Russian North Truckers

I’ve heard that tomorrow in some parts of Russia temperature would go below -67 F (-55 C), so those would be even more freezing times than usually in this time of the year. But people in Northern parts of Russia need food and other things for comfort living, so shippers should get this to them everyday no matter what’s going on with the weather.
How do Russian truckers cope with this? You can see some moments of their winter life from this photoset submitted by Volgovod via English Russia forum.

First?
Congratulaions your lifes work is now complete. If you die tommorrow it will not be in vain.
Thanks for the compliment, Demi. I love you too =D
first!
Loser
Jesus those guys that drive those trucks have huge (albiet cold) balls.
Pardon the pun but that’s just about the coolest thing I’ve seen. As don juan says; those guys must have the biggest balls.
Rough work, and tough trucks. Magnificent vistas. Thanks again Volgovod.
This would make a cool show, “Ice Truckers - Siberia”
Which parts of Russia were these pics taken? Seems like a nice place to visit during the summer.
Wasn’t this posted up before?
Damn. and you thought Ice Truckers was cool. i hope the (however temporary) oil boom can breathe some life into the infrastructure. most other countries rely on trucks to keep their economy and way of life, Russia is obviously the same (but with more challenging circumstances than most).
Imagine being hundreds of miles from help and your truck topples over. Blya. These guys deserve a high six-figure income.
No, they deserve a road… for a change.
I agree. Even then, it would still be “very dangerous” as opposed to “deadly”. They’d still need to put up with no help for 100’s of kms not to mention if it’s winter - if they get stuck.
it’s almost not possible to keep roads in good condition there because of really-really great distances, really law temperatures and huuge amount of snow falling all the time.
But still they could be better.
Wages of fear russian style
kamaz and ural rule!
would like to see american trucks (failing) in that environment.
For some reason it was posted as a new comment. Oh-wow, who the hell cares…
No contest: they don’t NEED those gas guzzlers with abysmal load carrying capacity in everyday service. Imagine that, even in Alaska, roads are decent enough for a standard 40 ton 18-wheeler rig. Then again, if you have special requirements (like Alaska oil field services, for example), M35 Deuce-and-a-half 6×6, M939 6×6 and M985 8×8 neatly cover all payload needs from 2.5 to 10 tons.
Anything to avoid building roads, I guess…

You said it man!
The roads up here in northen Alberta can be just as bad at certain times of the year. One difference though they would have our balls if we drove around in streams like they do.
It is just as cold and yes they pay you well.
Maaaaan, drove that junkyard Detroit crap, a pretty dangerous work. Russian all terrain trucks are better - more reliable, rough, powerful and… safe. Try them. Who needs roads? This is way more exciting!

omg they are so poor, they can’t afford real cars
These trucks can go to mars and back.
its no way to build road on some grounds.
so, only trucks-tracks, ships and maybe airships - is options.
and i agree, driving somewhere, distant ~800km[or more] from closest people - requires alot from driver.
it needs Mi-26 to lift from mud
[...] about it. But on a icy road a 6 wheeler will skid around more than a 4 wheeler, so it adds up. English Russia » Russian North Truckers I guess the Russian Ice Road truckers dispagree with you. [...]
I could never drive a truck in areas like that
Looks Beyond Challenging!
