What an excellent work of colourisation. So good to see all these great peoples faces, so real and true. That was long ago. Now the poison of Hollywood and Washington have spread almost all across the globe, even in Russia, and one almost never see a true facial expression on a picture anymore. Its a disaster what has happened to us.
What a valuable collection of photos, and how we need to be reminded of the greatness of those who fought for us so that we should have a good and peaceful future. Little did they know of what was coming that should spread like a pest all over the world, the “Americanism”

The guy’s choice of subject is really weird. It’s like picking up photos of a serial killer and his victims and putting them all in the same photo album. Nicholas II and his family, and their murderer, Lenin. Nurses and their murderers and rapists. (I am not talking about the WWII photos, but of the guys with Stalin and Lenin photos etc.)
I’d say the guy is a real wacko, except for the fact that most Russians are like this today – they walk around with portraits of murderers and their victims, every day like as if this was normal.

    • Oscar Goldman says:

No “wacko” choice. You can’t “erase” History according to your particular taste. Don’t cry so much.
Stalin died more than 60 years ago, and the Soviet Union is History only. You didn’t know? Here’s a hug.

Some of the photos are of Roza Shanina, a famous Russian sniper. She was killed in 1945 fighting Germans. But in exact same days as she died, her older brother, who also served in the Red Army, was arrested and executed by KGB/NKVD on false charges. I hope Roza did not know when she died that her “comrades” shot here brother. They could have easily executed Roza too, had she not been killed by Germans in time. And obviously her brother only crime was that he was not killed in time.

    • Rashomon says:

I understand that her “older brother” was killed in the nazi Siege of Leningrad, in 1941. Roza died in 1945… If you are hallucinating crap again, it wouldn’t be the first time you embarrass yourself.

    • Phillip Jennings says:

Those are nice, passionate Fantasies, “Karlo” boy. You should write more Imaginary Fiction. So revealing…

It will help you to release your frustrations here –and your mass-murdering impulses.

  7. Igor says:

Nicholas II in a red shirt !? Artist moron . Military uniforms were only khaki .

  8. Entertained says:

Why do you need to LIE so much, “Karlo”? Amusing.

  9. Peter Nebelung says:

Beautiful job on the colorization. I only wish that the names of the people could be included.

  10. Martinus van Brederode says:

That is some top quality colouring work. I am touched by these photographs. Luscinia couldn’t have summarized it better.
