That apartment is uncharacteristically clean. Either she cleaned it before they came over or she’s a clean freak.

Also, holy shit at the WAVE of cats.

      • KGB says:

WHERE ARE ALL THE LITTERBOXES KEPT? There’s only one other room, right? This is a staged photo. Cats poo and pee, so her bedroom has ALL the litterboxes in there or something is being hidden from the eye.

        • Munchkin says:

Maybe there’s a cat door so they go outside for their bathroom needs and they just come in for feeding. If not, she is a world class cleaning lady.

        • miss prim says:

actually- i saw the news clip on you tube and all the litter boxes are underneath the chairs on the perimiter of the room… but it is bizzarely clean..!

      • stand says:

wow, look at that video - just think, if she ever dies from the cold or old age, those cats are going to pick her corpse clean faster tham you can say ‘meow mix’

Subject: Re: Mushroom Beta Glucan —-Hipet

Dear Sirs: ( Let’s creative a magic for pet market in your country )
        *****************************************

        ******************************************************************************
For the above products, please let’s inicate the story for you, if you are interested in it for your market,
then we are able to sake of cooperation with you.

Shawnee loves Her Beta!! Without it, she would be gone a while back and now her blood level is better
than over a year ago at 19 years old! Here’s a photo our Japanese friend took while she was here last
week. which when zoomed up to 100% is very clear. Thank you and prof Chen from the bottom of our
collective hearts! She’s our little miracle, thanks to you both.
Above letter sent from Annie,Bernie Crystal, mousie Shawnee From Ohio, USA.

Mushroom Beta Glucan testimonial for Cat.
        *********************************
At 19 years old, my female cat Shawnee began to sleep under a table on a chair in a dark corner,
coming out only to cat and use her little box. She was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. I was told to make
a decision if I wanted to keep her alive and comfortable or begin considering putting her down. In distress,
I remembered Professor S.N.Chen’s mushroom Beta Glucan helped many with stage 4 Kidney cancer and
        decided to use it.

I began forcefeeding it to her by spoon every morning for a week. She would struggle some to avoid the
experience. I found after only one week she held still welcoming it. The next day I put it in warm water and
set it on the floor to see if she’d drink it on her own.

Up to then, I’d tell her it was “Beta time.” That morning I mentioned the word Beta and she awoke from a
deep sleep and came running to kichen and sat up for it. This is an elderly cat who never sat up in her life!
She drank it straight down and looked under the bowl sides to see if a drop escaped which she could lap
        up.

From then on, I’d sing “Shawnee the Bata girl”… and she’s come running. sit up and paw at my leg until I
set her “hot beta tea” on the floor.
She craved ut. I bought her a tiny soy sauce bowl as I found a plate spread it out too much for her to cope
with. It became Shawnee’s own Beta tea cup.

A short time later, I was giving her fewer and fewer Sub-Q fluids under her skin as she didn’t seem to
need the 3-4 prescribed per week any longer. Now I’m only giving her one or two per week. Prior to
Beta, she seemed desperate as if she were dying of thirst and would claw at all our drinks wanting to
have anything to make her feel better. That desperate fell by the wayside.

Last month she had her first fever so I rushed her to the vet. They kept her and sent me home to get her
fever down, wanting to keep her for at least 3-4 days. The next morning I called to see how she was
doing. I was told to come in as soon as possible. I cried all the way there thinking this may be the day I
have to put my best friend to sleep. The vet announced the fever was common as her age; it was now
gone, and since she was on the mend so qucikly ( and unexpectedly) I could take her home.

Her nest comment floored me. She said, ” Annie, Shawnee is doing so well I wanted to tell you, I don’t
know how, but her blood-work is better than when she was disgnosed over a year ago. We expected
she’d go downhill, but instead she is actually better!” Beta was doing the trick.

Then the vet found an alarmingly large tumor in my 17 year old male cat, Mousie. It was imbedded in or
around his heart. She shown me the x-ray and how it rivaled the size of his heart. We agreed to keep him
comfortable because to operate would be too risky due to the tumor’s location.

I remembered the Mushroom Beta Glucan shrinks tumors so I began mixing beta every morning into a little
food and he comes running for “Beta.” He’s doing well 15 monthslater, still hunting and so forth, so the
tumor must be shrinking. I intend to continue the Beta and have another x-ray done again to see how much
the tumor has become smaller. He is not slowing down as expected. If anything, he is more active with
        vital energy than before.

Mousie has Kidney Failure as well, disgnosed after Shawnee. In addition, he has Hyperthyroidism. It
seems everything he has ( a triple disgnosis) is being successfully treated with the Mushroom Beta Glucan.

I am beyond greatful I can give my beloved pets what most have yet to enjoy, and that would be a second
        chance at life.
We are blessed having been at the right place at the right time to discover this magnificent Mushroom Beta
Glucan. How does one say “thank you” for such a gift? Words cannot express that level of gratitude.

        (Annei Greenwood, Ohio, U.S.A.)

If you are interested in the “Mushroom Beta Glucan” –” Hipet ” for your pet market, please don’t
hesitate to contact us soon, thanks.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, thanks.

    2. Tommy A. says:

It sure is very clean for that many cats! Aw. :/ I wish the owner (as the owner of the homeless dogs) all the luck in the world! That’s a truly genuine act.

      • Catlady says:

Despite the fact that the cats seem well-cared for, there are several problems with this scenario.
This kind of overcrowding is *extremely* stressful for cats. There is very little space per cat and no place for many of them to call their own.
Imagine living in an apartment with 129 other people and not being able to leave or even know if you’ll have your own bed…I think you get the idea.

Second, as was just reported on MSNBC, the males are neutered, but the females are NOT SPAYED! This is dangerous as cats that go into repeated heats are not only in a constant state of stress, but even more
worrisome is that they can develop pyometra, a deadly uterine infection that kills.
To allow this is a form of animal cruelty and certainly this
is NOT a humane environment for these cats. I don’t think the cats should be killed or shipped off to a shelter, but they cannot remain in this situation for the long term. The best option here would be to leave the cats where
they are for the moment (and spay all those poor females!), but mount a serious campaign to find homes for most of them, maybe allowing the woman to keep four, provided that any females that live there would be spayed.

It is obvious that there is no way she can afford to care for these cats in the way they SHOULD be cared for and it is just a matter of time before there are cats that need medical attention (teeth issues, or diabetes, urinary tract and kidney issues from a dry food diet, etc.)
although it is more likely that this is happening *right now* and there are cats suffering directly because of her obsession. This is NOT cool and she is doing these cats NO favors. In the interest of the welfare of these
animals this CANNOT continue as it is.

        • Barry says:

          Catlady, shut up.

First of all, who the hell writes 3 paragraphs about a bunch of cats? If this lady want to house these cats, that’s her business. No one wants to hear your “Human Society” take on the story.

You say the situation cannot continue but do you realize how many stray animals there are in poor countries? Would it be better for these cats to roam the street in the bitter cold Russia is famous for? Pull your ignorant head out of your dumb a$s.

          • cat lover says:

            Barry,
your comments are ignorant. Obviously, your compassion for these animals is right up there with your intelligence…

I agree with Catlady: there are too many cats for the space. Yes, it’s nice that this woman wants to take care of them and I commend her for that, but one suggestion to get her “cat fix” is that she can find work at a local shelter. And unless she has a ton of money to spare, getting food, litter, medicine and regular checkups at the vet will be an incredible feat. Do you realize that if one cat contracts a urinary tract infection (UTI), it will be only a matter of days/weeks before it spreads through the entire 130 cats? What will she do then?

