Kamchatka Bears

russian bears 1

Some people say bears wander around the Russian cities begging for food, especially during winter. Of course that’s not true, bears don’t walk in the cities, but in some Russian areas one can wander around and don’t touch people.

very cute bears, but do they ever bite?

    2. Steelbud says:

These are small. You don’t want to meet a grown one.

    3. Red Robot says:

I want to go and play with the bears!!!

      I wish there were more…

    5. Aww, aren’t they cute?

    6. man and beast, together in harmony ;)

    7. Richard S. says:

A couple from Canmore Alberta lived with these bears. They were very tame. As long as mankind does not invade their (the bear’s) territory the bears should be harmless…

Or if they’re hungry or diseased, they may attack. I’ve often heard that black bears are more dangerous, even though they’re smaller, because they’re more likely to have trouble finding food. A couple of years ago a friend of mine who was living up above the artic circle told me the story of a dog sledder who came across a Grizzly bear who’d prematurely emerged from hibernation. As the team went by, the bear attacked, killing all of the dogs. The dog sledder ‘bearly’ got away with his life.

    8. It’s awrite. Those bears thankfully only attack Americans, ken.

Better they don’t taste human flesh, or else…

    11. I am reminded of enviro-moron Timothy Treadwell, good riddance we’re all better off without him. The guy was a complete fucking socialist nutbar moonbat asshole, he also took another human with him that’s the only part I feel sad about. Burn in hell Treadwell.

      • What the fuck are you saying??? Timothy Treadwell was able to shoot some amazing footage of the Alaskan wilderness. He worked only for those summer and did an amzing job at understanding the bear social behaviour.

You can say he was a fool but man, he died doing what he loved to do the most: being close to the bears.

Respect the ones who lived passionately, you stupid bureaucrat.

        • I agree with Anthony that the only tragic part of Treadwell’s story is that he, along with his idiotic enablers in Hollywood, led another poor soul to a violent, horrible death.

Treadwell “lived passionately” as a burned-out doper and a homeless bum, while relying on less “passionate” but responsible person to feed him and pay his bills. That is, until he conned a bunch of gullible Hollywood morons into setting up a fund for him to live on so he could “study” bears in Alaska.

Hollywood actors–most of whom generally know as much about science as they do foreign policy and other subjects that require a little more than looking good and being able to read lines from a script–really believed Treadwell was a “bear whisperer,” and that he could “communicate” with them.

I suppose the bears delivered a message that Treadwell and his supporters understood when they ripped him and his poor girlfriend to shreds. That’s what wild, carnivorous animals are apt to do sometimes, regardless of which idiotic human “whispers” to them. I suppose he should have whispered to them to drop him and stop mauling him, instead of screeching and screaming the way he did. Maybe then they would have “understood” him.

Don’t hold back. Let’s hear how you really feel about him! ;-)

These are great photos. Politics and other issues aside . . . sometimes I think I’d like to live in Russia (maybe several months out of the year) just to enjoy the vast openness and magnificent scenery.

    13. I don’t know what happened to my buddy. We had a few drinks at the camp, and right before I passed out I heard him say, “I’m going to bet the pears.”

    14. Hice says:

In America trust until now, that bears for us walk on cities!
      Bugaga!

    15. That is something else…..I too sure would like to visit Russia and see the out back areas.
      Really good pic’s Thanks!

    16. Marvin says:

I think mummy bear said to the baby bears ” Go find some people, and bring them to me, I like the gamey tang of human flesh “

    17. onitake says:

      awwww cuddly-wuddly teddies! :3

    18. Tim says:

those aren’t bears! they are just unshaven russian children

    19. So much for compassion.

    20. photoshop says:

I look at the beats and think “fur coat”.

    21. Visitor says:

I still think the first photo is cool. It’s as if the little bear is standing there thinking, “Why should I wade out there and try to swipe fish from the water, when my fishing partner here will reel them in for me?”

I wonder if he’s any help cleaning up around the camp?

    22. sinkei says:

Do not bears attack it why?
Did you breed at child’s bear?

    23. million says:

      very very very very cuuuuuute!!

I haven’t seen it before like this picture.

      How cute bears are!

I almost be killed by those pictures lol.

    24. noozhnik says:

These bears were raised from cubs by that man with the white hair, who is Canadian and received permission from the Russian government biologists to live in kamchatka and take care of them after their mother was killed by poachers. So they are not exactly “wild” as they have grown up next to him. There was a show about him and his wife on the American discovery channel.

    25. Shooroop says:

      Like the nice bears)))))

    26. [...] East. Eastern parts of Russia is in exact what we need to start to dig out an information: Siberia, bears, mugs drinking vodka all day long. Very touching [...]

    27. ALPECO says:

noozhnik IS right , and all the bear were shot death by hunters in the end

    28. HuntingWolf says:

Wow! I live in the south of Russia and couple of times I met bears in the mountain forests. They ran away as the saw me, but I don’t recommend anyone to approach them as you never know when the “mishka” ate last time :))
