Back to the Moscow Scientific Library Destroyed by the Fire

Posted on April 1, 2015 by team

Maybe you remember the post about the fire in the biggest scientific library in Moscow we published a couple of months ago. Today we are ready to show you how the building of the library looks today.

The fire occured on January 30th and damaged five million books (two million of them can hardly be restored as they never were digitalized). Library workers and volunteers managed to save 600,000 dry books from the building. In general 1,5 thousand tons of books were rescued and taken away from the library.

The further destiny of the library itself is still unclear, its restoration is open to question.

But there is money to invade and attack Ukraine. Each country its priorities. Culture (whose budget has been reduced in latest finance law) is clearly not one in today’s Russia :(
