American visiting Russia and taking photos in 1950s 1970s

American professor studied Russia and travelled to Russia multiple times in 1950s-1970s. He took numerous photos during his trips. He visited many Russian cities like Moscow, Leningrad, Riga, Yaroslavl, Pyatigorsk etc. Some of his photos were published in National Geographic. And here are the rest of them, enjoy!

    Fat people in Russian in the 50s and 60s… who woulda’ thought? Perhaps they are visiting Americans.

      Uh.. no. I remember seeing photos of long lines for food and reading that there were lots of shortages. Just surprised to see anyone outside of the elite be fat.

    Like most industrial nations, Russia has a lot of health fanatics and it has a lot people who smoke, drink and eat fast foods.