The cats do look healthy and the apartment clean. She’s doing a good job, there. Good luck to her.

            • Chrissa says:

              Cat Lover,

Your comments are ignorant and your lack of understanding (and statistical knowledge of Russia) makes you less than an authority to be calling anyone else stupid.

Russia can’t even take care of all of it’s orphan children, let alone stray cats. For many if not most, this lady are these cat’s best option. Russia has millions of homeless children, even raising other homeless children.

Why don’t you Google “Russian Orphans Huffing” and educate yourself before calling someone else ignorant.

          • AhnimalLover says:

I’m NOT a cat lady myself, but “catLady” is right. NO species wants to be crowded together like that, not even angry druggies like the one cussing out the “CatLady” a minute ago. Even those angry druggies need more space AND more food than that.
Also, WHAT is “porridge” that she uses to feed them besides a tiny bag of dry cat food? The british call porridge “oatmeal”! That’s cruelty if that’s also what it means in Russia!
(Go back to sleep angry druggie! Reality is cat lady was right.)

        • Chrissa says:

Um, I am afraid you are mistaken, and a bit overzealous there.

I have had my female 4 yr at the vet many times because she is not yet fixed either, and she has yet to come into heat at all. This is actually not extremely rare.

Not only is this house clean, but the cats are clean, well cared for, and in many cases cats create close associations with each other and the space they are in. The closeness makes them feel protected and as one organism. Do I think it’s excessive? Sure. But who are we to judge? This woman is cleaner than I bet most of you and the cats are being well cared for. Why don’t we crusade for animals crawling around in their own feces or dogs that are being fought instead of doing anything right now other than saying, “holy shit, that’s cool”

          • fuckyoucunts says:

            Chrissa:

Are you some kind of fuckin’ retard? Do you REALLY have to think about why it’s a BAD idea to have ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY PISSING, SHITTING, FUCKING ANIMALS in such a small space?

            You make me fucking sick..

Why don’t you try and live in a small house with 200 people, and see if you like it, you fucking idiot.

To the morons who say these cats would be better off here than on the street, you obviously know sweet fuck all about cats. They are basically WILD animals in their non-domesticated state. In Australia, cats that live outdoors (in 45C PLUS heat) have evolved in just 15 years to animals that are as large as a baby puma or lion. They are not stupid, or helpless, unlike you dumb fucks.

            • toast_recon says:

              Ok everyone just stop!
You all have valid points but flaming will not help anything!
None of your are really ignorant, all of you have valid points.
That being said, I agree that these are not suitable living conditions. Although it is a near-adequate temporary solution, it is unacceptable in the long term. They need to find good homes.
I would say any more than 5 cats in a home that size is crazy.
UM, FYC(the guy who spoke before me), you are certainly incorrect. Evolution is something that takes course over tens of thousands of years or longer, nothing could happen that drastic over the course of a decade. You should also be banned and your comment deleted.

              • fuckyoucunts says:

                toast_recon
you are wrong. Obviously you know fuck-squat about evolution. It has been demonstrated a number of times that animals can evolve over the course of a few generations if the conditions are right - In the case of Australian feral cats, these are cats that have escaped into a wilderness where they have a hugely abundant food supply, and no natural predators. Of COURSE they will grow larger over the course of a few generations. Any Australian farmer will tell you you don’t want to piss off a female feral cat guarding her young, because the big ones could kill your dogs. And yes, they DO grow to be as big as dogs or pumas. I have seen them with my own two eyes.

If you don’t believe me, look at this link (and no, there are no pumas or native wild cats in Australia, this is a FERAL cat.)

                http://neatorama.cachefly.net/images/2006-05/australian-mystery-cat-gippsland.jpg
                http://www.feral.org.au/content/species/cat.cfm

This should put paid to anyone who thinks cats will “suffer” in the wild.

As for banning me, fuck you. :)

            • You are the biggest moron ever! the weather in Russia in BELOW FREEZING for close to 10 of the 12 months in a year! How the hell do you expect the cats to survive out there when humans barely do with layers and layers of clothing? idiot! what this woman is doing is admirable and how the hell do you know if she is or isn’t looking for homes for these cats??? And cats are quite fine with living in such close proximity with other cats. You see, 200 humans would piss the hell out of each other but in the cat species, idiots with as low an IQ as you do not exist and therefore they get along just fine. you idiot!

    3. hhuu says:

Yeah, the floor is almost shining. And the cats seem quite healthy and happy.

      • Catlady says:

Now, after looking at the video, I feel complete and utter disgust with regards to this nutty woman and real sympathy for these poor animals. When the lady brings the food these cats are absolutely frantic (*far* beyond what is typical behavior of most cats at mealtime), and there is no way for her to determine that they are all being fed what they need, especially when this moron is throwing what amounts to small morsels to them on the floor. I don’t see any happiness in this video, just desperation. Very sad indeed and I hope these cats go into decent homes where they don’t have to hover in the hopes of, or stress over, getting enough food. :-(

        • Chrissa says:

Who knows how she is when there isn’t a camera rolling? They are obviously eating enough because they all look healthy, well kept and clean.

That isn’t characteristic of unfed cats now is it?

          • fuckyoucunts says:

Oh yeah, they’re obviously eating enough, that’s why they RUN AROUND LIKE CRAZED FUCKING MONKEYS as soon as she enters with a bag of food. You’ve obviously never owned a cat, have you? Cats do not “characteristically” run around like crazed fucking monkeys at mealtime. Get your head examined, you dumb bitch.

            • ILUsion says:

Mosts cats do that if they are hungry, but that doesn’t mean they don’t get enough food! I have got three cats, I live in a cat-friendly neighborhood where almost everyone has a cat, a lot of houses or gardens have places where cats can get dry food, so none of these cats is poorly nourished. But two of my cats do jump around like crazy when they want food or when they see you are going to take their food or their milk out of the fridge.

In the video you see these cats actually get along very well, otherwise you would easily have two or three cats fighting over a piece of food. This many cats in such a small room isn’t healthy, that is for sure (they can’t all lay down at the same time), if that’s all the food they get in a day, they won’t last that long. For that many cats I guess one would need at least two or three boxes of food per meal, and even better a garden where they can roam, perhaps even hunt for mice, rabbits, birds, …

At least she seems happy and all cats seem happy with somebody taking care of them, it’s as if she has them all tied down or something. And I guess that if those cats wanted to get out, they could get out.

              • fuckyoucunts says:

I’m sure they’re happy. That’s not the point. They won’t be happy when they all get feline illnesses and their livers pack up from eating nothing but biscuits all day long.

        • Anonymous says:

^^, she was probably using that tiny bag of dry cat food just to distract them from her making their other dinner, since she was leaning over doing something you couldn’t see on the camera =) I wouldn’t have thought she’d just be feeding them a handful everynow and then o_O

    4. Pete says:

Yo I think three of dem bitches escaped when she opened the door.

    5. Chingau Wei says:

      LOL @ Pete…hilarious.

Personally I think there’s something very wrong with weird old cat ladies. Anything over 2 cats is bad, but 131? Jesus. Does she just put them together with catnip in a room with some nice music and watch them multiply?

    6. Erzsebet says:

      WOW. That’s… Amazing. XD

      WAVE O’ KITTIEEES

    7. Richard S. says:

That’s insane! Is there not an SPCA or Humane Society in Russia? Can someone confirm? The house may look clean but I don’t buy it. Can you imagine the stench and smell inside that flat? Yeeshhhhh! If I was inside that flat I would probably throw up.This is an unhealthy situation. Homes of this nature in my town are often condemned by the city and the animals are usually relocated to the Humane Society or often put down.

