Probably many of us still remember this Soviet post stamp dated back at 1945 - at the end of WW2. There were a lot of talks of its real meaning and now somebody has found its three dimensional realization in Soviet Army museum:
Some people say it depicts “the spirit of brotherhood that was among soldiers in WW2″, well at least it seems that sixty years ago it seemed nothing bad for Russian people to see kissing men, no gay accusations no homophobia talks etc. The world has changed for the past years greatly then.

Is this a symbol of the real reason so many Russian women emigrate to the west?
It is said that Western men do not find their own women attractive and so they seek girls to marry from other places, primarily eastern Europe. Have you seen British women lately? Having to listen to that annoying accent can get pretty tedious, and they don’t even look decent even to compensate. And American women, my god. It’s already bad enough that you go to sleep with a 25 year old and wake up next to a 50 year old with plastic surgery scars all over her body, but these ugly bitches then have the nerve to divorce you 5 years later and get 50% of what is yours. Honestly I don’t blame western men. I even think it shows good judgment and good taste to seek elsewhere.

Girls from the Baltic States are especially nice. If they weren’t so brainwashed by all the nationalist propaganda, then I would defintally consider one for a permanent relationship.
I am currently dating a nice Polish girl, who by her own admission, escaped from her corrupt, crime-ridden country for a better life here in the UK to work as waitress. She is a new generation, of just 18 yers of age, so she hasn’t yet had a chance to get sucked in into the whole the racist xenophobic campaign that her native country tries so hard prefect. And I sincerely hope she never will. She is lovely girl with a kind heart. We recently made a New Year’s Resolution - that is of me learning basic Polish by the end of 2009 (with her help of course) and her, speaking almost fluent English (with my help). She is gorgeous

Talking beaver’s statement is very representative of his country’s (Estonia) intolerance to the opinions that do not coincide with those of his government’s Nazi propaganda. The goverments of Baltic States can abuse and repress minorities without any opposition whatsoever because opponents are ether threatened or all together permantally silenced. I would also like to take this opportunity and inform the newcomers of what sort of person Talking Beaver really is.
Talking Beaver is an extremist Estonian nationalist, the same kind we saw giving a nazi salute to the SS monument and throwing red paint over the statue of the Bronze Solder. This person frequently changes his screen name in order to project his hateful massage after people gain an understanding for what he or she really is about.
His first screen name was “hsk”. After making numerous racist and anti-Semitic statements (which included the denial of Holocaust) he was forced to change his name to “Ornoxus” because public opinion on this site has turned against him. Being Ornoxus that person carried on spreading his hateful message which mainlly included attacks on estonian minorities. His last massage as Ornoxus was this: “Estonia for Estonians - Russians and Jews out”. Of course, most normal people were outraged with such a stament of hate, but again, Ornoxus was gone never to be seen again.
And then Talking Beaver and his new made up friend “Hunnu” comes along, and guess what? - the content of their statements still remain pretty much the same. However this time he is more devious and on some occasions this person actually makes some informative comments to slightly divert attention from his main objective.
However even now, if we were to analise the content of his statments, they still very much lead to him humiliating minorities, russian culture, russin people, the Jews and defending the atrocities committed by Estonian government.
My advice is not to engage in any verbal exchange with this person, because in doing so, you will encourage more racist and xenophobic propaganda from him.

It remind me of whatt happned to me in Riga back in 1970s.
I used to travel to Riga much often, both for work and for pleasure. One evening when I went to the park to have a walk, in front of me I saw a group of about five young men. As they come closer I noticed I was surrouned.I tried to pass through, but they didn’t let me. At that moment I was very scared. I thought they were going to rob me or even something worse. So I told them that I will start to scream if they do not let me pass. When I say this, they all started to laugh. I didn’t know what to do. I can not scream I can not run. I was terrified. After a minute they started pushing me and trough my hat into the mud. As I was trying to pick it up they pushed me in the mud. Ones I was in the mud one of then grabbed my hair and hit my head on the pavement. At that moment I was to scared to do anything cry, scream or defend my self. Al I could say was - “why are you doing such to me?” To this I got replay of something like: “because you are dirty Russian who sent to Siberia our relatives.” I was to sacred to say anything at that moment. But when they turned around an walked, I cried very loud - “I NEVER SENT ANY ONE TO SIBERIA!”
When I arrived to back to my accommodation. I did not understand why I young woman, herself a victim of the soviet repression, would be attacked in such a way by already adult people. From this moment I understand that most Latvians are like this. I still don’t think it is because they are all evil, but probably because of lack education and intellect. I don’t like to generalise, but most Latvinas are generally less educated then Russian people. And now this especially shows with Rafal’s comment.

