factory farms choke on payrolls bloated by Union demands and corruption, and default on payrolls due to the very sick banking industry, many people regret having sprayed lawns with herbicides, and now wish they could grow increasingly expensive and hard to fine food there. Add to this the Oil shortages promised by OPEC to drive oil prices up, the collapse of many industries and consequential job losses, high levels of personal debt, and you realize how “system-dependent” Americans are, and how vulnerable life is to system breakdown! Americans live way beyond self-sufficiency, out on the glossy colored pages of magazines, in a never never land of constant cash flow and high paying jobs. One small break in the system, or even a slowdown, or the coming reality, the end of cheap oil, spells disaster and the taking away of their very life support! Americans today live in a precarious position of spend or die economics, and the rest of the world simply does not have the resources any longer to support this maniacal way of life. Change is in store, but a much greater change than Obama ever imagined. McMansions are not survival shelters designed to maintain life through the GRD, Single light bulb Shanties with outhouses and veggie patches on the edge of town are better, and probably will start to spring up as business and commerce go down, due to the money fiasco. Farming rights for the McMansion yards may be at a premium in some areas, and in the cities the rights to farm backyards are already being bartered! the GRD is a bigger storm than we thought, and it looks like even the government can’t shake it.Too bad it is too late to punish the new York, Wall street shysters and shylocks and crooked Lawyers that precipitated it.They should be assembled into camps and left to starve, like the rest of us! America is following the U.S.S.R. as fast as it can, the people are running blindly forward into the same abyss!