      • wangzz says:

        you tree hugging faggot.

      • Matt says:

Couldn’t agree more. There’s just not enough living space for so many cats.

      • So… instead of the woman dealing with the smell (her business) but having an obviously clean and healthy environment, you would rather they were sent to a shelter and put down? You fucking communist. You need euthanising.

        • Matt says:

It’s not the smell. I just do not think that is a healthy environment for the cats.

          • svobodov says:

So they should kill them out of concern for their health? Man, that’s clever.

            • Well that’s the way americans think. They never can see their own hypocrisy.

So the cats are healthy, well fed and groomed? Screw that, kill them all because it’s unnatural for 130 cats to live so close next to each other. They have no privacy and would most certainly rather be dead.

              Seesh, brainwashed `tards.

              • Right on. I saw a lot of clear eyes and healthy cats. I don’t have to smell the place, let her do her thing… I don’t see kittens, that tells me she’s also spay/neutering, right? More power to her…

              • Jake says:

I’m glad everyone is so quick to judge Americans, it really goes to show some other people in the world like to think their shit don’t stink.

Well guess what, not all Americans are what you think.

                • Fran says:

i wonder why the wiew of so many cats triggers such political- racist remarks ??
cats are the most perfect species on earth..when I look at them, nothing else comes to my mind, just love
                  a cat lover…of course

                  • svobodov says:

It’s well-known that fuzzy animals are a vector for ethnic hate. That’s why he was advocating putting them down - with the critical mass of kitties in that building, it’s another Third Reich just waiting to blow.

                    • Chrissa says:

                      I know, right?!

                      Hahahahahaha.

It’s not about stupid Americans or any other nationality, it’s about stupid people.

Like the ones commenting above. That cat room is cleaner than most kids playrooms that I’ve seen. Give the lady a break.

And who cares that she lives in Moscow? Pick another poor nation and insert that instead.

                      Jeeze people.

Why in the hell aren’t there more comments like, “Wow, someone getting off their ass and sharing their heart in such a selfless way for the betterment of another creature…that’s touching”

People talk so much about doing, they forward emails, they start petitions, but how many people DO SOMETHING? Someone should start a support fund for this woman, not codemn her.

                      • Veronica says:

                        kudos to you chrissa!
you’ve been answering everything that pops in my mind!
two minds alike two views alike… so that goes twice for ignorant fools!

pick up a book and read - ever heard of that?

                      • fuckyoucunts says:

Can you rub two fucking braincells together chrissa?

If you let thirty starving Ethiopian children live in your basement, does that make you a good person? No, it makes you a stingy fucking bitch. If you really cared about them, you’d give them all fifty grand, and a new house. Cramming them all into the basement and saying “Oh it’s better than leaving them on the street”, and feeding them starvation rations cause “it’s better than no food at all”, is basically saying “Well, they don’t deserve to live as well as me, so they should be grateful”.

Use your fucking brain for a second and realise that “helping” like this lady is may seem like a good idea, but ultimately, all it takes is for ONE of those damn cats to get a feline illness, and ALL of them will die. Not so fucking smart is it?

              • Jim says:

What does that say about you if you lump all Americans together? There are more differences among Americans than any other country. We’re not all the same. Damn foreigners.

              • Chrissa says:

                Not all Americans asshat.

Some of us would rather hide in a commune of tree huggers than live in the McDonald’s society, but then, we don’t seem to be included in the census homes so how would you know?

      • Anonymous says:

I agree with you…I don’t buy it either. There’s no way she could always keep it clean with 130 cats >.> I couldn’t imagine how she could even live with that many of em…although..they are really cute.

      • Labecula says:

That’s frankly idiotic of you. The flat is well-kept and clean and the cats appear to be healthy and nicely groomed. It’s disturbing that you take that to mean that the animals should be confiscated and killed.

      • edmcmahon says:

holy poop batman. Nice of you to have dogs…

someone should take a stun gun to those cats.. better yet, just leave it on taze and swing it from the ceiling.
        It’s be fun to watch!!!

        (you sicko, they say)

      • Justin says:

It is either that or they live on the street, you are sick, they are happy there and do not want to be destroyed, maybe if you lived in a free country where cats had rights and could not just be slaughtered then you might change your mind.

        • fuckyoucunts says:

Cats are not helpless you fucking imbecile. It’s well known that cats live just as well (sometimes better) on the street than they do in a domestic setting. In a place like Russia there’d be PLENTY of birds and squirrels and whatnot for them to eat. THey’re not DOGS, they’re CATS who are MUCH closer to wild animals. Ever OWNED a cat? Cause it sounds like you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

          • Justin says:

I foster a cat and a dog, and have fostered many more in the past.
I do not OWN a living creature, I look after them and a adopt them.
Those cats probably have the freedom to leave that apartment.

            • fuckyoucunts says:

“Foster”.. Fucking idiot. Dogs are pack animals and Cats are closer to wild animals. To the dog you are the leader of the pack, to the cat you are a food source. If you treat the animal as it expects to be treated in nature, it will have a good life. If you anthropormorphise and “foster” over a hundred cats like this woman, you are cruel, period. Those animals respond to behavioural instincts, not romantic human notions of compassion. Yes, she is compassionate, but her compassion is -completely- misdirected due to an ignorance of the fundamental way cats are.

It sounds like you are similarly deluded. I bet you’re one of those people who lets your cats sleep on your face and piss all over the living room.

              • Jess says:

In response to your earlier post… cats who live in the wild live for an average of about 3 years while cats in domestic settings live to be upwards of 20.

So your statement about cats living just as well (sometimes better) in the wild is false. Cats living in the wild die easily from diseases, car accidents, simple fractures and much more. So while they might be able to live in the wild they end up living better longer lives in homes.

      • Chrissa says:

If there is, I can find little to no information about it.

        And I’ve been looking.

      • D says:

There is NO humane society in Russia. There are no “animal homes” either. If this woman wasn’t there, these cats would be rutting for food in the nearest garbage dump and living in the house attics.

    8. rick says:

      she needs to get laid,badly.

    9. Dick Fassee says:

      Re: Richard S.

You a lil high strung? Maybe just a touch? Need a toke? Lil one?

    10. masslac says:

      “Dick my friend”

      No thanks.

    11. Michael says:

If I was his neighbour I would commit suicide, or I’d kill her, anyway.

    12. psy says:

those cats are going to have a real feast then that old battleax will die , they’ll eat her up and shit her out

      PS
it was probably cleaned for filming btw , imagine 130 cats , even if they cleaned the whole place up , those cats arent trained and they’d poop all over the place , bet that place reeks and not to mention that the screw eachother and that mean even more cats .. damn
i’d bring a pitbull just to see that happens

      full of lolcats everywhere

      • Easy to guess the answer to that; you’d have one dead Pitbull and 131 happy cats.

      • Beff says:

Uhhh, cats instinctively cover their “droppings” up- as long as there are plenty of litterboxes, little chance of them pooping “all over the place”. As for them “screwing” each other, did you see any pregnant cats or kittens?

Next time, engage your brain before your fingers.

        • Justin says:

Also to mention, cats are sociable animals and would mourn if anything, they do not eat family members and cats adopt humans into their family.

    13. Echo says:

For what it’s worth, none of the cats that I could see showed signs of being unhealthy. But even if she’s caring for them diligently, that place has to be a methane hazard.