Especially if we take into account that many of the Russians where brought into Latvia after WWII to work in factories as unskilled labor. In Latvia NBP (Nat.-Bol Party, local branch) are considered to to be good guys by Moscow backed local Russian parties and organizations. They have been throwing smoke granades in public events in causing disorder, being detained by police for that and later posed as “victims” of “police brutality” in Russian media locally in Latvia, in Russia and elsewhere abroad.
Some years ago a group of Russian National Bolsheviks even occupied a church tower in the Old Town of Riga, taking hostage the tower guard. They threatened to blow the church tower up. SWAT team was called to bring them down. It turned out that the hand grenade they threatened with was a dummy. Lucky, no one got shot or died.
In USA those man would be charged with terrorism and imprisoned for years to come.
In Riga they were detained for a short while but later release. Russian embassy came forward with a statement where they condemned the “unnecessarily harsh measures and overreacting of Latvian authorities” of these fighters for “Russian rights”. The leader of Latvian branch of NBP was accused of storing explosives in his home, but run to Russia which offered him a protection against “evil Latvian Nazis authorities”.
Ironically, some time later NBP dared to carry out similar acts in Russia, which angered Mr. Putin, who very effectively got a lot of those formerly “poor victims” arrested and out to prison for years for much less important acts then taking hostages and threatening with acts of terror!

I live in Estonia for my whole life (yes, I was born in the Soviet times and outside Estonia btw) and I am one of those “Russian-speakers”, although I am neither Russian nor Jew. I have an absolutely Slavic name and speak Estonian with a slight accent. I have got Estonian citizenship, and it was not difficult. And you know, Boris, I have never met that “racist propaganda” from the Estonians’ side in the real life. My husband came from Ukraine several years ago - he has no problems with employment or everyday life either, although his Estonian language skills are very modest.

The last two years strongly divided Poland… I think Tusk and Sikorski (Minister of Foreign Affairs) have different views on the role of USA in our foreign policy than the Kaczynski brothers. Tusk is more pro-European. He wants to get out our soldiers from Iraq as fast as possible (in 2008 I think, though the president wanted to prevent this). As far as the Missile Shield is concerned - I don’t know how it will end. I guess Tusk will try to choose what’s best for Poland. I don’t think this shield presents any danger to Russia, but in the middle of January some Russian experts will come to Poland and will talk about the shield with Poles. This is some kind of progress, I think :).
Btw, “rafal” (RafaĹ‚) sounds like a Polish name, unfortunately…

