This is what they called heavy machinery in Soviet Russia. This giant excavation device was used for exploitation of phosphorus-field somewhere near Moscow and abandoned after the collapse of the USSR.

      And I believe the machinery is made in GDR (Eastern Germany) rather than the USSR.

      Wonder, that nobody made an attempt to cut it to pieces and sell it for scrap metal. I mean, in a country where people even steal powerlines and tear railroad lines out of the ground to make a buck of it…:D

      2) Lada and Zhigulji are the same two things.

      3) that’s the second giant abandoned machinery park in Russia!

      about 3) :why are those things abandoned..? i mean; somebody (like a rich person) could build them up and start a mine or something, even a museum for heck sake!!!, and make tons of money out of it! well, if that person could do a museum i’ll be glad to come for a tour if i could:D

      Thouse machines - bucket chain excavators, worked in Moscow region in open cast mines near Voskresensk from 60th till 90th for phosphates minerals extraction. Location of place, where it was http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=55.267723,38.818527&spn=0.003875,0.010042&t=h&z=17&om=0
      In 2006 in was cuted up for metal recycle.

      Museum in Germany - Ferropolis - there is similar machines there: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferropolis
