Space Through the Eyes of Soviet Cosmonauts

Space Through the Eyes of Soviet Cosmonauts 1

What one will see below is the most realistic art about space. These pictures were made by two former Soviet cosmonauts and big friends - Leonov and Sokolov. After finishing space flyings, they started to picture what they have seen (and even more) on a canvas.

      nicely overdramatized

      Blood? on my windowspane?

    3. The future is not what it used to be…space travel now evokes feelings of nostalgia.

    4. markoff says:

a wonder they didnt beat us to the moon with their concpetual artworks, migs and megs of space technologies, bloody space windows of awe, planet rainbows, and the venus flytrap moon base.

    5. These are clearly photoshopped (R)(TM). Please can the originals be re-submitted.

    6. You can definately say that those space craft have balls.

    7. Pros says:

      That’s photoshop

And IGOR is a BALTIC FAG

    8. Wow, this is some good art. very old style almost surrealist look on the future. prettty

    9. These paintings are remarkable. No photograph can capture what they have experienced.

    10. Damn, those are some cool paintings. They could be some good inspiration for a science fiction novel of some kind.

    11. maxD says:

Didn’t know Russians set foot on the moon, too.

    12. Elrich says:

excellent art work. thanks for posting these. I am a big fan of art and design from the atomic age. these have a darker feel to them than the american art from the space age. a very mysterious look to them….wunderbar!

    13. Gurtek-singh says:

      nice piece of art……

    14. jmndos says:

So did the russians have plans for manned missions to the moon and mars ?

What about other space stations ?

      • Sumar says:

The Venus, Mars and Moon images are from automated vehicles which landed on said bodies long before any other countries space vehicles

There is a Mars mission on now, astronauts are being trained for it in a joint effort of ESA and FKA
Delivery vehicle is in the design and prototype stages

The ISS (MIR-2) is the only current Space Station, although a Lunar space station will be in order after a more thorough analysis of Lunar gravitational fields and such in a joint effort of NASA and FKA taking advantage of the Lagrangian points (hence the gravimetric survey) as well as a Lunar base (for which a soil and deep body sonar survey is in order)

The images in this article speak to the feelings the astronauts experienced rather than the cold facts of the situation, I just wish they were of higher resolution

    15. Costas says:

Leonov was a kosmonaut (and space artist by hobby). Sokolov was not, just a great artist. And they were friends, true.
