  1. Drasius says:

Pour ignorant! They help the devil.

    • Cover me, Porkins! says:

If it weren’t for the Soviets (who wiped out more than 80% of ALL the Nazi army and force in WW2), the Brits would be speaking German now. At best, the UK would had been forced to reach a ‘compromise’ with Adolf –and Sir Winston knew this well. No Normady, of course.

      …”Pour ignorant!…”. –LOL

  2. Reader says:

—“I have left the obvious, essential fact to this point, namely, that it is the Russian Armies who have done the main work in tearing the guts out of the German army. In the air and on the oceans we could maintain our place, but there was no force in the world which could have been called into being, except after several more years, that would have been able to maul and break the German army unless it had been subjected to the terrible slaughter and manhandling that has fallen to it through the strength of the Russian Soviet Armies”.

—Winston Churchill, Speech in the House of Commons, 2 August 1944, “War Situation”

  3. Reader says:

Sir Winston insisted… He was a wise man. You’re not, “Drasius” boy.

—“I have always believed and I still believe that it is the Red Army that has torn the guts out of the filthy Nazis”.

—Winston Churchill, Speech in the House of Commons, October 1944

  4. Douglas says:

Many in the West thought the Soviets were progressive and would ultimately be benevolent. Stalin had other plans up his sleeve.

    • Sole Survivor says:

No. The Allied leadership always knew who was Stalin. The Allied leaders also knew they could not possibly break and beat the Nazi War Machine without the Soviet Union in the Allied side. And they were right.

      • Cpt. Sternn..!! says:

You mean, the Allied leaders knew they could not possibly beat the Nazi forces without the Soviets doing most of the tough and hard work for the Allied side. And yes, that’s what happened.

  5. Avocado Advocate says:

Cool pic. And those Brits were truly (and rightly) happy. Nearly all the Nazi war effort and capacity turned on the East, and not on them.

  6. John says:

Next time your government asks you to go to war for them, Tell them you’ll do it for nothing less than a trillion U.S. Dollars. Otherwise they themselves can do it for themselves. You’ll have no part in it!
Then we’ll see how important it really is!
