Soviet space radio telescope in Crimea

Posted on January 31, 2017 by tim

This Soviet radio telescope was built in Crimea for a reason: Crimea had the most amount of sunny days in USSR so clouds didn’t stand in a way for the telescopes like this. This particular one was built in late 1960s. It was used in some Soviet sci-fi movies in USSR as well. Let’s see some photos of it:

This place was one of the most important for astro-physics studies in USSR.

And now stolen by Russia, should you have said. And the cost for Russia is growing, and will continue to rise. An awful lot. Thieves are seldom rewarded…

…”And now stolen by Russia…”. –LOL. Not according to the Crimeans themselves. Guess you want to impose your ‘views’ on them.
