This unique test car was designed in 1964 based on components of “Moskvich-408″. It successfully passed performance tests in Moscow and was recommended for serial production In Yerevan, but due to different reasons it didn’t go this far…

    I’m not an expert car-ist by any means, but that photo with the rear (yes?) engine scares me. I don’t feel like that’s a great setup to have the engine in the trunk with all sort of other stuff, like your tire and whatnot. Just seems like you’d be catching a tire-iron in a piston eventually.
    Can someone point me to any crash tests they might have done with these? I’d be interested to see what the safety standards looked like (both in law, regulation and practice).
