Not so long ago in Moscow there was held a tournament of Counter Strike 1.6 game. The event didn’t promise too much, just a usual competition between two Russian top teams. They are Virtus.pro and forZe, the most famous game crews not only in their homeland, but worldwide also. In the beginning everything’s was as usual, teams were preparing for the game, setting up their devices and etc. Tho there was one “but”: some nameless girls, of which nobody knew, were sitting and walking around the gaming-room. And when the game started, the whole room of a playground turned into a dance floor with loud music and half-naked hot girls. It seems that sponsors of the event wanted to make a surprise for boys and test them for firmness. Let’s see what was more important for hi-tech gamers, pretty girls or their score in the game?

You In the Army Now, Ukrainian Army
Ex Soviet countries got different legacy from their parent the Big Soviet Union. To list some many Soviet armaments, some were lucky enough to get their hands on missiles and atomic stuff, then all the infrastructure etc etc.
And the compulsory army service is also the thing those countries have from Soviet Union. Like in good old times young boys of 18 and till 27 years old have to take their bodies to the army recruitment point and get their service for one year or more or.. get jailed or at least can’t get a job etc etc.
Then when they get in the army there are some legacies in there from Soviet times too. One of the most interesting facts about Red Army is that there were no socks allowed until some very recent times (2008 or something) or maybe even later. The thing that they used instead of socks were pieces of cloths that were called “portianka” and had to be wrapped around the feet each time young soldier had to put on his boots (everyday).
It takes it roots from 19th century and was totally compulsory for every soldier of Red Army in 21st century.
And this can be continued on and on, better let’s see some photos how they recruit to Army in Ukraine these days. Looks like nothing has changed from Communistic times. Same old tradition to stand pants down before a group of lady doctors for every young man in the country.

In Russian there is a saying about this, it’s something like “We want to make it better, but got it as it is always (bad).”

Another Reality: the Forgotten World
Times of the Soviet Union passed long ago, but it left some things behind. This is a story of the forgotten world and all of its tricky and unearthly makings which keep standing still and untouched around the whole land of already new country. The spots described in this article are not the places where people usually hang out… at least most of them.
Cell Go-Go
When Russian cell phone company tries to get attention it is surely knows the right technics for that.
But anyways on some shots it’s seen that even such sophisticated trick can’t bring much attention from Ukrainian people. Looks like men there are oversaturated with these.
Casino Flight
As we mentioned before sometime ago all casinos were banned in Russia except some special zones located far from civilization and no actual casinos were yet built there.
People doubted about those special zones rationality cause its much easier to take a flight to some nearby country than to this zone.
So apparently such flights appeared and on of the shortest routes were to Belarus - just an hour flight from Moscow. One of such flights which took a group of vip players to the grand opening of new casino crashed right near the Minsk airport few hundred meters away from destination point.

Nice Watches
One Russian newspaper has published the photos of Russian politicians and top governmental dudes with the wrist watches visible on their hands and found all those watches in shops so put this info together with the pics giving the exact price (without tax and custom fees) in the captions.
Those don’t require translations. It’s easy to understand them - most of the prices are in Swiss Franks (CHF) which is almost like dollar now (1 CHF = $0.99). Also there are prices in Russian currency “руб.”, thirty of such equals roughly one dollar. And there are prices in dollars too.
The names of the guys are probably insignificant cause you probably don’t know them, probably except Mr. Kadirov, leader of Chechnya, he is almost the leader in this list too. His watches are priced almost $300,000. Three hundred grands on his wrist.
