People of the residential building asked the city to put road markings on their parking lot, but they didn’t get a response, so they collected cash and did it themselves. The result is indeed a success:

  1. MattNSW says:

Doing things yourself is generally a far more efficient way of getting things done than waiting for government help, no matter where in the world you live. Community action is always the way to go.

    • Douglas says:

Due to corruption of the government in Russia they will not do it. In my seeing parking lots all over Russia I’m amazed of the lack of space markings. Most parking lots are a mass of confusion.

  2. Douglas says:

Striping the lot is just plain old common sense. Unfortunately many Russians feel that should be able to park ”anywhere” they want. A car is a cherished symbol of their *freedom*.

    • Bob says:

Besides protestants being hassled by the Orthodox church – what do you mean by *freedom*?

      • Douglas says:

Most Russians feel boxed in by their culture and government, so when they are in their car, they finally have some freedom. Speeding, road rage, breaking driving laws are endemic.

        • FunnyMerican'ts says:

…”Most Russians feel boxed in by their culture and government, so when they are in their car…”.– Really?

At least they don’t shoot at their neighbors, kids and their moms when they get ‘upset’ or bored, like Merican’t nutheads do when they feel “boxed by their culture”.

          Funny people.

  3. Nikola says:

You would even get fined in Serbia, if you were to do this by yourself. Yes, the local Government ignores the people asking to get this done as well.

    • Douglas says:

Nickola, you are totally correct. Russian bureaucrats love to impose fines for the slightest infraction. Its in their culture.

Even fake cops set up check points on the roads and fine drivers….that’s how they make their living. Russia is corrupt beyond belief. Russki people are good overall but its sad that they have to live in that mess.
