At first sight I expected that they would simply let it burn down and clean up the ashes after a week :)

    2. Shizo says:

Too bad, it looks like a nicely designed building. I wonder if they can just repair the damage or they have to destroy it?

    3. Delicious says:

That’s what you get for not using panelky!

    5. illlich says:

they just don’t build death-traps like they used to.

      • Amerikan says:

They still do, except they are even more dangerous, because death-traps look nice, not like before, looking like actual crap.

Russia is still a huge mess, in everything, even building new housing.

When you buy a new apartment, for at least $300k+ anywhere in or near Moscow, before you move in, most people spend another $20k+ to do a “rehab”. On a brand new apartment! The fit and finish quality of everything is just so poor.

And of course construction materials are very poor too. There are few governing bodies that create and enforce safety standards. Flammable high-rises is just one small example.

          Amerikan,

Have you ever bough an aparment in ur country…you want to tell me that you dont have to do construction after bying an apartment in America. Please give me a break. And 20k is a good price for fixing up a one bedroom apartment. trust me on that one…

    6. Wisconsin1 says:

They covered the building in flammable plastic foam which caught fire. As an added bonus it gives off toxic gases when it burns. Fucking idiots.

    7. Richard S. says:

I hope the builders have insurance

    8. anticom says:

      Hey Richard S

Of course the builders don’t have insurance. Russia is building itself on the principle of screwing the little folk.
So the building burns: the guys who put up their hard-earned money to buy into this condiminium get burned.
Meanwhile, the builders go on to start work on another death-trap.
And don’t even think about suing: the court decision goes to the guys who can pay most to the judge. And who might that be? The building company or the guy who’s just lost his investment?

    9. Wout says:

Well, I’m glad no one got hurt..

    10. Im glad to hear that no one has got hurt there?
