Russian Self Driving Truck KAMAZ

Posted on September 23, 2015 by tim

While the whole world engages in self-driving car mania – with Google self driving cars cruising the streets of San Francisco, Apple self driving cars are rumored to appear in the year 2017 and Audi sport cars go driverless around a track at high speeds, Russia also has something to offer to the self-driving car business: self driving military KAMAZ trucks made their debut last week. There are pictures and a video inside:

As you can see, like many other self driving cars it is equipped with plenty of cameras – the eyes of a self-driving car.

Hope you liked this example of a “technological advance”.
Have you ever seen a German or an American self driving car being demonstrated with full crew inside? I haven’t.

I just don’t have the patience to scroll through these images at 2 number per page. Why not 10 images per each of three pages? This is very tedious and is no doubt discouraging people from viewing your site. Please fix it.

Maybe if you opened your eyes you would see them.

In US and Europe, law currently requires a driver to be in a self-driving vehicle, to take over in case of emergency. And there is usually at least one passenger most of the time, an engineer monitoring and adjusting the software.

Vehicles usually only run completely empty for special demonstration runs, on private tracks or closed roads.

So why don’t we send some Russian jeeps to fight us jeeps and throw in some china jeeps and some isis jeeps in a big tent, sit back have a beer and see who wins?