    14. Uhm Duh says:

Yeah, it would be too much to think that she had the cats altered so they wouldn’t multiply. It IS possible to have a clean place with that many cats - look at shelters. If the cats are all trained to go in litter boxes that are maintained on a daily basis, there wouldn’t be a smell. Cats will not go where they eat either. You’ll notice, she throws the food on the floor. This prevents them from relieving themselves there. Learn a bit about animals and their habitual and instinctual behaviour before judging someone.

And yeah - its creepy - because we’re used to seeing the house with 131 cats that’s a foot thick in cat shit.

    15. Animalist says:

Awwww! Disgusting! Poor neighbours! This should stink horribly! Even clean cats, like all animals, like human beings, have a certain smell, and 131 of them… Interesting, are these all brought from the street or half of them was born at her house?

    16. Plus says:

      I laugh every time I look at the first pic where there is one cat per chair on the upper right hahahahhaha =}

Glad to see that the place looks clean! And she is a smarty pants throwing the food all over the floor! Loved how they swarmed when she came into the room LMAO!!!

      • RahKitty says:

I know! I laughs so hard at the video! They look like a pack of swarming bees! I love the one right when she opens the door and he leaps up towards the food bag!

        • Catlady says:

I don’t think you would be so amused and quick to laugh if it were *you* having to depend on, and compete with 129 others for, whatever small morsels of food someone chose to throw at you. That leaping cat you find so funny is desperate for a meal. Forcing cats to live this way is inexcusable and unconscionable.

          • Seriously, “catlady” do you even care about cats or do you just want to spout out a bunch of stuff that’s going to get these cats killed? If anyone is worried because of what she said, please read on. The rest of you, have a nice day.

These cats are ALL of an appropriate weight, and they looked much healthier and happier than a lot of the cats I see in the Southern California Humane societies and shelters.

I’m assuming the caretaker is smart enough to keep windows open for ventilation in whichever room has the boxes. If she didn’t, some of the cats would have signs of upper respiratory infection from the ammonia odors. In general, if the flat were so “unhealthy,” half or more of the cats would have visible signs of stress such as: respiratory infections, low weight, hair loss, ringworm, lethargy (clearly not an issue with the bunch in the video).

They are not starving. Jumping up for food, is not ABNORMAL or an indication of starvation or stress. Cats are competetive. My male cat will run into and displace the female cat as I am offering her a treat. The cats in the video are bored and they are competing for food and attention. That is normal in any multiple (meaning 2 or more) cat household.

As for the intact females, being stressed and prone to illness, I can’t agree. Being unspayed isn’t “stressful,” it’s normal. Granted, going into heat every 2 months or so is probably not fun for the females (but I’m sure it’s lots of fun for the males if they are in the same room). Pyometra is not that common, many breeders have unspayed cats that never actually breed and those cats can live many years without any illness. Besides, if a cat lives 2 years in a crowded, but clean, apartment to then die of pyometra, is that not better than starving or freezing to death as a kitten on the streets of Moscow? Let the cats choose their life.

Of course I’d like to see each of the 130 kitties in it’s own little kitty bed with it’s own private litter box- but guess what?… It’s Moscow. They don’t even have toilet paper in Moscow- well they do, but it feels like sandpaper. So this woman IS the humane society. These cats have no alternative. Give her a break. Or go there youself and euthanize them, because that is what’s going to happen to them if you keep spouting off about how “wrong” this is.

I commend you for knowing that dry diets are not ideal. However, you should know dry diets do not cause kidney failure. Vaccinations and poor quality proteins do. Adding moisture to the diet does help heal the stressed kidneys. But, once, again, it’s Moscow. I don’t think she has much option for foods. Besides, when was the last time you visited a US humane society that fed wet food to adult cats?

          • Veronica says:

            burned
            owned

            can you shut up now?
i think you have the idea of animals - in this case cats - eat something the size of a fridge…

            you do- good for you.
cats shouldnt eat more than 1/2 cup of food.

            so shut up already!
            so called Catlady…pfff

            I am… Miau!
            out!

          • ciprian says:

Well, it was fun to watch my work colleagues step on each other’s feet when somebody gave free CDs at a local activity here at work. Much like these cats.:)

      • RahKitty says:

I know! I laughed so hard at the video! They look like a pack of swarming bees! I love the one right when she opens the door and he leaps up towards the food bag!

    17. RahKitty says:

Damn! I commend her! Those cats look healthy and happy! It takes a lot to ignore comments, like the ones from some of you asses, and open your home to the many homeless animals out there.

      • Jackie says:

I think this poor lady has a real Problem, First off they look healthy and Happy, but you can’t base that opinion from just a short video and a couple of Pictures.
We see 130 cats, But I wonder how many cats have died!
Where is all the cat Fur? I have 4 indoor cats, one being a Maine Coon, Cats shed, and ALL cats have Hair balls. Where is the Room for these cats to Play? Cats like to Run, My cats like to chase each other and run around here like Bats out of Hell.
My point is, while these cats have a roof over there heads and food, is it really a good life for them?
I keep my windows open even with the Air conditioner on for my baby’s can lay in the windows and get fresh air and sunshine. Cats also need time for themselves to sleep and just relax.
I think she is being very selfish and needs to start finding good homes for them.

    18. David says:

Wow, I would love to have that many cats, but on the other hand, I know having that many cats is damaging to them despite how much you may love them. Having more than 10 cats between a family is cruel.

      • Says who? You just came up with the 10 cat hypothesis and now you think you’re THE smartypants.

        • David says:

There is no magic number, maybe you live on a farm with your extended family and can take care of 30 cats, but my general point is that having too many cats, despite how much you love them, is actually damaging to them. Like having too many children, they become lost in the shuffle, but when you literally have a sea of cats in a small apartment, it’s too much. I don’t think I’m THE smartypants, and it’s not a hypothesis, it’s just a warning that too many cats can be dangerous.

          http://psychcentral.com/library/id248.html

A small link illustrating my point. You also can’t assume that it’s always clean there or that all those animals are healthy as it appears on this page.

      • Justin says:

So you would rather they lived on the streets or were killed?

        • David says:

I would rather that these cats had happy lives with nice families, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. What I would want is for these animals to be rescued and distributed to caring homes, but we all know the state of animal shelters. I would love to take in all the cats, but I also know that I would only be able to provide a sub par service for such a large amount of cats.

    19. MF_Kitten says:

this had me laughin so hard tears were streaming down my face… just the sound that the ocean of kitties make when she´s entering, and the bunch of cats jumping and bouncing around is just hilarious…

also, she should have a larger apartment… that tiny size aint good for neither kitties nor woman…

i just want to lay down in the middle of the floor and experience the ULTIMATE CUDDLES :P

    20. mal says:

I can haz 130 Chezburger pleeeeezzzzz!!!!

    21. andie says:

i commend her too. what a big heart she has to put so much effort into helping animals not to suffer. And for david, how is 10 the magic number? like having 11 cats is going to tip the scale. If she keeps everything clean, and is loving and attendant to them, then having “more than 10 cats” is no different than having 9. Obviously she has way more than 10, but it’s people like her that make me think the world has hope. most would rather just see them killed.

    22. NQuartz says:

The caption reads, “…she loves homeless pets and simply wants to help them.” That doesn’t necessarily mean the 130 cats actually live full time in her flat. Perhaps she just leaves here window open, and the local cat community knows when she feeds? I’ve got two indoor/outdoor cats that spend spring through fall outside most of the time, but are almost always waiting at the door at breakfast and dinner times.

    23. creep says:

      where is ceiling cat?

      (watching you masturbate)

    24. peter says:

HA! My security word was VODKA!!!

