These are photos from the first Russian expedition to Antarctic continent in 1955. At the same time they have built a “Mirnyi” station there. It seems that penguins expressed interest for the strangers.

    2. Delicious says:

The last picture is fake. I know because I have seen many photoshops.

    3. Интересно! But this is not the “First Russian Expedition” to the Antarctic continent. Bellinghausen
has been there more than 100 years earlier.

    4. Bullwinkle says:

These are all fakes! The Russians staged all of these in a crappy Moscow movie studio.

    5. Kazik says:

Fourth photo. the guy on the far right side is my grandfather.

    6. Russ, Ian says:

It’s sad to see that Americans are bitching right now about Russia’s plans to drill on the North Pole. They thought they can just take over that piece of earth, while Russians were exploring and researching that region way before Americans did. Fuck US.

      • Pacific NW says:

As an American, I know what you mean. It’s a certain type of American that likes to whine and complain everytime there’s any suggestion that America isn’t the best at any little thing. It’s the patriot mentality and it exists in every country. Patriotism is the solace of fools, because every patriot is merely a little puppet for some master. I’ve noticed that the patriots also like to take personal pride in the actions of fellow countryman that lived before they were born. These people are often cashiers at gas stations.

Thanks for the deal on Alaska, btw.

      • Etienne says:

Just to let you know, it’s Canada’s government who’s complaining about Russia.

Open a book, look at a map: this territory belongs to Canada, or at least should be splitted between Russia and Canada. The USA have nothing to do with that.

Or as a funny reporter from Montreal said: let’s play another hockey tournament (like in 1972) and the winner gets the land!

        • Canadian eh says:

i agree with etinne that the land should be split up, thers no sence in fighting over it, we both live in northern country’s, and both of our country’s have bin there for many year’s. the US have nothing to do with the artic tho

      • svobodov says:

Well, yeah, when you win a conflict for global hegemony and become de facto rulers of the world, you kinda can just take over that or any other piece of the earth. That’s what “empire” means.

        • Canadian says:

It’s not global hegemony, it’s a question of traditional territory. Look a map and tell me if the US (by the small Alaska) should have a part of the North Pole. After that, look to the parts of Russia and Canada. C’mon, you got Florida and California, let us the North Pole ! :)

      • DaniTheMan says:

Maybe it is O.K. to Americans to put their flag on the moon, but not to Russians to put their flag in deep sea somewhere in Arctic…

        Intresting…

    7. Texas1 says:

Damn commie russian fucks just want to try to role the world.

    8. Berlin1 says:

Hahaha, in that time at least they didn’t place a red flag and collected stones to tell the world the antarctic continent has been russian soil for a million years like they were doing it last weeks right up the other side of the globe.

    9. chiz says:

Good post. You make some great points that most people do not fully understand.

I like how you explained that. Very helpful. Thanks.
