Some Russian designers have started a production of a big, moon-shaped light-box calling this project a “Your Personal Moon”. Now anyone can get his own moon right in his apartment or his backyard.

That thing looks like it belows on the strip in Las Vegas, not in some shack. I would turn it off after about 5 minutes, when I started to get a headache from it.

I saw those pictures about a year ago in a exposition/museum in Belgium.
I think the are really great. It made me buy the book of the complete exhebition.

I’m suddenly thinking of Carl Orff’s rather silly opera, “Der Mond.” If memory serves, that Moon was supposed to be village-size, rather than personal-size, though.

I think this may very well work on Solar power. After all, there are many lawn lights and ornaments that run on solar power and have lifetime warranty.

I haven’t found anything that says they’re being produced or anything other than an Art Project. The chain of references links back to kak.ru, where the article talks only about the moon as an art project. I only skimmed the kak.ru article though, maybe they say something about manufacturing more lightboxes in there.

i’d definatly adore sleeping with one on, the moon in the tree reminds me of matisse’s painting of the moon in the tree.
but it goes deeper: when i was a kid, i’d insist that dad goes with me to the veranda to have a final look at the moon crescnet before going to bed… this goes back a long time, but i remember the wonder and magic and soothing feeling still.
if you slept after “bonne nuit les petits” and the sandman had spread star particles on everyones’ homes you’d maybe understand…
please keep me informed when the crescent actually is available for sale. thank you. the setups are wondderful too, so big applauses.