One day, she is going to open the door, and the cats are going to eat her.

    25. Emakala says:

I only have one cat I love dearly and everytime I clean her two litter boxes twice a week, I question my sanity… Good grief. This can’t possibly be good for the cats.

      • Annie says:

I change my cats’ litter boxes twice a day! Twice a week, no wonder you are questioning your sanity. :)
Would you only flush your toilets twice a week and leave your waste to build up and stink? Of course not. Just because the cat’s waste is covered doesn’t mean it isn’t there, it is there, and the litter around it is absorbing the smell as it just sits there.

    26. The Dog says:

Someone wrote: “That’s insane! Is there not an SPCA or Humane Society in Russia? Can someone confirm? The house may look clean but I don’t buy it. Can you imagine the stench and smell inside that flat? Yeeshhhhh! If I was inside that flat I would probably throw up.This is an unhealthy situation. Homes of this nature in my town are often condemned by the city and the animals are usually relocated to the Humane Society or often put down.”

The cats in these pictures actually look quite healthy.

The flat looks quite clean. Who is to say that it smells? That is a supposition not based on any evidence presented here.

I guess killing cats turns some people on…superstititious witch hunters used to do it all the time.

      • jackie says:

it doesn’t matter how clean the flat is. the fact that the cats can hardly move around is wrong and heartless.

        • cats sleep 16-20 hours a day, and don’t require much space.
It’s not like she has 130 greyhounds in a flat…

        • Justin says:

Oh I am sorry, would you rather they lived on the street or were put into a giant gas chamber?

          • David says:

You go around making it seem as if the one and only solution is cruelty. None of us, not anyone, is advocating for a cruel fate for these felines. But the fact is, they have no space here. Imagine living with 20 people in your apartment, or 50 people in your house. I’m sure you would love a fate as such just as much as these cats would.

            • Hi, David. You are very sensible in your comments. I just wanted to add something. I have worked with trapping and neutering feral cats and I’ve noticed that sometimes they prefer crowding. They sometimes pile into one small “house” when there are many to get into. Also I will see 5-6 cats laying right next to one another when they have an entire field to have as their “territory.” If the cats in this flat looked upset, I would agree with the idea that they need more space. But they are not hissing or showing exaggerated, physical symptoms of extreme stress. I also didn’t see any wounds indicating that there were fights. I think she does a good job and they are all OK. Maybe she does have to euthanize one every now and then because of stress (the shelters euthanize 9 out of ten cats taken in). I think that’s still preferred to starving on the street.

            • menace says:

why does everone keep banging on about space arent there any doors on the old ladys house

      • David says:

They’re not advocating killing the animals, that is obviously wrong, but if this woman dies and her cats are found, or any other random and impending scenario, whichever organization finds the cats, if they find them before they die, will most likely put down many of the cats, which would be the worst.

The cats do look healthy, and it does look clean, but can you guarantee it’s like that in every room? Can you smell the room? It’s easy to hide your secrets for a camera.

    27. Nick says:

How do they not kill each other?

    28. raymi says:

      how noble and ambitious.

    29. I think she needs two barrels of Teriaki Sauce!

    30. OMG, I bet you all that throwing a mouse in there with all those cats provides the owner hours and hours of good clean fun every week!

    31. the best is the one cat who tries to gank the food from her right as she walks in the door.
      dude leaps at the bag.
      smart fella

    32. Joel says:

I bet that bitch took my cat.

    33. jj says:

.The cats look well fed but obviously are stressed out. I hope this forum and others will help get the woman some real help and adopt them out to loving homes

    34. MaxIsBored says:

      This.. is… incredible.
      how noble.

    35. jackie says:

this is disgusting. thats completely inhumane; no matter how clean it may appear, 131 cats need a much larger living space. i can’t believe that this is publicized and nobody has removed the cats yet.

      • David says:

Thanks, I completely agree. Seems like some of the people here realise what a danger it is to the cats, and then the rest of super obsessed animal lovers that are blinded by their love of animals. I love animals, and I love them enough to understand what these conditions do.

        • Volt says:

Both of you need to be euthanized.

          • David says:

For saying that ‘These cats need a larger space’? For trying to get these cats better conditions, and realizing what a tragedy it is that this is the best we can do for them? Please reconsider.

            • Braineater says:

Are you then implying that you’re actually trying to get these cats better conditions? If you are… like… ACTIVELY doing something, then I think that’s equally as admireable as what this woman is trying to do, her intention anyways & if so, please update everyone on how that is going… If this is the case, then I commend your nobility and heroism… otherwise - well, otherwise ranting on a message board isnt really going to change squat.

            • Chrissa says:

No. For not realizing that this is freaking Russia and there are CHILDREN freezing to death in the streets.

I am surprised that people aren’t like, “Why ain’t she savin’ homeless kids? Fuck cats” and then here you are being just clueless.

Did any of you dumbasses noticed that enters the room from another section of the house? Most likely she has 2 rooms quardoned off for the cats. And they look happy.

Man, I would far rather live with 131 cats than people. You guys are ruthless.

    36. Natalie says:

This is probably the most hysterical video I’ve ever seen. We’ve watched it about 99 times today at work.

    37. judybooty says:

My own personal hell. I would shoot myself in the head. Repeatedly.

    38. dogbreath says:

… because feeding cats off the floor is healthy AND CLEAN?

      riiiiiiiight.

    39. J says:

      What I wanna know is…

where in the hell do they poo?
what.. is her living room one giant box full of cat litter? cuz jeez… thats a lot o’ felines. (and i’m a HUGE cat lover…)

    40. JC says:

It’s really great that she wants to help cats, although that’s way too many. Those cats can hardly move around. I don’t think it’s right to have that many cats pent up in one apartment. They do look healthy and happy though, so good for her. Hopefully she won’t take in any more though… she should just donate money to a humane society or something, since she obviously has some money- it’s not cheap to feed and provide enough litter boxes for 130 cats.

      • Annie says:

If the cats were in a humane society shelter, they’d likely be in tiny cages separate from each other. If she can keep them fed, clean, and healthy, then I think her own private shelter for the cats is better than whatever usually happens to strays in Moscow.
They can move around and play, and they all look healthy and not stressed out.

      • Justin says:

your so called ‘humane society’ culls cats when they get to many.

    41. Lindy Lou says:

If you think these cats have problems, you should see the abandoned dog population in Red Square. These people don’t seem to have a clue about humane animal management!

    42. Meredith Z. says:

what happens when she takes in a sick cat who spreads his/her illness to all the rest? does she fix any of them?

not to discount the good intentions, just the logistics.

    43. qzilla says:

      reminds me of koi fish

    44. jayn says:

The floor is clean because the cats lick the dirt off 3 times a day perhaps. Sad to see all of them trapped in her one little room. Let them out lady.

    45. Kou says:

Unbelievable… I’ve 10 cats at the house. They’re lovely, but so hard to take care of 10. I cannot imagine for 130’s :-)

    46. masey says:

I dunno about you guys, but I want MORE videos of these cats.

    47. I just love this video. It cant be real but I love it. The woman is so cheerful. The cats are so sleek and happy, sitting on their little chairs. I guess Russia is a different kind of a place where they have ladies like this one. Where are the kitty litter boxes? and the kittens? or do they alter cats for free in Russia or do you have to pay to alter 130 cats? The place is tiled so she could just hose it down once a day. Its really adorable. I love that cat that gives a sneer at the camera man.

