    1. chicken says:

WOW I just LOVE these animal sleeve sweater/jumpers !!!!! I really would love to have one of these..

    2. Rodrigo says:

Whats with the animal sleeves? o_O

    3. dv says:

aw, looks so lame. i still remember these - my mother used to have subscription.

    4. I must admit, that is absolutely hideous.
      ….is that Borat?

    5. castle_ahh says:

the last picture looks like chain mail armor.

    6. wackyruss says:

I love the lady’s arm! It’s morphing into a zebra!

    7. I want to grow my hair like the guy in last photo. It’s very nice and big.

    8. wackyruss says:

I’m looking at the picture of the man with the stylin’ sun glasses and the Borat-style moustache…

The caption says (transliterated from Cyrillic)Muzhskaya Rubashka. What does that mean?!?! I can only transliterate since I know the Latin cognates of all Cyrillic letters.

    9. Sexy women in the photos remind me of my favorite songs by band “Hot Chocolate”–a song called “Miracles.” Everyone–in honor of Soviet fashion women, sing along!

      I believe in miracles
      Where you from
      You sexy thing
      I believe in miracles
      Since you came along
      You sexy thing

      :)

    10. Not even I dress that bad!

    11. KanuTaH says:

      Any chicks here?

    12. maxD says:

      Yep, 1989.

Time was frozen in the USSR, as these pictures prove again. These outfits were fashionable in the West in provincial areas during 60’s and 70’s. More or less.. :(

Awful. One of the worst times ever in fashion. Never to be repeated again, I hope.

    13. Sasha says:

Looks like 80’s fashion sucked no matter what country you were in.

    14. Ben says:

those are pics from nitting mag not fashion mags, we had mags like that here during the same time
      Ben

    15. maxD says:

A knitting mag will also reflect contemporary fashion, of course.

    16. Someone says:

Isn’t the woman in the 1st picture Julianne Moore, when she was younger ?

    17. Dick Turpin says:

Can someone please tell the Russians that fashion is what people in the West usually consider bad taste after only 6 months, not six decades! damn. They are still wearing this nowadays.

    18. Richard S. says:

Are Aran sweaters popular in Russia?

    19. title of the post is wrong.

this is not about fashiion, its about knitting instructions.

    20. Russ, Ian says:

Funny thing. Russians in 89 were more stylish than Americans in 2008. Funny Ignorant Americans got no sense in style and taste.

    21. Hey US guys you are so funny… you neva gona have culture like russian one.. go to russia first

    22. D says:

Ahhh, 1989…… A year most of us would like to forget.

    23. mad1982 says:

ehehehe what a look \ but nice

    24. What is the culture of Russians? Drinking vodka, sleeping in subway, getting drunk in public and pass out everywhere, beating up Russians from caucusus and Asia, making child porn, prostituting in europe and america, threatening tiny neighbours is that it?

If thats Russian culture I am not surprised Russia is still a 3rd world poor trash country.

      • Yes, Russian culture is very different from American culture. In the US, we give our money to lying preachers, drive our SUV two blocks to buy cheap crap beer, wave the flag like a moron, give up our freedoms to Republican scoundrels, cry like babies because someone showed a nipple or used the “f” word, sink into mind-boggling debt to support a delusional aspiration to live like people on TV, remain in stubborn ignorance about science, history and geography and bleat about how we’re #1 over and over and over.

So you see, Russia and America are very different.

    25. Richard S. says:

Are you wondering what to give your Russian princess this Valentine’s Day? I would like to suggest Aran sweaters. They are very warm and are reasonably priced. My sweetheart just loves them. Yes, they do deliver to Russia. To avoid custom hassles, just order one sweater. Here is there website…

    26. Richard S. says:

Speaking of styles, check this out…

      http://www.aransweatermarket.com/catalog/index.php

If you have a sweetheart in Russia she would like an Aran sweater. The sweaters are reasonably priced, accepts all credit cards and is hassle free from Russian customs if you order one sweater.

      Valentine’s Day is coming…

    27. Suzy says:

I once had an giraffe sweater, it was eating leaves. I think I had one with a cat (or just paw prints) as well. Must have been around ‘89 (I was very young). Not as ugly as these ones though, they had a better use of colours.

      I’m from western Europe…

    28. Suzy says:

leafs, not leaves… I need an edit function. Please?

    29. Akhenathon says:

As always in Russia: Girls are cute, guys are assholes.

    30. Лёш says:

Please note - Poor translation - this is not about fashion. This is knitting…”do-it-yourself” magazin with guidance showing what you can do in your spair time.

    31. Links says:

      Did someone just say
“Stupid fashion then and now. Russians just do not know how to dress period.”??? It better have not been an american, cause maybe if you stop wearing pijamas and sweat pants/shirts to school and everywhere else, you could say something about knowing how to dress. Oh and all the russian brides are popular cause they dont know how to dress/present themselves.

    35. Serg says:

Guys I’am a russian!)) I have to say that most pics in here are not correspond the essense that payed. For example this collection is devoted how to do such thinks by yourself! And belive me if you will have the chance to know how is made you’ll really shoked )) Sry for mistakes….

    36. lude nunes says:

It seems that Soviet fashion had better sense than Western in the same period. The 80’s just weren’t able to have the worst fashoin ever because the 70’s actuall happened (no, it was not a nightmare)

    37. hi, im bob says:

i fukkin hate this site now, so much bullshit. its not fashinon, its a knitting book. thats why you see instructions on some of the photos.
