Moscow International Automobile Salon

Posted on August 29, 2016 by marina

A homepage of the Moscow International Automobile Salon stipulates that it’s The most long-awaited and spectacular event for manufacturers, professionals and fans of the cars. Well, let’s check!

Within the first day of the motor show, there were held a several presentations of new cars, in particular, LADA, Hyundai, Geely, DFM, Changan, the Larte Design and Ravon.

In comparison with the previous auto shows, this year, under the impact of the crisis on Russian market, the amount of panelists declined markedly, almost a third of the area was occupied by the Museum of retro technology and advertising.

If two years ago for the motor show there was allocated about eight halls in two huge pavilions, now all people wishing to take part in the exhibition fit only in three rooms located next door. Despite the fact that one of them was fully occupied by Mercedes.

In Hall 14, guests are greeted by Ravon and Avtovaz located opposite each other.

The manufacturer of passenger cars “AvtoVAZ” presented six new models, including a brand new lime green Lada X-Code.

A Lada is a Lada is a Lada. Nothing will ever change that.

  2. Papa Karlo says:

Vaz means Volzhsiy Avtomobilnyy Zavod – Volga Automotive Factory.
Now traditionally automotive plants in Russia (with just one exception that I know of, ZIL) are named by the city they are located.
VAZ located in Togliatti (named after a worthless Italian scumbag, by the way), so the plant should be called TAZ – Togliattinskiy Avtomobilnyy Zavod.
So why is it VAZ then? Because TAZ means “a washbowl” in Russian – which exactly what a Lada is!

Good to see that Russia is making their own cars again, and look pretty competitive.

We know that’s something traumatic to you, “Karlo” boy. At least back in your far away, 1930’s dimension.