    48. Kat R says:

That is Cruel; Those Cats are Starving. It’s not even funny.
      Kat

      • Florida here says:

I agree with you. The cats sure act like they are starving…and to keep them all confined like that is a sin. Cats need their own space and individual attention everyday to be completly healthy…..
The way they go after one peice of kibble like that is sad to see.

        • Beff says:

The cats looked healthy to me- they look well fed, with nice coats, clear eyes, and tails up in the air- a sign of happiness. I imagine she took all the food bowls up, so that they could film the cats jumping all over the place for treats.

If you want to see starving cats, look at some of the sad ones in Pahrump, Nevada.

      • Braineater says:

unless they’re the kind of cats that always act like they’re starving and just wanna eat eat eat… that’s not healthy either, cute sometimes though.

    49. INJATE says:

    52. nonono says:

I love cats and while i love this video i do think 130 is a bit much . No group of animals should be pent up in such a small space.

While i do not believe this is crulety, There is a bit of wow WTF how does she do it here.

The cats LOOK healthy and they do LOOK well fed. Do not for a second think that their reaction to her bringing in food is anything but normal.

For crist sakes my cat goes bonkers like this every time i open up a can of wet food.

Also remember people,, This is in russia.. NOT the USA or UK. They have different rules over there and who are we to expect they to go by our rules? …

    53. Emma says:

So how does this work? Does she turn into Cat Woman x 130 if she dies?

(I wonder if it’s a coincidence that my security word was “kgb.”)

    54. dankdan says:

LOL my security word is Moscow….anyways, I subscribe to the thought that this video is set up and this lady really doesn’t have 130 cats. Think about it…there is no way the home or cats would be that clean if there were truly 130.

    55. lolcatz says:

I don’t think the cats are acting stressed out OR like they’re starving. I have 3 cats and they act completely psychotic every time I feed them, as though it has been days and days since they’ve been fed. (FYI, my cats are all overweight - definitely NOT starving.) I do think the room is a bit small for that many cats, but this is obviously just the kitchen and I’m guessing they normally get to move about the apartment a bit more (I don’t see any litter boxes in the room). These cats are much better off than stray cats on the street or at an animal shelter. They are obviously getting fed and they have somewhere warm to live. And as someone pointed out, there are no kittens running around, which indicates that she most likely has the cats spayed and neutered. People worry too damn much! These cats are healthy and happy. That lady would have to love cats to walk into that room. So what if she’s crazy?

      • Chrissa says:

Besides that, hasn’t anyone thought that if the guys filming this thought the house or the smell was foul, that they’d report it in their story?

        Duh?

She is obviously well known for this for the story to be done. I am sure if this were a cruel situation, it would be portrayed differently.

    56. peterman says:

Anyone who has more than one cat would know that there’s no way this is fake. When you introduce a new cat there is hissing and growling for days until they become used to each other. Sometimes is takes weeks or months for them to accept each other. These cats obviously know each other since they are not fighting (except for food). Cats are not like dogs.

    57. lolwut says:

This is horrific. Where are their captions?

I haven’t seen that much pussy since… well, I’ve never seen that much pussy ever!

BTW, for those that are worried about the cleanliness and care of the cats, the caretaker tossed them out the window. They’re fine now and a few less turds to worry about.

    61. Holy Jeez, lady! I know you want to help the cats, but 131 is more than enough already! Adopt some out! Share the kitties!

    62. jerry says:

Holy wow. I don’t know how you can live with that many cats… I’d be afraid of them ganging up on me or something. I mean, really. How would you fight off 131 cats??

    63. I wonder if they all have a name or a number. Either way thats just fucked up man, 130 cats? It’s not even like they’re in a full sized house ya know ?

Think of all the starving Asians she could feed.

      • Justin says:

That is sick, starving Asians can die if they think they can eat cats, same with anyone.

        • Chrissa says:

No offense, but where have you been?

Not only do many Asians eat cats, but they eat dog too. Lots of them.

And, not to be pesky, but where did you get 131? I am so wondering where this other cat came from since it’s proported that there is 130 cats.

    64. Mooron says:

      kill them all

    65. Cats lover says:

In my Country people would take them and eat as BBQ with beer. I love cats and I think what this lady is doing is really nice…but i am not kidding about people in my country make them a nice BBQ.

    66. best. cat video. ever.

    67. Cats lover says:

and for all the Asia people, my Country is not in Asia. It is South America ok…

    68. Guys, cats are extremely clean. They wash off themselves 3 times a day or more. They hate being dirty and do cover their own poops, and also they don’t like to eat in the same floor that they poop. If you have an opportunity to have cat you would be surprise to see how clean cats can be.

    69. mike says:

      HOLY CATS, BATMAN!!!!

    70. non fat cats says:

Cool. It is the first time I see many cats together and not even a single with obesity problem. Uppss I forgot they are from Russia, only here in America we will find fat cats…

    71. hyperpsyched says:

Only one explanation really makes any sense. The cats are waiting for her to die so they can finally try a little real MEAT!

      …and I thought I liked pussy ;)

    72. hyperpsyched says:

hmmmm… are there many Vietnamese restaurants in Moscow?

    73. Max Hardcore says:

A house packed full of pussy, how can anyone have a problem with that. Seriously, nice looking pussies too - no dirty or diseased looking ones…I say, (not that anyone cares to listen) that if you want to fill your appartment with pussy, go for it.
Only the jealous will judge you.

    74. Jonathan says:

In Soviet Russia, cats adopt YOU!!!

    75. Moonraker says:

The cats look great but where are the litterboxes? For that number of cats, the room would need to be filled with litterboxes!

    76. Jess says:

Waaaay to many cats. Yes, yes. They look healthy, yadda, yadda, but I think she needs to adopt some out. Though I wonder how socialized they are.
Vet bills must be a bitch and I’d be surprised if they are regularly checked up on by a vet. Maybe she gets donations.

Anyone else not forget that just about all cats throw up? Even if they aren’t sick they’ll usually leave you a little something.

    77. fuckyou says:

the lady with the cats should get together with the lady with the dogs and have tea together lol

    78. I think this is a hoax. She’s throwing food on a floor that’s gleaming. The cats are all perfectly healthy and appear to have been professionally groomed by a person, not just by the cats licking themselves. Look at the furniture in the room. It’s all plastic kids furniture. Someone got a bunch of cats and a video and borrowed a space and shot some film, put it on the Intenet and suddenly the world thinks, “I can see it so it must be true.” Damn people, learn to be skeptical.

      • nilveda says:

If you were more observant you would notice that the door frame is scratched by the cat’s claws and there are dangling toys for them to play with, it is definitely their playroom. They probably has access to the other rooms when it is not feeding time.

      • nilveda says:

This space is not borrowed. You should notice that the door frame is scratched by the cats.

You’d think she’d get evicted for having all those little felines.

    88. Raz says:

It amazes me how so many supposed “cat lovers” are either ignoring or pretending to argue sensibly with the logical comments on this site. First of all, the matter of their being “unhappy” is wrong. As others have correctly stated, the cats exhibit all signs of being healthy and happy. Their eyes are clear, their tails are upright, their body weight is correct, and they move fluidly. No, they are not stressed, or uncomfortable, or miserable. Please try again.

Second, those who comment on it being disgusting, inhumane conditions are clearly off your rockers, or simply ignorant. First of all, this is not a country where everyone is wealthy; this is Russia. Secondly, the floors are tile, so yes, cleaning them is easy, and yes, eating off of them is sanitary. What separates the floor of a room from the floor of a cat bowl? Nothing, even if it has 130 cats in it. Sure, you’ll get a little cat hair in there, and maybe some dander, but let’s not forget that cats lick themselves anyway. Both are easy to clean.

