People Getting Ready for Easter

Blogger Marina Lystseva aka fotografersha has made a trip from Yaroslavl to Rybinsk, Russia, to witness people’s preparations for the religious holiday of Easter. Some of her photos are presented inside the post.

People are buying Easter cakes, eggs for a subsequent consecration and for the first meal after the fast.

Choosing Easter cakes.

People come to a church on those days.

Communion now, sacred procession by midnight.

Easter souvenirs in the church.

Perhaps it’s the first communion for the boy.

People are waiting for their treats to be consecrated by the priest.

Tables with treats are standing right at the church.

They greet each other with the words: “Crist has risen! Indeed He has risen!” and kiss each other thrice.

The traditional color of an Easter egg is red – the color of life and victory.

Consecration.

Happy Easter, everyone!
