Russian Village Oparino Lost Deep in the Woods

Posted on May 26, 2016 by tim

This village in Russia is lost deep in the woods. There is no road leading here, except this old rail road. You can’t get here by car. In case of emergency, a person has to walk 40 kms to get to the nearest place. It is surrounded by swamps. Two times a month a small, old train with only one car comes here. Thanks to the Russian blogger Grifon, we have a chance to peek into the life of people here. Let’s look!

This is the train that comes here twice a month.

And this road is the only link with civilization.

Which goes through the virgin forests.

Only 24 people live here, mostly seniors. No jobs here, nothing.

Sometime ago they had a lumber jack post but it has been closed for a few years.