Further, the cats are not starving and going desperately for the food. In case you didn’t know, feeding cats at certain times is actually beneficial. Some of them can govern themselves and eat a proper, healthy amount, but some will go all-out and fatten themselves up. Cats can understand that they are only fed at certain times of the day, eat what is appropriate for them (which isn’t much, mind you — consumer society leads people to think cats need a lot more than they do), and they’ll do it fast. Why? They’re not lazy time-wasters. Haven’t any of you seen a bowl put down in front of a dog, and watched them go to town on it for just a few short moments before moving away?

Really, people. Learn to not be idiots.

    89. As a feralcatlady for over 25 years…..I do applaud this lil lady from Russia. I have had as many cats, however they are all fixed, teeth cleaned, shots and the whole bit. They also as feral cats, live in a habitat outside. And this is only due to them committing hairy kari if I tried to keep then in the home….This is only the case if they are found pretty young and early on. I would say this gal found all of them pretty young and raised them inside. I would find it pretty impossible to take a full grown feral and keep them inside without any serious consequences. So let the lil lady from Russia keep the kitties and give them loves. I would also like to see her adopt some out, to make room for more.

    90. Jennifer says:

I call total fake on this one.

    91. Kasuo says:

I’m one of the many cat lovers/fans posting.

Anyways, many of the posters are so full of shit that it’s crazy. They’re all perfectly healthy (as far as I can see), happy, and well-kept. I’ve rarely seen cats in such health condition - in the USA, cats tend to be horribly overweight like a chunk of our population. Also keep in mind that she lives in Russia - she is one of the few keeping something like a humane society. She’s doing a much better job then the humane society here in the US.

Although I’d like to see more space for them, I can’t say much. What she is doing is something I’d love to do.

I wish there is something I could do to help her…

    92. Canadian Guy says:

People, people, people…chill out. Whats with all the nasty comments about people here?
Let’s stick to the story…a woman has 130 cats.
Who cares WHERE? Who cares WHY?

Now…this could be a staged vid clip. MOst of the cats look
in okay condition. I’m a cat owner I know about cats.
They do seem to be frantic for the food this lady is throwing out all over the place, but looking at the pics, I don’t see any signs of ill health. BUT, I’m not a vet.

SO people…chill out and stop being nasty to other posters here over a silly cat story, which I still say could’ve been staged.

Finally, while I’m not going to cast personal aspersions
on this woman in the vid…it is completely irresponsible
      to own 130 friggin’ cats.

      Meow in Canada

    93. becky says:

These are cats not chickens. Feed them like cats. However; I suppose these cats need to be fed like cattle. Get a cow trough and dump huge bags of feed in it. Throwing morsals on the floor will not fill them up. They appear way to desperate for a happy cat.

As for the other comments: Make love not war!

    94. Chanda says:

Wow! That is A LOT of cats! Her house is surprisingly clean and the cats look healthy and happy to have her to love them though! I think everyone has to know when enough is enough however. I have 3 in a fairly small apartment and one I feed that is a stray. I’d love to bring my stray inside, but with cats there is a line that when crossed, will offset the balance in the house. With just 3 I’m constantly scooping litter and changing food. I can only imagine what it would take to live with 130 cats. My eyes itch thinking about it!

    95. It is terrible, this is not funny at all! All cats need space. I have a lot of cats too,14, but they are all healthy so far, loved & happy, in a big house- they stay indoors, with a big enclosed porch that some of them practically live in whenever we are home and the door’s open. My boyfriend and I love them to death. They are all special and get everything they need, and my house is CLEAN. How the hell would that lady be able to keep her “flat” clean to keep up with the cats? It’s simply impossible! It’s a ridiculous sight, I feel terrible for these animals. They didn’t ask to be taken into a situation like this, they don’t know any better. I don’t understand how anyone can think this is ok. Cats need to have their space, and these cats cannot be happy being on top of each other all the time. If anyone thinks this is ok they are sick.

    96. Matt says:

This vid is going crazy on you tube now.

    97. Moi says:

This is a woman with a big heart. A woman that does not like to see cats abandoned. I think she should go official with what really is a Russian humane society for cats. She obviously would require and want more space and donations too but she is obviously doing her best at a very difficult task. She ought to be encouraged, not belittled. She is certainly not increasing the current population of cats in Russia as she has neutered the males. If she has any available outdoor space, even if it’s just concrete jungle she could get some donations some day for a tailor-made cat enclosure so they can have a little extra roaming space. As for their toilet habits perhaps they could use a litterkwitter (litterkwitter.com). She obviously needs to ensure the cats stay healthy so no infections spread but I am sure that is an ongoing thought for her. She has obviously put alot of work and thought into this. It’s so easy to judge others but that’s 130 cats which have been saved from potential death.

    98. catwoman says:

At least she has them off the streets so they don’t get killed or tortured by some idiot and they don’t look aggressive.Good for her for caring,we need more people in this world like that. This may be alot of cats but she also saved alot of lives.

    99. urbantigers says:

There is such a thing as quality of life, and there’s no way all those cats can have a good quality of life living at that density. It may not be immediately obvious to a casual observer, or indeed to the lady herself, but I’m sure some of those cats will be exhibiting signs of stress. There’s no sign of scratching posts or toys either. We put animals to sleep when they’re sick and can’t be healed to prevent them from suffering. Keeping an animal alive at all costs, regardless of their quality of life, isn’t necessarily a good thing. From the pictures and the video, it looks to me like this lady has lost sight of that. Those photos are definitely staged - if they don’t go outside 130 cats produce and awful lot of wee and poo. I only have 2 and the thought of multiplying that 65 times…..! There doesn’t look to be more than 60-70 cats in the first pic anyway - where are the rest?

If the females aren’t spayed they are at much greater risk of mammary tumours and pyometra. The woman looking after them may be well intentioned but I don’t think she’s necessarily doing the right thing by these cats.

    100. DEB says:

MEOWWWWWWW attack of the kitties, wow they really need to spay and neuter out there, thats too much

    101. Cass says:

There seem to be a lot of sick people here, making BS comments. I applaud this woman for ‘trying’… the cats are clean and dont display typical signs of overcrowding.. ie. eye infections, lackluster fur. They are not skinny. Ergo, its a better life then living in the street.
You think this is bad? Have you seen the puppymills?

On the aside… anyone that does not like cats, was a rat in a previous life :)

    102. cheesypoo says:

If only Matt Matt Groening could see this he’ll probably flip from his seat. LOL Good luck Cat Lady :D

    103. wth ppl? says:

How can any one judge the sanity and health of these cats by a ten second clip and a few pictures? Most importantly, how can you tell how the cats feel when you’re not experts in the subject…and for that matter, who the hell knows what a cat feels?

    104. I think most of you people are unreasonable. Half of you think this is a good idea and the cats will avoid death on the streets. The other half thinks this is a bad idea that will lead to infections and unsanitary conditions. Either way, both sides are looking towards the welfare of the cats, so why are you yelling ignorant this and jack ass that at each other? Dont call cat lady someone who doesnt care about cats, and dont say that Chrissa is an ignorant whore. And finally, realize that none of you know the real story and facts so therefore cannot reasonably conclude anything. Now that that is settled, enjoy the crazy cats swarming and leaping for what it is to us. Crazy cats swarming and leaping.

      • fuckyoucunts says:

Mr Reasonable you are ignoring the fact (as are most of the idiots on this forum) that cats are not helpless on the street. I said it earlier her, but cats in Australia that have been “left to die” in the street revert to a wild/feral state and three generations on produce offspring that are four to five times larger than a standard domestic cat. This bullshit myth about cats being “helpless” on the streets is far better a fate than mass slaughter of them inside this dumb bitch’s apartment.

