A Piece of Italy in the Russian Province

Pavlischev Bor is a village located fifty kilometers from Kaluga, Russia. It’s the home for an interesting mansion built in the end of the eighteenth century. Bloggerser-rubtsov has visited the place and taken these pictures.

The ensemble had existed until 1917 when the main structure was damaged by the fire. It was replaced by a brick house that gave the mansion a new look. The complex belonged to an engineer Vasiliy Yaroshenko who designed it himself being inspired by an Italian house of his brother.

Owners of the mansion.

Why is such a beautiful building allowed to fall into such a state of disrepair? Why does the Russian government not provide funding to repair and maintain these historic structures? It’s a real tragedy to see this sort of history just crumbling into ruins, and to be lost forever.

Russia is capitalist now. If it doesn’t profit the oligarchs it doesn’t get done. I doubt the Russian people care very much. To them it may be just another symbol of of an age when a few owned everything and the masses had nothing.

Why oh why do Americans ask why Russian government doesnt have the money to restore these wonderful buildings. Well lets take a look at history shall we. You undermined Russia in Afghanistan when they tried to restore order, by supporting the back then called freedom fighters now called terrorists. Obviously when Russia was there it was bad but because your forces are there its ok. You undermine Russia in Georgia and now you engineered this war between Russia and Ukraine so that slavs can kill each other. Because god forbid Russia becomes stable again, Uncle Sam cant let that happen now can he?

Many of us in America know this but we are powerless to do anything. Our elections mean nothing. My fear is that the power drunk neocons in Washington may actually be stupid enough to start a war with Russia.
