Russian Military Jet Factory has an Open House

Posted on November 5, 2015 by tim

Recently an aircraft factory in Novosibirsk got an open house inviting anyone wanting to see what’s inside, take photos and enjoy watching how the most modern Russian aircraft are being produced. Some of the bloggers of course couldn’t miss such an event including Alexey L. who went there and made those cool photos. Let’s see what he got!

This factory is one of the largest in Russia. It was founded in 1931. At first it produced machines for miners but in 1937 it changed its business to aircraft building. It was producing some old Soviet planes like I-16, Yak-3, Yak-7, Yak-9 etc. One of those is placed on the factory entrance together with the awards display. During World War 2 this factory was producing up to 33 planes a day.

Then after WW2 they started producing first Soviet jet planes. Mig-15, Mig-17, Mig-19, Yak-28 were produced here. Then in late 50s it started to assemble SU jet fighter planes.