Oh, and Chrissa -is- an ignorant whore.

        • Gah. says:

Yes. Fine. Some of them will survive feral. Fantastic. How about the ones that don’t? Also, those of you that think it’s such a terrible thing to for this lady to take care of this many cats, that it’s not good for them, that they’re not fed enough, I have a suggestion. Instead of pointing out that there’s too many, or slandering/questioning this lady’s intelligence, perhaps you could provide a viable solution. And in the solution, the phrase “I realize the conditions for strays are bad in Moscow, but this lady is a moron…” should not be used.

          • fuckyoucunts says:

LOL you obviously have never come face to face with a feral cat out in the wild guarding her litter. Cats are NOTORIOUS for being incredible survivors in the wild. “The ones that don’t” ? Well what about all the birds that die every year from natural causes? Do you think you should have 7000 budgerigars in your apartment, to “protect” them from nature? Think about it. Yes, in the wild many will not survive. Most would, but I think you’re missing the point if you think a percentage of wild/feral animals not surviving in the wild is something that hasn’t been happening for millions of years, then perhaps you should get out more. The bottom line is that, for example, in Australia there is a massive and healthy population of wild cats in the bush, they don’t seem to have any problems.

As for your question.. The solution is spend all that money she spends on shitty cat biscuits (which will ruin their livers) on building a PROPER cat haven, with individual enclosures and large common areas, with activities for the cats. If you’re going to be compassionate, do it the right way. Would you build an old folks home for 40 people in a three bedroom house? So why would you for cats?

        • Yo Kittens says:

*FYC* I actually agree with most of your commentary (stripping out the dirty whiney stuff), but since you are such a potty-mouth, you really don’t serve anything but your own little ego. It really is a shame. You can make a point without having your mouth in the toilet. (Please don’t swallow… you’ll truly get sick…)

These cats may be taken care of in a reasonable fashion, but once one or more gets sick, disease will spread rapidly through this colony. Plus, cats are not meant to be housed like this, they are carnivores, not herd animals. I do have one cat that jumps around at the thought of food, no matter how recently fed.. but these cats are instigating the rest to do the same, by sheer numbers.

    105. Kennel Aide says:

Not that what I say is really going to matter to any of you at all but after reading through this thread I couldn’t help myself.

I work for an emergency veterinary animal clinic in Southern California. I take care of boarding animals, assist in treatments but primarily my job consists of looking out for the welfare of three cats. Count that, 3 cats.

While they are looking for homes for these cats they help us out by donating blood for emergency transfusions in the hospital.

Part of the job consists of giving them playtime. BECAUSE ANIMALS AS WELL AS HUMANS NEED FUCKING SPACE.

On their charts there is a highlighted box every other day. This box indicates when we are supposed to disinfect their kennel runs, brush out there cat trees and change out their towels and blankets. Its a major cleaning instead of the hourly things that come up like spilt litter or water, hair build up or good old feces and urine that didnt quite hit the litter box.

My point here is that three cats in a kennel larger than this apartment is a full time job. I think they’re kennels should be majorly disinfected EVERY day because it never fails to look dirty some 45 minutes after I change everything and wash it all down.

If this lady with 130 cats is for real then my professional opinion is that it is a health hazard, socially and physically to these cats.

I’ll agree that for the short span of that video they seem very healthy. Which is why I doubt the authenticity of this story. The lady would never have time to work to afford to care for them. If she is retired then she herself would never have any free time outside of cleaning. you might as well pity the woman as much as the cats.

Its just unrealistic. And if there is one thing Ive learned from being around fostered and sick animals on a daily basis its that you just cannot save them all. Whether they are on the streets or under the care of an owner who can afford $5,000 USD at an emergency clinic, still there chances are 50/50 on average.

      Shit happens.

    106. I hate Cats……..These cats looked like they had been starving for while to go so nuts at the thought of a morsel hitting the floor. I’m sure this place must smell of cat spray and urine and a few poops here and there.

      All and all………Yuck…just fucking yuck!

    110. MOrty says:

    111. Dionket says:

I have 6 cats and a very large home and yard. I give them everything they want. They are all spayed and neutered, before 4 months, before any chance of reproduction activity.

Yet, one or more of them sprays the walls, furniture, up on top of desks it (they) spray the mirror. I have a fluorescent light that I use once a week at night to find the spray, if it is difficult to locate it. Then I clean it.

It never ends. I spend so much time opening doors, cleaning the 6 litter boxes (for each should have one, though they don’t use them as such), feeding, grooming, petting, loving etc.

I just cannot believe that the video is a true and accurate portrayal of what it purports to be.

      Thanks

    112. Victoria says:

      Let me state this . . .

I myself had 15 cats. We fed them equal amounts of feed, 3 times a day. Both the males and females were medically looked after and had indeed been neutered and spayed. I would continuously pick up more cats when I would see them on the street and bring them home so the number grew.

      Anyhow,
as soon as a cat would piss or shit outside of the litter box we would wipe it up IMMEDIATELY and use clorox, as well as vinegar or lemons to remove the odor too. My cats had access to the garden, but most frequently preferred to stay INDOORS. TOGETHER. During feeding time some would go absolutely nuts jumping up and down counters, pushing their bowls all around the room, meowing non-stop until their food was placed down . . . while others would patiently sit by their bowls, with barely a meow or two coming out.

I had over 30 rooms in my house which were extremely spacious, the cats had access to every room but my bedroom. Did they each go into separate rooms? No, they did not. Most often they would prefer to be in ONE room TOGETHER.

The only time I would force them into one room was during feeding where I had mats laid down and their bowls set up for each individual.

Yes, that woman should perhaps look for homes for her felines, however under no circumstances should she put them in the streets again or in a shelter. THAT is cruelty!

If only less people were so selfish to own none or only 1 cat then the “homeless” cat population would decrease dramatically. Although three is a crowd, two is company.

      -Victoria

    113. monkeyvich says:

UM. To people who are trying to suggest that putting lots of more cats OUTSIDE because “oh there are lots of birds to eat”, stray cats are doing MORE to kill off wild songbird populations and drive many species towards extinction than ANY OTHER FACTOR.

In many places it is an epidemic. Wonder why you don’t see the really cool birds and just bunches of fast-reproducing crows and sparrows in your town? CATS.

So that is NOT a good solution. Better to have vans who go around collecting stray cats to put them INTO insane cat lady houses, for the future of our biodiversity, you fools.

      Monkeyvich

    114. monkeyvich says:

Also, nobody seems to think that having 101 dalmatians is cruel. :P

    115. Mel says:

I think we need to look at the bigger picture and realize that there is a reason she can collect that many cats to begin with. There is overpopulation. Just a fact.

Whether or not the cats are comfortable with each other or will contract diseases is one thing. But what good does it to do feed those cats? So that they can come to depend on the food and have trouble fending for themselves? Perhaps some of them will starve out on the street, but couldn’t this be nature’s way of saying there are way too many fucking animals sharing the food?

Honestly it seems more humane to find homes for as many as possible and put down the rest.

    116. steen says:

i personally have 2 cats and one is just like those cats when it come to food.

as for cats only suppose to have a 1/2 cup of food actually it is 1/2 - 1 cup 1-2 times a day.

as for the litter boxes cats can be toilet trained just like children.

while i think the amount of cats is a too much cats can and normally are very social animals, remember they are the smaller versions of the wild cats that do live in large prides.
