An Ancient Fortress on the Island

ancient Russian fortress on the island 1

Deep inside Siberia there is a lake, one of thousands others. And in the middle of this lake there is a small island. And on this island people have found an ancient fortress, which is dated more than 1500 years old. Excavations are needed in order to reveal all its view for visitors, but even now from the air its a nice site in different times of the year. First part of photos were made during short Siberian summer:

And these photos were made in April. In April in Siberia there is still a lot of snow, but ice on some lakes already melted.

That should be preserved as a UNESCO National historic site

    2. glvoid says:

      has it been recently discovered?;

    3. illlich says:

where in Siberia is this? longitude/latitude? or near any famous mountains, lakes, maybe near Baikal? (i want to find it on Google Earth).

    4. Chingau Wei says:

That’s pretty amazing. I imagine they built it up piece by piece during the winter time then each summer they’d bunker down. I wonder why they wanted to be there to begin with…

    5. tim says:

for an ancient structure it’s very uniform in size and straight lines. quite unusual hmm it almost looks like a monastary

    6. D says:

Looks like they had homes with sturdy foundations, with some kind of temple in the center. Judging by the location.. it was probably built by mongols.

    7. Ms. Stalin says:

The latest remarkable and rather mysterious archeological finding in this area is the skeleton of europeoid race with height of 1,85 meter. It’s very strange how could the person of these race type appeared in the Eastern Siberia…

    8. Mike says:

This is Amazing ! Why a fortress in an Island like that ?

Was it possibly a prison ???

    9. qwert says:

      leper colony?

    10. Trey Hunner says:

I wonder if the water level used to be lower, making this bunker more effective all year.

    11. Wally Owen says:

Anybody spot Lara Croft driving a team of huskies to the site?

    12. frodo says:

The ring was kept there. Some guards tried to wear the ring and within a week they killed each other. The ring is missing.

    13. J Smith says:

The size of the ‘fortress’ is more like a large house or lodge (ref helicopter and people and trees) - it wouldn’t support much of an army. Temple or trading post are more likely.

It’s about the same climate (based on a quick look at one of the above map links) of Minnesota/Lake Suprerior in the US or probably very Northern Germany in Europe (but without the warm Atlantic coastal effects). Not a lot of farming would be going on around there - probably trappers and hunters and (ice) fishing.

Notes said clay bricks - so no building in the winter as commented - had to be all done in the summer - but the lake shore would provide a lot of clay to work with.

      • Kotelnikov says:

You are an idiot trying to pass yourself off as intelligent. Siberia has a much much more drastic climate and colder climate than Lake Superior. Hell, even Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg are much worse.

So do not come here and say “based on a quick look at one of the above map links” then make some generalized comment. This place does not even have close to the same climate as Lake Superior.

Siberia is far colder than Lake Superior and Minnesota. Siberia is colder than Manitoba and Manitoba is colder than Minnesota - so your supposed intelligent “quick glances” are completely erroneous.

        • Skoob says:

Actually Mr. Smarty pants, Tower MN recorded a record low of -60F back in 1996. The record low in Siberia happens to be -90F, but that is in the most northern location where people don’t live. People DO live in Tower though.

        • tseplenok says:

the ridiculousness of the internet never fails to amaze me– here we have two people bragging about who’s land is colder– this is like arguing about “their manhood”, except in this case it’s like they are bragging “mine’s SMALLER!”

          who really cares?

      • BobPaul says:

There are no people or helicopters to reference in comparison to the structure. The only picture showing anything remotely like a helicopter is the shadow of one, but we don’t know the altitude it’s flying or the angle of the sun at the time, so that’s pretty meaningless.

We can reference the people on the bridge, and find that 2 people can walk side by side making the bride something like 3 ft wide, probably.

We can then look at the bridge compared to about half a wall and say that half a wall is about 60 feet. That’s half a wall. Even if that were the full wall, this is still larger than some of the smaller US frontier Forts.

        This is no hut.

      • Echo says:

If the information in the google maps link given earlier is accurate (”The walls forms the regular rectangle with side sizes 211×158 metres”) then this is too large to be considered a house or lodge.

    14. piers says:

Looks remarkably like a system of salt pans, but I guess if its a freshwater lake that’s not too likely.

    15. Perhaps it was built by curry Indians using filthy Paki labor. Hehehe, that was a joke brought to you by none other than Internet Sanjay.

    16. Seer-jay says:

Most of these comments are bollocks. This is obviously an alien landing site of some importance. Look closely at the square tracks inside the citadel and you will agree that these are the impressions of large space faring craft. They landed here to take on water and to filch humans for disection. Nothing more, nothing less - lets us not complicate the simple.

    17. Sarah Asimov says:

Photograph #7 looks like there is a shadow of an MI8 helicopter.

You are all wrong. This looks like part of the lost city of Atlantis.

    20. Intelligence says:

Amazing how similar these photos look to similar topology of excavations found in Labrador , Newfoundland

    21. Blaugh Fan says:

It was built by a conglomeration of Ukrainians and Nordic aliens. They hired some of the local Serbs and Mongols/Turks etc to do most of the work but they brought elephants from Thailand via saucer to pull the large stones. If you look closely you can see remnants of the laser cannon emplacements, opium dens and video game parlors which are typical in these types of forts. It was more of a beer hall than a fortress anyway.

    22. Mooron says:

this from World Of Warcraft , north lands …

    23. Myztry says:

What an amazing structure, due to it’s location. Their would have to be some strong motivation to build in such a position of innate hardship. A desire to be isolated. Most likely either as a Grand Residence requiring defenses. Or as a religious sanctuary/temple/monastery. Either way it would have require great resources to build, maintain and even meet basic survival needs. Such a crazy concept that I’m betting on the later.

    24. serb says:

This looks like hibernation place. Somebody use to hibernate at this place. How is this thing placed? Towards east, west? Main entrance looks towards ….?

    26. Martin says:

This is brilliant! The fact that this has only been discovered is, in essence, quite believable seeing as certain parts are Siberia are quite remote? I don’t know, seems kind of likely!

    27. latitude: 50º36′53.80″N, longitude: 97°23′6.54″E

    38. I am looking for a professional sports betting service and can’t make up my mind. There are so many services to choose from. I am kind of leaning towards this guy after checking out his video on sports picks. He claims a 97% success rate which I find hard to believe, I would be happy with a 60% success rate. Anyway, it’s backed by a clickbank guarantee. I have bought products through clickbank before and I can trust them. I was just wondering what other people thought about these kinds of products?
