Vistula Spit That Became an Island For Russia

The remotest geographical object of the Kaliningrad region is situated behind the strait near Baltiysk. For Russia the Vistula Spit became “an island”.  A “spit” is a small narrow peninsular.  Some pictures of the place were shared by blogger gfed.

Only in Poland is it connected with the mainland.

The Vistula Spit stretches to the Kaliningrad region.

The Russian-Polish border crosses the Spit in the center.

There are some abandoned German fortifications built in the nineteenth century here.

    Wasted potential.
    Krynica Morska is a tourist spot just a few km away, but on the other side of the border. You can see how it looks like on Google street view.