I did not read through the links you provide. I am not politician thus I am not paid for analyzing tons of text thousands of people produce throughout the world every day.
We are not talking about some long one events, a part of semi-forgotten history, so I do not need your links to know what is the reality, because I live in it here every day of my life. You can spent days, months and years collecting views and opinions which seem to support your statements, but that will only
prove that you have a lot of patience and a mission to complete, not that what you say is what really is there.
I looked quickly scanned over the texts you suggest and as much as I am concerned I can say the following:
1. they say truth
2. they do not say all truth
If I got the idea right, basically they say that many people who came to Baltic states after WWII are left without citizenship and that is the pity. Which I agree to. I am sorry it had to happen this way.
What is not mentioned however, is the reason WHY it happened this way. It does not, unless I missed something - which is possible, talk about CRIME committed by USSR, the occupation and annexation of Baltic states, the population loss, the Russification, the population transfers (depopulation with following colonization) which sometimes effectively come close to attempted genocide.
The document by the respectable organization (which I really respect) stems from the flawed prepositions, thus creating misleading conclusions.
Everyone knows, that in any science which deals with systems you get different results according to how you define system boundary. This time the result changes dramatically depending upon whether or whether not you do include the fact that USSR violently took over the Baltic states and tried to do the same with Finland. Poland was luckier - it was reborn after initial destruction because Allies insisted.
The discrimination talked about there is not an actual discrimination in legal sense, but a “discrimination” in a way that ex-Soviets are not doing in Latvia so well now as they would be doing if that country still would have been part of USSR or part of Russia. Yes, but you know, this IS NOT Russia. So, sorry.
Fixing this “discrimination” thing would cause discrimination of other kind - by legalizing and making permanent consequences of Soviet occupation.
Still, documents give rather clear picture if we look at the details separately.
- Yes, newcomer Soviet citizens did not get Latvian citizenship. Why? Because they were citizens of the USSR. USSR had criminally taken over Baltic states and committed numerous crimes there before, during and after WWII. Successor of USSR is Russia. So they are entitled to Russian citizenship (Russia has confirmed it). Go get it!
- No? Do you want Latvian citizenship? OK! No problem! Learn the language and crash course in history! Too much asked? F#ck you! Find another country!
- Complaining about “discrimination” because of language requirements? Why someone should hire you if you can’t talk to customers? if you are not able to carry out duties because you HAVE NOT CARED to learn the language even after you have F’CKING LIVED HERE FOR F#CKING 50 YEARS!!!??? You are just plain incompetent! You are not hired because you are stupid, not because you are “discriminated” against. (And still, it is common problem that salesmen, waiters and even doctors can’t talk local language. Not to mention drivers, workers, engineers - forget it. They don’t care. After all everyone has spoken Russian to them for 50 years. Why should it change? “That is not fair! That is discriminating! F#cking Latvian Nazis - they do not want to talk Russian!!!”) Besides legislation only requires you to know language only in certain positions - where you deal with other people. Because that is f#cking customer rights protection!!!! And not a god damn f#cking “Nazism”!
- Document correctly says that everyone who’s ancestor liven in Latvian Republic before WWII where granted citizenship automatically. EVERYONE! Non-regardless who they are, if they speak the language or even their parents where the ones who helped Soviets to destroy the country which citizenship they are now crying for. This contradicts popular myth by Russian propaganda, that only ethnic Latvians were granted citizenship. What a f#cking bullshit!
Do you know, that in accordance to survey by Russian-speaking TV channel in Latvia to a question “Shall a citizen of Latvia be loyal to its country?” the answers where:
- Yes, that is why he is a citizen! : 46%
- Not necessarily : 54%
Surprise! People who even are not thinking about being loyal to the country are insulted that they don’t get it for granted…
One of the renowned Russian-speaking leftist politician a while ago told that Latvia is as an evil as a Nazi country (does not remind you of someone you have read here in comments?)and shall be destroyed! That Russians should have taken matters to their own hands in the beginning of nineties and, like they did it in Transnistria. If you happen not to know, I will remind you that there was civil war in Moldova, where Russian rebels, backed by Russian army, established their non-recognized “republic of Transnistria”. With many casualities on both sides. Well, sounds like instigation for war to me.
I just f#cking wonder why Latvians and Estonians still smile to Russians and talk Russian. And no one ever discriminates” anyone. There used to be more national motivated fights amongst youngsters in Soviet times than there are now.
Do you know, that the top-security man in Latvia is Russian? Mr. Aleksey Loskutov? That would approximately correspond to something like FBI director in USA. Yes, he is Russian and talks with rather strong Russian accent. Very professional and well respected man. Recently Prime minister wanted to displace him, because he had dug up some dirty stuff on political parties. Surprise! Huge crowds of people, mostly consisting of Latvians, gathered in front of Parliament building in defence of this guy! Crowd of Latvians came to defend Russian from their own government!!! And it was event organized by Latvian people of culture and science. I do not know why Russian media did not get involved. I guess they were too busy pumping regular dose of phobia and paranoia to minds of their readers. Well, it does not matter at all, are you Latvian, Russian, Lithanian, Jew, Polish, whatever. As long as you play with a team, and are not waving the Red Flag / flag of Russia and shouting “Fascists, die!!!!”.
Despite the terrible pictures described by Boris Abramov the actual reality is that everything here is fine and quiet. Except for cases when some crazied Neo-Soviet revanchist / Russian chauvinist like Boris, who makes living by “fighting for rights” comes along. The worse - the better, eh? Then there is a loud noise and strong smell for a while.

I’ve heard that kissing in the mouth between men is a custom in Russian culture, as in USA fathers kiss their daughters in their mouth, it has nothing to do with homosexuality.
Here in Spain if we see a man kissing another man in his mouth we think automatically they are gay, but if they’re kissing on both cheeks we think they are friends, brothers or relatives. Anyway, kissing is most common between women that between men.
Maybe in Russian culture if a man kisses another man in his mouth people think they are “only” friends or relatives.
As far as I know during Soviet era (and in all the communist countries) the homosexuality between men or between women was punished. But kissing between men had no sexual connotation. Maybe this has nowadays a sexual connotation.

Whooow….heated discussion here, so a few points have to be made:
1. First of all women from Eastern Europe are in no way better, nicer or prettier than their U.S. or Western European counterparts. I personally am not a great fan due to a certain cultural gap and strange neurosis that characterises them…then again to each his own. Believe me, when you travel through Eastern Europe you see both attractive feales as well as real dogs!
2. Estonia is a very nice little country and I guess a degree of their nationalism is an emotional countermeasure to former Soviet (read.: Russian) domination. Let there be no mistake, in the former USSR, Russiabs were the dominating and privilegeg nationality.
3. Having said the above I must say that any form of nationalism is moronic. One can be attached to his homeland and love it, but that does not mean one should not respect and accept others.
4. Eastern European nationalism has deep and ugly roots. They come from lack of knowledge of other countries, lack of willingness to uderstand others, be they different in race, creed or religion and a general feeling of being threatened by individuals or peoples different than oneself. That is a sign of a very narrow mind.
Oh, well. Basically agree.
Just tell me that French or Americans are not nationalists, and that they have a lot of knowledge of other countries…
Eastern and Central European nationalism is so noticeable mostly because the system has been in forcefully frozen state for 70 to 50 years. After the Soviet block collapsed from internal weakness, stress and pressure, the sparking nationalism issues are the echo from this Big Bang. The “strata” of societies and countries are moving and colliding, trying to come to a standstill. As soon as the system will find its point of dynamic balance, it all will calm down and nationalism will become mild and unnoticeable as it is in Western Europe.
I am afraid it is not possible to shut them up.

U.S.S.R was fighting for workers rights abroad, while Soviet people with their property confiscated were hard working in poor conditions for small salary which gave them ability sometimes buy if they were lucky some crappy staff which nobody in the West would even think of having.
U.S.S.R was talking about nation rights for self-determination while slowly devouring languages and cultures of the people it controlled. Talking about rights of the nation and even of the particular culture of the nation would quickly lead you to KGB basements or labor camps where millions perished.
U.S.S.R was talking about “people democracy”, while there was only one candidate of the single party for every election. People sitting through meetings like mannequins, with a single function - to applause.
U.S.S.R was talking about peace and “fighting for peace”. Organizing “peace festivals” and “goodwill festivals”, while being one of the most militarized countries in history.
All kinds of leftists where condemning USA as war monger for trying to contain the Communists who were building “internationalist” Moscow controlled and Russian speaking empire where the Sun never sets.
Why? Because Soviets were talking about peace, equality, love, friendship.
Those folks are not gone anywhere. The same people who were talking about “people democracy” are talking about “sovereign democracy” now and instead of “fighting for rights of workers” they are “fighting for human rights”.

Boris writes weird political propaganda and disinformation spam. Anyone who tries to disagree is immediately branded Fascist etc and anything he/she says is twisted in the wildest manner. Absolute demagogy and lack of consequence and logic. Any means, including outright lies and forgery, are good to discredit and silence the opponent. And when even that does not help, there comes this “eviction” thing.

I know that the notion of “every ethnic Russian in the Baltic States being an occupant” is going to be difficult to dismantle, because that little head of yours is brainwashed beyond comprehension, but nevertheless I will try.
Firstly, little boy, I would like to tell you that Russians and Jews in fact suffered the most under Soviet Despotism. Baltic sates were occupied just under 50 year and Russian had to suffer for almost a century. So despite what you might hear in the Estonian media, Russia and Jews hate Soviet Union probably more then the Balts.
Who occupied Baltic States? Was it the 20/30 something ethnic Russian that are you now discrimination? Or was it even the older generation who where forced to move to the Baltic States by the orders of the Party? Why does your government and people like you take out all their rage of being occupied on people who have nothing to do with it, and have been themselves repressed by the same people by the same system? I really find it amazing that poor people like yourself are brainwashed to such an extend, that they are an able to understand something as simple as this.
